Mechanics I work with who have 20 years + experience would never even do this.. A spring can break your skull into pieces if it shot at you... You're brave lol
Thank you very much for the demo of what tension a spring could hold and also I commend you for the safety warnings of other spring tensions. VERY WELL PRESENTED - 10/10
Great video! I've installed a coil over kit without compressors but with that being said the spring was smaller and came with new struts all I needed was tools to remove old strut and replace with new strut mounts. Subscribed!
As always Milan, the video was very informational and anybody who isn't afraid to get dirty hands can do a job like this. You do such a great job! :) Take Care! :)
this must be the best comment here...don't want to make you cry, but...I'll be changing my spring after installing modern (lighter) batts in my Kewet ElJet2 which made the car too light for the springs.....don't know if I'll have time for sanding and painting
Since I replaced the springs/ struts myself, I went out and bought a spring compressor. It's only $35, so worth the investment. Don't get me wrong, I've done it like that before.
Thanks for finally revealing the truth about the need of a Spring Compressors. Now when were working with another parts changer we can instruct him to stand on the back of the strut while we remove the spring. When he refuses get your little brother to stand in for the big Two Inch slide. Boosting both you and your little brothers strut changing qualifications.
YOu always have great videos and folks ..I have seen EXPERTS do similar ..but in some cases what they d=o is put a jack under the lower arm, raise it, remove the bolt and slowly lower (after removing the strut bolts of course ) ...it works on some vehicles...Milan, like I said, I LIKE your videos but I would rate this one as "don't try this at home". Someone is going to try this with some heavy duty truck spring and get not only killed but hurt badly :-) Otherwise, keep up the good work
Excellent video, very thorough and informative and easy to follow. However, in my particular situation I am trying to replace the _strut_ itself, and already have lowering springs installed, meaning the currently-installed stock strut is probably already more compressed than normal - _dangerously_ compressed/pressurized - due to the shorter length of the aftermarket lowering spring already installed. Hence, I think I will go ahead and rent a set of spring compressors from the AutoZone down the street (they rent them out for just a few bucks a day I believe). Great video though!
The piece you were threading to the strut assembly is called a “nut” not a bolt. If you don’t have spring compressors auto zone rents loans them free of charge or you can slowly remove the “nut” and it won’t shoot out the assembly, it’s not recommended but it gets the job done.
Must say great video bro! :) maybe you could make a video about using coil overs and also about doing a whole car paint job would be really appreciated. Thank you.
Just a thought, how come you can't take 3 or 4 heavy duty zip ties and secure them around 2 or 3 spring coils, pull them tight with channel locks. Then when you remove the nut the spring will still be compressed. Once the spring is off, all you have to do is cut the zip ties one at a time until the spring decompresses. Probably a good idea to secure the springs between something heavy on both ends to prevent injury.
My friend I appreciate you trying to help people out but not all cars have the same energy,be careful or you may meet your maker sooner than you thought... peace
It's not that I don't want to rent the compressor, it's that I hate the two piece style and prefer the wall mounted or one piece that O'Reilly's doesn't rent out. Had bad luck with a two piece compressor before.
If you don't want to have to worry about this, buy kits that come already pre-installed(tho some still require you to compress them more) only a few bucks more. If not, then take CAUTION.
springs or coils? i recently got springs and blew my stock shocks. looking for a smoother stock like ride for these Toronto streets. what do you think?
+Con25100 I've had springs for awhile and am yet to run into problems. If you're looking for a smoother ride, lower it with coils and set it to the softest setting :)
+milanmastracci Just what i hear, personally idk I also hear its a bad idea to put coilovers on a dd but ive been rollin like that for years. Goes to show u cant make an assessment til u try it urself.
+milanmastracci nice! hope u make a video! Coilovers really do provide a tight steering response, much better handling in turns/corners and more enjoyable drive as long as u arnt on shity roads. Steer clear of pot holes and stay on the smoothest path and u will be good =)
i want to lower my montero but its hard to get the lowering springs. mostly because its an off road truck and most people want to raise it more. since i live in the city, there's no way i can find country side to get her off road.
milanmastracci i live on google. i believe i found one before and cant seem to find it again now. ill go to a performance store when i have the money to spend on it.
i really enjoy watching ur videos. i have a question. i bought a 2000 toyota celiac GTS. the original owner installed lowering springs. and its too low, i can't even go in a McDonalds cuz the speed bumps hit my car. n it hurst lol Do u know where i can buy the normal stock springs for m ride.? the streets in LA are fucked up
Wet sanding bro. Then use mothers running compound to finish it. Makes it like new. Burnt tips arnt painted OP. They are atomized if I remember correctly. Just don't sand hard if your worried. And use high grit paper.
+chum kiler I'm yet to run into problems with lowering springs on OEM struts. If you aren't an idiot and drive over every pot-hole you see, you'll be fine :)
Depending on how much the springs will lower the vehicle. Some times the springs don't lower it enough to cut the bump stops. Usually it will say in the lowering spring kit if they need to be cut or not
milanmastracci please I need your help, I bought a Subaru Legacy 2002, I am working on the interior right now and I am trying to do everything step by step the same way as you , how can I clean the interior roof cover without taking it off the car? There is a ketchup splash and dust, I want it to look nice and shiny like new, I am waiting for your reply, please try to make a video about that. Thank you.
Never EVER do what he did. That's dangerous as hell my dad broke 4 ribs doing this and he was lucky. Go to harbor freight and buy a cheap compressor set they're about $40. Well worth your safety!!!!!
pnut166 better than pointing it straight to your face. Take precaution and use spring compressor, on the floor, pointing AWAY FROM YOU. Everyone does it a bit different. Always take precaution because those springs are on a lot of stress.
I’ve done this in an even dumber way left the suspension in the car broke the bottom half of the strut loose from the control arms pushed them over and slowly broke the nut loose and put a vice grip in between the spring and the strut and prayed to god I wouldn’t destroy a leg
I thought it was commonly known to not use an inpact gun and just spin the nut off as you will spin the shaft in the strut and damage them. Do you not see where an allen wrench can be inserted at the shaft end to keep it from spinning as you use a pass through socket to remove the nut. Instruction that come with struts point out to do so. Not the case with your struts ???
Bush mechanics do this kind of stuff all the time. I think the point of the video is to show you how it can be done as safely as possible without all the tools. I can’t imagine this dude would be stupid enough to make this his standard work practice. Go easy folks.
On average how much lower does the car get with lowering springs. I want to put some on my car but I never have before and dont wanna do all that work for like1in of drop
Hey Milan! Another great vid, keep em coming! :) I have an odd question for you. I live in the nothern regions myself and was curious how you clean and protect your under carriage from snow/salt/sand/rust/etc? Kinda important detail when keeping cars up here lol.
I'll pay you to change the springs on my dodge grand caravan just Like you demonstrated in the video so you and the young lady can become famous ( ADVICE to my friends always use the tool that's what it's for)
+milanmastracci Think it depends on how much its dropped but I have lowered all my cars on Eibachs and they instruct you to cut them a certain amount. Google it. So many people lower their car, have a really harsh ride only to find out they are riding on the bump stops.
Ok so you don't have money for a tool you can rent for free but you own air tools. And you have towels like those just laying around the garage? Oh and tightening the spring using the threads of the strut is a great way to strip the threads. I'm so gonna make a video showing how to install springs on struts that are meant for lowered cars.
This guys is very good, being a car dude myself, he makes things simple, cuts the bullshit and does what was needed.
not only kill you but hurt you really badly -Milan Tuesday march 29 2016
Ricardo Orozco
I heard that one😊
I literally just got my springs today and saw this video pop up on my notifications
today's a good day
+ayy lmao You really lucked out ;)
Your gadget is listening on you.
Mine launched straight up to the sky, I never heard or saw it land.
Yeah thats scary to think
+milanmastracci milan I have a question. are shorter springs front or rear ???
real talk i laughed way to hard at this comment 😂😂
Pablo Solis thanks
real talk lol
Mechanics I work with who have 20 years + experience would never even do this.. A spring can break your skull into pieces if it shot at you... You're brave lol
m3nace 46 so not good with an e34 lol
He's not brave, he's stupid
The towels are there for in the case there's blood😂
Thank you very much for the demo of what tension a spring could hold and also I commend you for the safety warnings of other spring tensions. VERY WELL PRESENTED - 10/10
Your actually insane for keeping this video up lmao you got people in the comments talking about how they almost died 😂💀
Great video! I've installed a coil over kit without compressors but with that being said the spring was smaller and came with new struts all I needed was tools to remove old strut and replace with new strut mounts. Subscribed!
Thank you for this.. had it in mind but seeing it work made me feel a lot better..
Excellent. I can do this myself now. Thank you!!!
This Job cost even more, His Mom is making Him replace those, Towels.
+Big Daddy Love LMFAO 😂😂
As always Milan, the video was very informational and anybody who isn't afraid to get dirty hands can do a job like this. You do such a great job! :) Take Care! :)
+Jordan F Thanks buddy :) Cheers!!
+milanmastracci :)
When I noticed the parts weren't going to get sanded and repainted I paused the video and cried in a corner.
this must be the best comment here...don't want to make you cry, but...I'll be changing my spring after installing modern (lighter) batts in my Kewet ElJet2 which made the car too light for the springs.....don't know if I'll have time for sanding and painting
Don't even risk it guys. Just get some spring compressors. They're only around $15/£15 on Amazon
+Jordan Murrison I couldn't agree with you more. They aren't expensive and make things alot safer :)
ill just pay for someone to do it for me
same spring compressors u talk talkn about almost kill me about 20minutes ago. Now fingers numb from pain
nice video. short and simple. hate when people just talk a bunch, get to the point right. well done bro
Haggard Garage (back when they're real haggard) used big zip ties to prevent the springs to relieve it's compression, they've also used vise grips
+Axxdrian Enciso I would be terrified if those zip ties snapped
Since I replaced the springs/ struts myself, I went out and bought a spring compressor. It's only $35, so worth the investment.
Don't get me wrong, I've done it like that before.
Oh well this got rid of my fears. The god of simplicity right here
I just almost died unscrewing a strut spring the thing shot out like a rocket
Thanks for finally revealing the truth about the need of a Spring Compressors. Dope vid! :) you teach too well!
+Alibek Khasanov Thanks buddy!! :)
+milanmastracci No problem! :)
Works great this method it only took off one of my friends leg at least he has one more left.....
Really awesome teaching
It could not only kill you, but also hurt you. Nice choice of words. 😉 nice video though! Keep up the good work
Lol now your mom is RUclips famous great video as always
+Allen Rodriguez LOL thanks buddy :)
no money for a free tool rental, but do this cheaper option "with your impact tools" who the fudge...
Excellent video, very thorough and informative and easy to follow. "it could not only kill you but it could hurt you really badly"
bravodelta416 Ye he said like getting hurt was worse
hahahahahaha
i guess dying would be much more okay than hurt lol
I do this even with spring compressors but i rope it down to a cinder block flat.
New string😂😂, Great video👌
The piece you were threading to the strut assembly is called a “nut” not a bolt. If you don’t have spring compressors auto zone rents loans them free of charge or you can slowly remove the “nut” and it won’t shoot out the assembly, it’s not recommended but it gets the job done.
nice vid👍👍
+Jonas Erving Thanks Jonas :)
Must say great video bro! :) maybe you could make a video about using coil overs and also about doing a whole car paint job would be really appreciated. Thank you.
+carlos palacios Solid idea :)
My Friend costs more than the spring compressors
If you can afford air tools, you can afford spring compressor. Honestly don't cheap out with things that come to safety
;)
+Kofi Very good advice :)
Well done how to video thank you

Jumpercable wireless zip ties?
When I get my car I'm going to slam it on to the ground, cars look sexy when they are lowered also great video and how to Milan
+Epic X Gaming Ain't that the truth!! Lower the better ;)
My friend I appreciate you trying to help people out but not all cars have the same energy,be careful or you may meet your maker sooner than you thought... peace
Stuart oliver he said that in the video
Dope video
+Hussain Alsaimari Thanks brotha :)
I vote for more MINI videos!
Excellent
Thank you!
I wanna see the coop lowered :) maybe feature it in a future vid?
+appleman812 Why not lol
I'm a pussy when I lowered my car I took off the struts and brought them to a shop and they installed the springs for $50
It's not that I don't want to rent the compressor, it's that I hate the two piece style and prefer the wall mounted or one piece that O'Reilly's doesn't rent out. Had bad luck with a two piece compressor before.
daddy must be proud
If you don't want to have to worry about this, buy kits that come already pre-installed(tho some still require you to compress them more) only a few bucks more. If not, then take CAUTION.
Can u do a video showing yiur tools. I need to like know where i should buy and what i should buy
Snap On...for everything
+Saeed Mohamed Yeah sure thing buddy :)
+Travis Baldwin I can't justify the price considering almost every other tool company offers lifetime warranties
I like the before and after
would the height of the springs be different if the bolts weren't tightened properly?
Can you please make a video of how to fix faded paint from the sun?? Please and thank you!
+max palencia If I get a car with paint that is bad, I would love to :)
+milanmastracci Thank you !! I've been looking for videos but can't find any. Want to fix it on my own car
How much did those manzos lower your car? Before and after finger gap. What's the ride like??
springs or coils? i recently got springs and blew my stock shocks. looking for a smoother stock like ride for these Toronto streets. what do you think?
+Con25100 I've had springs for awhile and am yet to run into problems. If you're looking for a smoother ride, lower it with coils and set it to the softest setting :)
I hear pairing lowering springs with ur used oem shocks are a good way to blow the shocks prematurely.
+Random Guy I've done exactly that to many cars, along with mine, and am yet to run into any problems
+milanmastracci Just what i hear, personally idk
I also hear its a bad idea to put coilovers on a dd but ive been rollin like that for years. Goes to show u cant make an assessment til u try it urself.
Well soon i'll be putting my coilovers on my car so we can see how it lasts :)
+milanmastracci nice! hope u make a video! Coilovers really do provide a tight steering response, much better handling in turns/corners and more enjoyable drive as long as u arnt on shity roads. Steer clear of pot holes and stay on the smoothest path and u will be good =)
Yeah I dont doubt!! Lowering springs already made a solid difference but coils will make a world of difference :)
i want to lower my montero but its hard to get the lowering springs. mostly because its an off road truck and most people want to raise it more. since i live in the city, there's no way i can find country side to get her off road.
+Olympic Gaming ebay? Amazon? Even a google search might find you something :)

Do u know where i can buy the normal stock springs for m ride.?
the streets in LA are fucked up
+Cristhian Alvarado Check the Toyota Celica Forum site for a classifieds section :) You will probably be able to pick them up for cheap
+milanmastracci
ok will do. and thanks man ur the best
+milanmastracci
ok will do. and thanks man ur the best...
No problem buddy :) Hope you find some springs!!
do you have to change the strut or is the coil enough?my car has a rough ride so i want a smother ride
Bro could you explain the right position of the spring when you put it back in
Do a coilover installation video!
"Now I probably shouldn't be telling you this". "The reason you shouldn't do this is because it's very dangerous".
Bro can u please do a video on how to clean rust off mufflers and exhaust
use baking soda. make a paste with water and baking soda. run this on rust. wait 5 minutes. now sand it with any grit sand paper.
i have an after market exhaust with burned tip
its a chrome looking one so will this ruin the coloring or scratch the surface?
Wet sanding bro. Then use mothers running compound to finish it. Makes it like new. Burnt tips arnt painted OP. They are atomized if I remember correctly. Just don't sand hard if your worried. And use high grit paper.
Hey wondering if you could do more engine and transmission related videos thanks
+Brenton Rodriquez Sure thing man :)
Hey I'm thinking about putting lowering springs on my car but I heard I would also have to change my shocks or id kill my oem ones
Just get coilovers. Unless you plan on selling your car soon, then go for lowering springs.
+chum kiler I'm yet to run into problems with lowering springs on OEM struts. If you aren't an idiot and drive over every pot-hole you see, you'll be fine :)
I've been lowered for 10kish miles with no problems and I have friends who have been lowered for longer than me and none of them have had issues
Helpful
How did you like the NM Racing springs?
the chance to strip the thread is very high here and its dangerous.
do the lowering springs have to be specifc for the car or can you just get random springs
+saif khan Yes they are car specific
I find ur channel interesting
What about the bump stops? Shouldnt they be cut down?
Depending on how much the springs will lower the vehicle. Some times the springs don't lower it enough to cut the bump stops. Usually it will say in the lowering spring kit if they need to be cut or not

+Mohammed Omer Abu-talib Other than a steam cleaner, even using a bit of degreaser and a rag goes a long ways :)
Do you mean carpet cleaning solution or something else ?
Either one of these will do the trick. Meguiars Super Degreaser of Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner. You can buy them both from Amazon :)
dang dude awesome video, got me thinkin i can do this lmfao
Never EVER do what he did. That's dangerous as hell my dad broke 4 ribs doing this and he was lucky. Go to harbor freight and buy a cheap compressor set they're about $40. Well worth your safety!!!!!
1:45 "this is my way of being careful." I can`t believe this guy is telling people that springs aren`t dangerous.
pnut166 better than pointing it straight to your face.
Yo i know this comment is old asf, but i did the exact same shit this morning yo.
I thought it was commonly known to not use an inpact gun and just spin the nut off as you will spin the shaft in the strut and damage them. If you have no compressors to remove the cap tie some nylon rope on the sides of the spring to reduce the pressure upon release.
Yep. Ive done this with some 1800 lbs test mule tape. helped out since I couldn't drive to the auto parts store.
On average how much lower does the car get with lowering springs. I want to put some on my car but I never have before and dont wanna do all that work for like1in of drop
Around 1-2" is what most lowering springs are rated for.
I have done that before but it could be dangerous for others :).
hows the ride quality with those manzo springs? thanks c:
Honestly that not bad :) Feels stiffer than stock, but doesn't bottom out which is good!!
milanmastracci awesome! thanks for the reply man ☺ great vid
Happy Mothers Day
Hey Milan! Another great vid, keep em coming! :)
I have an odd question for you. I live in the nothern regions myself and was curious how you clean and protect your under carriage from snow/salt/sand/rust/etc? Kinda important detail when keeping cars up here lol.
+Seority A pressure washer does wonders :)
When are you gonna work on the honda and the golf
+Waleed Abdalla COMING UP NEXT :) I just got the tools to fix the golf and the accord will be following it
How much the spring compressor?
Hey do you recommend Acuras?
He owns a Honda of course he does
+Brandon Green I own A Nsx
+Yianni Pantelous same engine as a Honda. They're both good cats
+Yianni Pantelous LOVE NSX'S :D I would love to get my hands on one!!
the new string XD
+Dakota Rose LOL i failed ahha
hey man where I can buy the springs?
+Jsm! I picked these ones up from eBay :)
+milanmastracci OK man thank you! nice videos man!!!
chingones!!!
The nut is threaded onto the bolt. The nut is not a bolt. And it should be torqued to oem spec.
you can rent a tool at orielys and autozone its cheep too
LTDanno360 how much
@@lowm3
I've rented it for $50 before at AutoZone. Once you're done they give you a full refund.
I'll pay you to change the springs on my dodge grand caravan just Like you demonstrated in the video so you and the young lady can become famous ( ADVICE to my friends always use the tool that's what it's for)
thanks man :)
How much Horse Power do your car has?:)
by the way it looks great!!
+Bojan :D Which one? The mini Cooper has around 150-160 horses :)
+milanmastracci Your Honda? :)
I'm guessing it has around 200 :)
+milanmastracci Cool it looks great :)
Lol you thread a NUT Onto a bolt. You tighten a NUT on that bolt. You kept on calling a nut a bolt etc. But useful video.
This bolt? Or this NUT?
Shouldn't you have cut down your bumpstops if they didn't come with new ones???
+mpbclutch33 I've never heard of this for any of the cars that i've lowered
+milanmastracci Think it depends on how much its dropped but I have lowered all my cars on Eibachs and they instruct you to cut them a certain amount. Google it. So many people lower their car, have a really harsh ride only to find out they are riding on the bump stops.
+mpbclutch33 Some kits come with new bump stops too though.....
If they come with it, than by all means throw them on :)
shit I'm trying to lower a Dodge Ram lol
Hope nobody dies trying to do what you have shown. You have shown how to increase risk. That's it nothing more
Ok so you don't have money for a tool you can rent for free but you own air tools. And you have towels like those just laying around the garage? Oh and tightening the spring using the threads of the strut is a great way to strip the threads. I'm so gonna make a video showing how to install springs on struts that are meant for lowered cars.
Angelo Jensen when?
i need help guys anyone know how 2 fix a squeaky suspension since now we r in the topic thnx :)
+Fenrir 7 Whats squeeking?
+milanmastracci rear suspension
Check to see if your bushings are in good condition :)
Ok i will
