    Thanks for finally revealing the truth about the need of a Spring Compressors. Now when were working with another parts changer we can instruct him to stand on the back of the strut while we remove the spring. When he refuses get your little brother to stand in for the big Two Inch slide. Boosting both you and your little brothers strut changing qualifications.

    YOu always have great videos and folks ..I have seen EXPERTS do similar ..but in some cases what they d=o is put a jack under the lower arm, raise it, remove the bolt and slowly lower (after removing the strut bolts of course ) ...it works on some vehicles...Milan, like I said, I LIKE your videos but I would rate this one as "don't try this at home". Someone is going to try this with some heavy duty truck spring and get not only killed but hurt badly :-) Otherwise, keep up the good work

    Excellent video, very thorough and informative and easy to follow. However, in my particular situation I am trying to replace the _strut_ itself, and already have lowering springs installed, meaning the currently-installed stock strut is probably already more compressed than normal - _dangerously_ compressed/pressurized - due to the shorter length of the aftermarket lowering spring already installed. Hence, I think I will go ahead and rent a set of spring compressors from the AutoZone down the street (they rent them out for just a few bucks a day I believe). Great video though!

    The piece you were threading to the strut assembly is called a “nut” not a bolt. If you don’t have spring compressors auto zone rents loans them free of charge or you can slowly remove the “nut” and it won’t shoot out the assembly, it’s not recommended but it gets the job done.

  • @jumpercable20

    Just a thought, how come you can't take 3 or 4 heavy duty zip ties and secure them around 2 or 3 spring coils, pull them tight with channel locks. Then when you remove the nut the spring will still be compressed. Once the spring is off, all you have to do is cut the zip ties one at a time until the spring decompresses. Probably a good idea to secure the springs between something heavy on both ends to prevent injury.

    I’ve done this in an even dumber way left the suspension in the car broke the bottom half of the strut loose from the control arms pushed them over and slowly broke the nut loose and put a vice grip in between the spring and the strut and prayed to god I wouldn’t destroy a leg

    I thought it was commonly known to not use an inpact gun and just spin the nut off as you will spin the shaft in the strut and damage them. Do you not see where an allen wrench can be inserted at the shaft end to keep it from spinning as you use a pass through socket to remove the nut. Instruction that come with struts point out to do so. Not the case with your struts ???

    Hey Milan! Another great vid, keep em coming! :)
    I have an odd question for you. I live in the nothern regions myself and was curious how you clean and protect your under carriage from snow/salt/sand/rust/etc? Kinda important detail when keeping cars up here lol.

    The nut is threaded onto the bolt. The nut is not a bolt. And it should be torqued to oem spec.

    Lol you thread a NUT Onto a bolt. You tighten a NUT on that bolt. You kept on calling a nut a bolt etc. But useful video.

    Shouldn't you have cut down your bumpstops if they didn't come with new ones???

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  8 лет назад

      +mpbclutch33 I've never heard of this for any of the cars that i've lowered

    • @mpbclutch33
      @mpbclutch33 8 лет назад

      +milanmastracci Think it depends on how much its dropped but I have lowered all my cars on Eibachs and they instruct you to cut them a certain amount. Google it. So many people lower their car, have a really harsh ride only to find out they are riding on the bump stops.

    • @mpbclutch33
      @mpbclutch33 8 лет назад

      +mpbclutch33 Some kits come with new bump stops too though.....

    • @milanmastracci

      If they come with it, than by all means throw them on :)

  • @fatboyshadetree5139
    @fatboyshadetree5139 5 лет назад

    Ok so you don't have money for a tool you can rent for free but you own air tools. And you have towels like those just laying around the garage? Oh and tightening the spring using the threads of the strut is a great way to strip the threads. I'm so gonna make a video showing how to install springs on struts that are meant for lowered cars.
