      @@schuck9326 Night and day difference. I took one winding out of the existing plastic springs instead of leaving the whole thing. Just so the seat would laydown a little more. But I used the part #'s you suggested and installed the new springs. Excellent, thanks!

    Update: I did get a great bit of improvement out of this spring modification. But I thought the ride would get better from a softer spring. I searched at local mower places and tractor supply and found nothing. Checked the internet but nobody gives the diameter of the spring strand. Fortunately, i was reading comments on this post and Scott Hamilton mentioned his tires were drastically over inflated. My rears were somewhat over inflated. They call for 10psi max and had 12.5 psi. I set them at 7.5 and this is much better. So check your tire pressure BEFORE doing this modification. Be very careful with the front tires; the air goes out much faster. Mine have a max of 22 psi and was at 12.5. When i tried to bring them to 7.5, it basically came of the rim at about 10 psi. I had to remove it from mower and fight for about 40 minutes to remount to the rim. Not sure whether Cub Cadet or Home Depot overinflated the tires. I thought mine was fine since they have such tall sidewalls and are not low profile which definitely have a stiff ride. Thanks for the tip Scott.

    My first ride on mine was so ruff I couldn't go full speed. My back hurt and I was bummed out. Before the next mow I checked the air pressure in the tires. The max air pressure on the back tires said 10psi. It had about 32psi!! I let all that air out, got it down to about 8psi. HUGE difference I could now full speed and my back was not tore up afterwards. Don't know if Home Depot over filled them or cub cadet. Turfing seems not as bad. I would like to still upgrade to steel springs.

    Just got my cub last week and bought these springs then went to Lowe's to get them washers and hex nuts. Ride's alot better now, I also lowered them psi's on the tires. 🙏💯

    Hey Sherman,
    I have the ZT1
    I have the springs that I ordered from Amazon. I do have one question. With the springs mounted on the seat and leaving the original seat clips in. Letting the springs rest on the old clips. Does that tend to make the seat feel like it’s leaning forward to much ?

  • @checkyoursix5623

    My wife and I both use our ZT1-50". The fore-and-aft seat adjustment is semi-fixed: it has bolts, and isn't on a slide, so I can set it up for one of us, or the other one, but it's a time-consuming pain in the butt to move it back and forth. Is anyone aware of a sliding seat modification that's available like on my John Deere GT245 tractor ?

  • @Beastiedoggie
    @Beastiedoggie 3 года назад +1

    Yep....just got my springs in from Jeff house, installed em and the ride is phenomenal. Only thing is the seat sits a little high, so I'm going to cut off one loop if the spring to lower it a bit. It basically threw off the geometry with my steering arms because I'm riding in the seat higher......but good fix having the conventional Spring on top of their plastic crap

    • @schuck9326
      @schuck9326  3 года назад

      It does sit higher but with my 250 lbs I was okay with it. maybe you are lighter than I. Don't forget to check your tire pressure is not too high. Thanks for your response.

      Order your springs first and use the the size bolts, nuts and washers that will fit through the spring. Tighten with socket. I used 5/16 inch, if I remember correctly.

    Hey Sherman - just got my ZT1 With a 54 inch deck this weekend and I love it. I ordered the springs with the part number that you provided from Amazon and I’m looking forward to putting them on this coming week. Appreciate the tip! Have you made any other modifications for a smoother ride since this video? Also how about the springs - have they held up since you put them on last year?

    • @schuck9326
