    I’m with you with volume control. When I’m making music, the volume is soft. When I’m watching RUclips, it’s too loud. And I have no in between for the perfect volume. Instant buy.

    all apps by auDSPr are awesome and super usefull! this one is too! thx Jakob for letting us know that there finally is a "volume slider" out there for iOS - sounds weird but that's really the case

    I’ll go for this one too.

    I just swipe down from the top right and long press the volume slider, it lets you fine adjust too.

      My thoughts exactly… but this does have a smidge more details

    • @OrafuDa
      @OrafuDa Год назад

      Yep, exactly. I found that the system volume slider popup lets me adjust volume in 0.1 or 0.2 dB steps. But the slider is small, hitting the 0.1 dB steps is a bit fiddly.
      Still bought the app, here is why:
      1. Mute button: Fast and simple way to mute and un-mute audio, when needed. E.g., when a synth misbehaves or when youtube plays a loud ad. The volume buttons on the iPad turn the volume down more slowly. And to unmute, I have to dial in the previous volume from scratch. This can be cumbersome with the pop-up volume slider. - Of course, if I want to use the app’s mute button this also means that the volume control app must be open to be useful. I have to admit that a physical button or a system-wide gesture would be better.
      2. Dim button: Fast and simple way to take down the audio a few notches, and to come back quickly. Similar story as for the mute button.
      3. Easy 0.5 dB volume nudges. Sometimes a slider is not the best control. It requires a focussed, steady hand. Nudging the volume by moderately small amounts can be easier and accurate enough sometimes. (Note that the volume buttons nudge the volume by about 3.3 dB to about 6 dB, depending on current volume value.)
      4. Large slider: This makes adjusting volume by small amounts less fiddly than with the system sliders. (Note that the volume slider in the iOS / iPadOS control center can be enlarged by a long press, which makes it far less fiddly already. But the auDSPr app’s slider is even larger / less fiddly, and can be faster to access.) Btw, I tend to like long-ish physical faders even more, because of the haptic experience, and because I can control them without having to look, most of the time. But for a touch interface as on the iPad, the app is probably the best solution.
      5. Volume setting readout & setting by typing a number: This makes it easier to remember and restore settings for specific situations, and to compare settings.

    Yay, finally a useful volume control!!! Thank you so much showing it to us🤩❤, i already gave up searching. It's a mystery why Apple didn't released it by default them self, same goes for a calculator on iPad by default, the biggest joke of the universe that you have to buy it 3rd party or live with tons of commercials in the existing apps; i mean; A COMPUTER WITHOUT SOFTWARE VOLUME CONTROL AND CALCULATOR BY DEFAULT??? 😂

    Is it a new iOS feature that you can simply swipe from top right and press/hold the volume slider. This gives you the built-in larger higher resolution volume control.

  • @iddeegee
    @iddeegee Год назад +2

    Although you can get a better control from the notification bar (or control panel) using your finger. But I still don’t understand why they didn’t make like on android phones, volume buttons opens a slider that also accept finger touches.
    Update, they've added the same feature on later iOS versions, now you can drag the volume pop-up (testet on iOS 14) but it wasn't available on iOS 12

    Great app. Since iOS 13, you can adjust the volume fader of iPhone and iPad freely, just swipe down from the top right, press and hold on the volume bar and adjust it precisely.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  Год назад +2

      Yeah, but I find it too fiddly and the volume jumps when I let go. Plus there’s not proper scale that tells you what volume you’re actually listening too. This is why I prefer pro controls.

    • @emiel333
      @emiel333 Год назад

      @@JakobHaq Agree on the fiddly controls. The app you showed suits my needs also more than the “loose volume iOS adjustment”. So, this app is on my to buy list. Thanks for the feedback, Jakob. Appreciate it.

    Do you have any suggestions. I’m looking for a “remote control” device for my in dash iPad in my truck. I’m running iPad Pro as my only source in my truck. I would like to have something like a compact midi controller, something g with a volume knob and I am able to change songs with. I currently have a satechi remote and it works ok but I would like something better/cooler looking.

    I can’t believe you just presented me the app I was always looking for.
    I hope you can also help me with this need.
    I'm desperately looking for a pitch shifter AUv3 for iOS that is comparable to the transpose feature in the Neural DSP plugins.
    The Eventide QVox works pretty well tonewise but lacks the functionality to shift chromatically. Another pitch shifter I tried is the Harmonizer audio effect wich also allows to finetune but in the end it just destroys the guitar signal.
    Now I wonder if JAX P3 - Pitch Shifter III does the job but there is hardly any information and examples out there.
    Maybe you as an experienced iOS producer have an insider tip.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  Год назад

      I am looking into pitch shifting solutions on iOS deeply. I have no answer for you now, however, I can say that you should hold of from getting JAX 3. I haven’t been able to get the app to work yet. I think there’s a bug that makes it invisible to iOS. I’ll be reporting it to the dev. As it is now I cannot even load the thing. Stay tuned for more on the topic of pitch shifting.

    I always thought it made no sense how the volume buttons go to the left on the ipad to turn it up... they expect you to orient it that way because of the camera and the keyboard case even forces you to it but the function is backwards!

I’ve plugged my IPad into Mac via usb which goes through Steinberg interface which is great., all works fine except.., I want to use koala sampler and there’s no way to master control the volume in the app (that I can see) and it’s WAY to loud., can’t be f’d adjusting each sample and using AUM to control the levels is no fun when just using koala.. anyone got some advice to pass on to me regarding this issue?? Moo. MHooH - there are other level values I might want to see other than dBFS. The one representation of volume level I absolutely do not want or ever need to see is a percentage value. Yet that meaningless, arbitrary, falsely precise form is the only unit (here is a correct use of "unit") option provided in volCTRL. Is that the name? Why? David objects to vowels or what? Then why the o in "vol" part? I could sort of swallow the "auDSP" thing, because the name mushes together two abbreviations. This one - meh. And why must the "nudge" thing move in .5 increments? Does the main fader jump in whole dBFS increments? Isn't that just less imprecise than the horrid Apple volume control (to the credit of Tim Crook, at least Apple spells out the words), and not especially precise? No, I can understand the level-drop function, but this nudging business worries me. I should have a user-defined increment, if we need it at all.
    Anyway, clearly I still have questions and hesitation. What do I know? I'm just a farm animal.
    Thanks for Mooing.
