The app is splendid, but my one big critique is one of the points you really liked.. custom timbers. Yes the idea is great, but you can't import whatever samples you want and have them work in a wavetable, most everything gets that weird buzzy electrical noise as demoed @10:00. If what you want is electric hums that's great, but if you want anything else the waveforms have to be crafted in a very specific way. Fortunately there are massive libraries of samples that were made for the original animoog that work great, so the options are out there.
It has to do with the length of samples. If you don’t want that “buzziness”, then use short single cycle samples. The buzziness is heard when using samples that are longer than a single cycle. The timbre builder basically granulates the sample and makes it fit into a cycle. It’s not a bug, nor is there something wrong with how the engine works. It’s how wavetable synthesis works basically. I hope that clears it up. 😅
It's great to see at least one of the big synth manufacturers continuing bringing out great synth apps. I'd love to see Waldorf update their stuff. Loved your demos! Great stuff.
It’s wild to me how a company that is so famous for making legendary hardware synths can end up also making such revolutionary software synths. Usually hardware companies just farm something out to some random dev and it ends up mediocre at best.
Thanks for going over those features. I got Animoog Z when it first came out. I need to get more familiar with all the features and this video helped me to get motivated to do that.
Wow, Jacob - excellent Video. You are such a professionalist and have improved so much in this kind of Video Production. I rarely see a RUclipsr who spend so much effort to details, like you. Most Videos I Watch these days, I see at double speed, because you don’t loose much, but not with yours. It’s a Joy to watch…it’s like a Hollywood-Tutorial 🙂. Thank you su much for your ongoing high quality Video Content. 🙏
Hey Jakob. Great review. I was looking for a new synth which offered me something, let’s say‘different’. As a result of your review I plumped for this; didn’t start with the freebie, installed everything - live dangerously 😅 Anyways, have only had it all for ten minutes; I have no real idea what I’m doing, yet but I’m loving it already. Thanks man 🤙😊
Splendid. As always, just enough info to get some gears turning, to appreciate the craft that went into this thing, and a real dedication to understanding this wonderful way of making music.
sorry about the dumb question (I never used iPad as a music production device) but how do you connect multiple audio apps to each other? like you have in 4:10
I took your advice. Stopped it. Got help. Then I downloaded it 🙃 Now ima gonna play with it. No doubt that when I can afford it, I will be getting the in app purchases too. 👊🏼
Luv it! The world needs to keep hearing that Michael Jordan clip more than ever now, in so many ways, on so many levels! At least 10 times a day I run across situations and people where it applies, including of course to myself!
Great video and review! Can you please share what you're using at 4:08 to have split-screen with Animoog Z, the LFO, Piano Roll 2 and Rymdigare? Thanks in advance.
I’m using an app called AUM. Every plugin-window is loaded as an AUv3. AUv3’s are re-sizeable and so you can easily customise your visual setup with apps. I’ve got an entire playlist with AUM tutorials. ruclips.net/p/PLvNQD1EpaiNObDUoHfT4RRT2_OP-HMRWe
@@JakobHaq Got it! Thanks for the reply-apologies that I didn't acknowledge it until now... I'm kind of a RUclips noob and never saw the notification.I have AUM but didn't know of that functionality. Thanks for the tip and for sharing your music with the world!
Can totally relate to the not wanting to see/use the popular choice. Very funny, but I’m just like you there. Bought Animoog Z on day one though :). No brainer for me.
Mk I does not have a tuning option…what to me makes a huge difference! Very powerful synth! Animoog Z offers a lot more…it is a huge modular synth…at least that is how I look at it. Model 15 and iMinimoog apps are also cool but nothing beats Animoog Z. I only like better the old GUI…
I wish I got this for the introductory price. I already own Animoog, but imagine Auv3 and the FREAKING THIRD DIMENSION. This is Mario 64 all over again :D
Is there a way to save the complete "state" of the app including what notes are held, arp on/off, hold on/off as a preset? I have the free version and when I save it only saves the patch sound settings. I'd love to be able to set the notes and save them with the preset or at least have the option to do so would be great.
@@JakobHaq Hey thanks for the reply! My channel has been up for a year or so and has only gained 65 subs. I thought maybe I wasn't posting enough so I've kept a really regular schedule of posting every Monday but still I only gain 1 or 2 subs a week. At that rate I might be able to celebrate 1k subs on my 60th birthday XD Any advice would be most appreciated.
It's a shame all those custom sounds I designed for the original will be lost if I ever lose my current install. Imagine if old hardware was treated this way. It sucks and I wish Apple would fix this shit so I can keep using the apps I bloody well paid for!
Lieber Jacob, schaue deine Videos sehr gerne!
Love your content but I see you have jumped on the trendy plant, light minimalist, desk set up that so many other youtubers are doing. I prefer your originality. The app looks good
Haha, I've been plagued by not going with the crowd too (like if too many people like something, I discount it) and have always wondered why I am that way. Great great video and I really appreciate it!

Great! I’ve been enjoying your iOS music production videos for a couple years and you always offer great insight!
A lot of information in a concise and easy to follow presentation, great video! Loved the interview with Geert too!
I've had Anninoog since my first gen iPad and this is such a massive step forwards. Incredible sounding!

It’s the Steinberg UR816C www.steinberg.net/audio-interfaces/ur816c/

Too easy. 😅
Well, I have my Ipad right here in front of me so I guess I could just head on over to the app store and by myself an Animoog Z
Where are your lists of best FX and Synth apps you promised to do at the end of last year???
Coming up next. I always release them in January-February.
