I'm a good judge of the energy & music that rock bands have created & performed in history, intently listening to their sound and amplified vocals & instruments, wether recorded in a studio or live on stage..the bottom line is, in the world of rock bands comparing to each other, since the late 50s.. there is no other band that could find or produce the raunchy, mean, energetic rock sound that ACDC had with 5 band members, lighting the world on fire with their paramount blast of explosive energy. The powerful rythyms & lead guitar sounds of the Young brothers, their thumping base, the scratchy tenor voices of both Bon & Brian in their tenures, and the beat of their drums in tempo & their hellish raunchy lyrics. The Best! There is no other band!

These Pommies have no idea. Yes it is shaking your leg at the end of a piss, but.... "Shake a leg" in Australia means "Hurry up" In other words "finish what you're doing and let's go" "C'mon, shake a leg"
Born in 1960 I grew up with the best rock bands of all time, ac/dc was one of the top bands, back in black is a crunching classic driving song, the words "back in" is to me, a Phoenix rising type feeling, same with Aerosmiths back in the saddle, it's that thought of rising, coming back after being knocked down, right, I'm back in.
I could watch Acca Dacca forever. Such an entertaining band. My heart is with Bon because that is when I became a diehard fan. He was a bloody hero to me in all of his okka rawness. BUT I'm sick of people putting Brian down. You can't change history. If you could, my God I would have taken Bon home that night, been in the pool with Brian Jones, called the police on the arsehole who does not deserve a name, for having a gun and kicked John's murderer in the teensy balls before he could cowardly pull out his gun at the entrance of the Dakota, ... If only I could time travel. Anyway, unfair to compare Bon and Brian. You can't compare. Let's just be grateful we had them both. Can we please?
I had always thought the song Back In Black was literally about coming home from Bon's funeral dressed in a black suit...and then moving forward as a band.
You’ve done very well to make a documentary out of this. The only person connected to the band is their studio engineer for the album. Malcolm Dome was a respected journalist, who at least knew Bon socially. But using an AC/DC tribute band as your main commentators? Genius. They should know what the band had to do, because they play the songs. But they didn’t write them!
When bon Scott passed away, I thought they were done. I bought back in black to see if I was right. I can still say I'm more of a fan of the bonn era, but man B.I.B was all killer, no filler and one of the best albums ever, bar none.
Seen Metallica and WASP in St.Loius at Reflections in I'm thinking 83 or 84 I was 14 changed my whole drumming style then I found Slayer and love all the bands in this biography horns up
Love 'em, Smokin' RnR as well as excellent musicianship. As great a live show as there is! That said, so's The Who in their prime! As well as Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, and Lynyrd Skynyrd! Kick ass RnR as well as top flight musicianship. What I'm saying is it's Apples2Oranges at that level whoever's sound is your preference. I saw and loved em all, but I think The Who's "my" all time favorite, but 1 of the buddy's that attended the show's with me could have a a different opinion, and he wouldn't be wrong either. Hope that makes sense.
Shoot the Thrill is my favourite song, specially the part when the tom-toms middle eighth kicks in, guitar layers, is way to cool, crank that part up you'll see what I mean. It Kills.
Even though both eras of AC/DC sound pretty much the same, they are pretty different at the same time. The first few albums are a bit different but all have that signature sound the band started with, and for that I admire them a lot!
It's the original ACDC Freo boys only we know that is the magic that was Life in WA Fremantle to this day. When Bon lived it and the Young Boys my Aunty's in the 70s youst to hang out with the boys before they were even heard of and went to other parts of OZ Fremantle WA Perth were Bon final resting place is that were it started Noongars know.Moodich much respect we are proud to know this fact.peace out ACDC fan's but it's the truth as far as my elders told me they was always loud and they wasn't happy about it at the time earlier 70s Who would I've known that they would become the biggest Rocking Roll band of all time in my opinion.👌 True yarn.
AC/DC know who they were in the beginning and have stuck to their roots since then. Their music is the soundtrack of my life - the ultimate rock band anywhere in the multiverse.
The narrator is completely wrong about "Night Prowler". That song was not written about the serial killer, who was apparently an AC/DC fan but his crimes were committed 5 years AFTER Highway To Hell was released. So unless he was the world's first time travelling murderer it would have been impossible for the band to have based that song on his activities. Also, Malcolm Dome has an odd way of interpreting "Shake A Leg". The most common meaning of the phrase in England during that period (especially amongst working class people like Brian) was to "get down and have a good time" or "let loose and have a party". Alternately it was used to mean "hurry up", as in "Shake a leg, we're going to be late". And just by looking at the song's lyrics, Dome's theory about shaking a certain other part of the body makes no sense within the context of the song.
@@gideonharris1493 No he didnt. Bon Scott wrote the lyrics to their 70s stuff, Brian wrote most from Back In Black until Blow Up Your Video. Malcolm wrote riffs that were mindblowingly amazing and he was a super talented guitarist, though not a great lyricist.
@@shewolfcub3 I was not referring to pre Brian at all! Correct if I'm wrong, I understand you wrote the lyrics post Bon were shit! Well, not all those song lyrics were always written purely by Brian. Some were from Mal. Ofcourse Bon was the lyricist when he was with us!
Many times when your fiinal cuts go into editing and mix ,they add beefer sounds or studio musicians to add what the engineer and producers think what might add to your work. They are not always right. You may not know until you hear the actual vinyl at that time. Then you may have to learn how to play the album as pressed to play live.
There's a big lie towards the end regarding the Night Stalker Richard Ramirez. Those killings happened a few years later in the early '80s, Bon was already gone, he never wrote "Night Prowler" in 1979 about Ramirez or denied it. It's the other way around. Ramirez was inspired by the "Night Prowler" song and left an AC/DC cap at the crime scene. The band (with Brian, not Bon) denied any Satanic message or connection.
there are MANY bands that got great good songs , many with several good songs . BUT ACDC is to me the only band with almost exclusively good songs . i can put on ANY of the albums and have no problem just letting it run trough . i`v always found this special with ACDC . one might think they are my favorite band ;P
My two fav songs off back in black are given the dog a bone and have a drink on me and in my opinion, these two songs could easily have been written by Bon...they are totally Bons style I believe...I often wonder how many of the songs off back in black that Bon actually did have a hand in writing..but it doesnt matter really,I think Bon would be smiling to know how far the boys along with Brian took the band...and I believe Bon would have said they couldnt have picked a better guy to take his place as Brian is a great guy as was Bon...
I read somewhere that Marc Storace was actually offered the gig, but turned it down for fear of always being compared to Bonn. I don’t know how true this is..but if so, it seems like a bad call. Although Krokus was great, AC/DC are generational.
I heard Storace live singing highway to hell.... My best friend and I just looked at each other and started screaming. That guy sounded exactly like Bon, no joke.
I don’t think he was ever “offered” the job. I don’t think he actually auditioned. But allegedly, both he and Noddy Holder from Slade were approached by AC/DC’s management to see if they’d be interested in jamming with the band.
I would say that "Given the Dog a Bone" and probably Money, Honey were NOT Bon Scott lyrics. I do know that the "What Do You Do For Money, Honey" was a George Young title. Bon was far more clever with his lyrics than Brian. Can I see Bon writing "You Shook Me," and "Have a Drink on Me?" Yes. Some of "Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution," including the title? Yes. Some of the other lyrics just doesnt sound like Bon's stuff to me. Plus Brian is very confused about what song he first wrote lyrics and recorded first. In a 2003 documentary, he said it was "Hell's Bells," and yet in other interviews, including a couple on Howard Stern, he says it was "You Shook Me." There has been a lot of conflicting accounts from Brian, Angus, and Malcolm over the years. "Shoot to Thrill" is a confusing mish mash of lyrics to me. It is REALLY about "too many women, too many pills?" as Brian claims, is it another song about sex, like the rest of the lyrics suggest, or is it about a western, like Angus says about that breakdown after the solo? I'd say more of a double entendre about sex AND a "gunfight" with the girl "pull(ing) the trigger" (wink). Of all of these guys speaking here, I believe Malcolm Dome above anyone else, especially since HE ACTUALLY SAW some of the lyrics Bon was working on for what became "BiB."
Back in Black was actually Titled & Written by a 14 year old, after a swing accident in a creek, Back in Black I hit the sack..... Virtually all songs where Written by him & Bon. Straight Truth. I know because I'm that kid. R/Steve Ghostwriter of ACDC Ghost for good reason.
1:36:39 " The song(Night prowler) was alledgedly written about the serial killer Richard Ramirez. Known as the night prowler. Whom, when was finally caught, was wearing an AC/DC-T-shirt. Bon allways maintained otherwise." BOLLOCKS!!! It was the other way around. Night prowler was recorded in 1979. Bon died in 1980. "The night STALKER", Richard Ramirez started his killing spree in about 1984, and was caught in August 1985. He was wearing an AC/DC T-shirt though, and there were speculations in papers on wether Ramirez was inspired by the song.
The song night prowler was not written about Richard Ramirez as his crimes were committed a full 6 years after the song was recorded and when he was captured, by the public, he wasn't wearing an acdc tee shirt, it was a Jack Daniels one.
I literally just started watching this, seeing your comment makes me think that this documentary is going to make the claim you corrected and this has me filled with apprehension about watching this much further. I've already been disappointed to see most of the talking is being done by the same talking head "experts" that have miraculously made their living just by being fans like you and me.
The best music often comes at the start, that is where the energy comes from and that is what you are hearing in this album. Strangely their best. I heard Angus thinks so. For me, Back in Black and Dirty Deeds (Australian version), iconic examples of both singers.
I hear a lot of people say Brian sounds just like Bon. Honestly, maybe I just have a more keen ear, I dunno, but I don't think they sound anything alike. Both are amazing rock n roll singers and I don't have a favorite really, but I don't understand how anyone can hear one and then the other and think they sound the same. Bon has a drier voice, more mid range and less scream. Brian's vocals are like a pissed off banshee, lots of high end and demonic squealing.
Brian had a higher range and sang with a lot more vocal fry/grit in his voice than Bon. Even by 83 he was struggling to hit the notes he’d done on record. And his voice is f***ed now- no power, except at the bottom end, and no range. I’ve heard innumerable clips of Bon live and he never sounded like he couldn’t hit his notes. Sometimes he had to scream a bit to get them, but he sang within his range. Then again, we never got the chance to hear Bon sing in his 60s, and with his lifestyle, God only knows what his voice would’ve sounded like!

As an Aussie, growing up to Bon Scott, and the boys, I can answer your question in two words... "HELL YEAH!"
I still have a Rock and roll Ain't Noise Pollution pin. I have had it since the early 80s. It was stuck in the dash of my Jeep for over 15 years!
Brilliant rock n roll band. Something wrong if you don't like AC DC. ❤
WELL DONE! Thank you so very much for the Knowledge.
Rock would be way different with Bon still around.
Agreed
Agreed totally!
They are the epitome of less is more. 3 chords, the truth and a cloud of dust. Rock and roll royalty
@@ChrisClaybern Not fair! Many AC/DC songs have 4 or more chords!!!
I personally have been a huge fan of ACDC from the very beginning all the way down line to today
WOW, i love these backstories--at age 69 in a few months i loved them and saw thein concert!!!!
I had always thought the song Back In Black was literally about coming home from Bon's funeral dressed in a black suit...and then moving forward as a band.
I really like Brian’s big signature voice.
Bon was overall better but Brians great too
Brian gave the best tribute to Bonnie ever. If not for bon that wouldn't be as effective Great stuff an mutt knew bons legend will never die
But they didn’t write them!
great doc! but at 1:03 you have the engineer giving lyrics to Shook Me while discussing Back In Black
When bon Scott passed away, I thought they were done. I bought back in black to see if I was right. I can still say I'm more of a fan of the bonn era, but man B.I.B was all killer, no filler and one of the best albums ever, bar none.
Also, the highest selling rock album ever and the second highest selling album of any genre. Just wild.
Definitely one of the greatest bands of all times...
ACDC is the best there has ever been. What is rock all about you ask? I offer Hells bells! The best rock song ever written.
You know it
Some of Bon’s best lyric writing that Brian took credit for.
Seen Metallica and WASP in St.Loius at Reflections in I'm thinking 83 or 84 I was 14 changed my whole drumming style then I found Slayer and love all the bands in this biography horns up
Oops wrong biography lol seen AC DC on fly on the wall in Dallas or Ft.worth can't remember lol
It Kills.
Very good documentary, hello from Lima Peu
Sound track for sure !!
First concert was For those About to Rock in '82 !!
Shake a leg means “get up and go / move”
Iron man 2 brought it out into the forefront of rock Shoot To Thrill is one of the greatest rock songs ever
“We’re living in a society” -Brian Jones
Great doco, thank you
"ask NOT for whom the bell tolls....For it tolls for thee !"
The Bon era was better but Brians amazing too
Yes! Then the lyrics went to shit.
@@spooge33 Agreed. Let There Be Rock, Powerage, Highway To Hell, Back in Black, and For Those About To Rock are a perfect 5 album run!
Malcom wrote many of the lyrics so that's insulting to his talent and memory.
Bon Scott mattered a lot No one ever was so real on a mic 🎤
Many times when your fiinal cuts go into editing and mix ,they add beefer sounds or studio musicians to add what the engineer and producers think what might add to your work. They are not always right. You may not know until you hear the actual vinyl at that time. Then you may have to learn how to play the album as pressed to play live.
Excellent enjoyed watching
There's a big lie towards the end regarding the Night Stalker Richard Ramirez. Those killings happened a few years later in the early '80s, Bon was already gone, he never wrote "Night Prowler" in 1979 about Ramirez or denied it. It's the other way around. Ramirez was inspired by the "Night Prowler" song and left an AC/DC cap at the crime scene. The band (with Brian, not Bon) denied any Satanic message or connection.
I love Bon. He was the one I first heard in 1977. But Hells Bells might be their best song.
That's the tour I saw them on in Dallas Texas Reunion Arena.
Dirty deeds done dirt cheap. , one of my all time faves
Oh the Truth is There's so much to this Album that's being missed !! It's so much bigger ,
Truth needs to prevail over the misinformation !!
I'm with you. You know that.
I have the original Album Back n Black still in the plastic cover
Hells Bells gave AC/DC kudos with the metal community along with their frenetic live shows and often got them misrepresented as a heavy metal band.
Incredible
Can you imagine if Stevie Wright or Barnsy were to front them?? Wow!
Great video! Best Band EVER!
My introduction to this band was B I B, I’d no idea about a lead singer change.
Regardless, I totally appreciate both of them.
Living easy...living free... season ticket on a one way ride... asking nothing...leave me be... taking everything at my stride...
AC/DC? I like 'em both. I had Powerage on green vinyl and put it on ebay. It went gold. I was raised by Mothers though
there are MANY bands that got great good songs , many with several good songs . BUT ACDC is to me the only band with almost exclusively good songs . i can put on ANY of the albums and have no problem just letting it run trough . i`v always found this special with ACDC . one might think they are my favorite band ;P
Shoot to Thrill is the first song I blew a set of speakers playing it.
You should get better speakers mate.
Highway to hell is the best…hands down,!!! Still waiting to be de-thrown
One of them. Powerage and Let There Be Rock are better thhhhho
Squealer and problem child the best
Back in Black is theirs and Hard Rock's greatest album, period...
What song is the riff from at the beginning of this video?
I read somewhere that Marc Storace was actually offered the gig, but turned it down for fear of always being compared to Bonn.
I don’t know how true this is..but if so, it seems like a bad call. Although Krokus was great, AC/DC are generational.
That was a rumor that never happened
I heard Storace live singing highway to hell.... My best friend and I just looked at each other and started screaming. That guy sounded exactly like Bon, no joke.
I don’t think he was ever “offered” the job. I don’t think he actually auditioned. But allegedly, both he and Noddy Holder from Slade were approached by AC/DC’s management to see if they’d be interested in jamming with the band.
Ac /dc will always be forever
Flick of the Switch is another ass kicker
"okay" if you "say so"
Yes!! "Silver", Bons girlfriend, saw it all. Meaning Bons notebook with all the lyrics to BIB and FTATR.
Back in Black was actually Titled & Written by a 14 year old, after a swing accident in a creek, Back in Black I hit the sack.....
Virtually all songs where Written by him & Bon. Straight Truth.
I know because I'm that kid.
R/Steve
Ghostwriter of ACDC
Ghost for good reason.
He wasn't wearing an acdc t-shirt when he was captured. It was a Jack Daniels one.
Bon Scott has Highway to Hell and Brian Johnson has Hell's Bells their both equally famous and great songs and no one can argue that one in my view .
Scot recorded Hells Bells, acdc rerecorded to their SHAME!!!
@@donaldcarpenter5328 urban myth
@@donaldcarpenter5328 Negative. It's been universally agreed that the Youngs didn't have the music for that when Bon died
Every Bon album was good
@@shewolfcub3 Agreed
The best music often comes at the start, that is where the energy comes from and that is what you are hearing in this album. Strangely their best. I heard Angus thinks so. For me, Back in Black and Dirty Deeds (Australian version), iconic examples of both singers.
When I was a kid I had no idea there were 2 different singers.
Bon was so incredible, Ive watched the live performances they have recorded of him and theyre all amazing, he really brought the energy and charisma!
