Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed my first lore/speculation video. Viewer response so far has been positive, so I hope to bring you all more lore once Octopath Traveler comes out! I'm no Mynameisbyf, but gosh dang it, I'll try! A couple of side notes though. First, I do not have social media, so if you really liked this video, be sure to share it with your friends. Any help and engagement that I can get would be most appreciated. Also, I need to issue some corrections. After I released this video, I spotted a some errors that I had made as well as a couple brought to my attention by my viewers. So, in the interest of giving correct information, the errors and their revisions are as follows: 1. The tome "From The Far Reaches of Hell" was stolen 15 years prior to Octopath Traveler beginning. 2. The pilgrimage undertaken by the church is officially called "The Kindling". 3. The Kindling takes place every 20 years, not 15. I got this mixed up with the tome being stolen. 4. Archbishop Josef DOES mention that previous Kindlings have gone wrong with the Flamebearers not returning. However, he does not explicitly state that these Flamebearers failed. 5. The bangle forced on Therion's wrist is called the "Fool's Bangle". I mistakenly called it the "Bangle of Shame". 6. I stated that the Fools Bangle was a mark of shame placed upon a thief for failing a heist. This is partially correct as it is placed on a thief ONLY IF THEY'RE CAUGHT. 7. I mistakenly called the treasure that Tressa chose a gem. It was actually a journal. The pixel art did not make this very clear, but her dialogue afterwards does. With that, I'm done here! See you all on July 13th!
I recently got an Octopath Traveler art book which made me want to revisit the game after 6+ years. However time is limited so I was like let me watch a recap/speculation and this is really bringing me back. I plan on watching/listening to this whole playlist as I workout! Thank you for all your hard work! I enjoyed this episode!
i had caught on to some of these things, thanks so much for organizing them. one thing, i do believe ophilias father mentions that sometimes the pilgrimage did go wrong. nice theory too.
@magicmasterfan1 I'm glad you liked it. Ideally, I'd like to do more of these videos once Octopath Traveler releases. As for your point, I'll need to review my notes and videos on what Archbishop Josef was saying about the pilgrimage. I've already found a few errors after the video released, that could very well be another one.
@Hector Hervas Thank you for the compliment! I did consider talking about Mattias when making this video. However, this was before OT's release and Ophilia's Chapter 1 was so vague about his role that I left him out. In hindsight, this was a mistake as he is pivotal to Ophilia's story arc in the final release. In fact, I made similar oversights with other key characters as well (Therese, Headmaster Yvon, and Darius specifically). I plan on addressing oversights like this when I do lore videos on the protagonists in the future. It'll be a while though because I only just got to Chapter 3 with everybody :(
@Choko Anders My favorite character so far is Cyrus. I enjoy playing as scholars and wizards/mages in RPGs by default. Also, his Sherlock Holmes style quests are quite fun to do.
Wait, sid Tressa pick Up a gem from the ship at the end of her prolouge? I was under the impression she picked up an old, unsigned journal? I might be wrong, I've only played her prolouge once
It's a bit hard to tell from the pixel art, but if you look closely you can see that the object she she chooses is actually a book (she's is holding it open in one hand) Later on the pier she says: "I can't wait to go home and read it all!" and when she puts the object away you can hear the sound effect of a book closing. Just wanted to put that correction out there, I think it's a great video, and I would love to see more of these once the full game is released :)
@Guy Incognito You're correct. I mistakenly called the treasure she chose a gem when it actually was a journal. I spent way too much time trying to look at the pixel art to see what it was rather than double checking Tressa's dialogue afterwards. I'll add this to the list of corrections above. Thanks for pointing it out.

Seeing this years later and it’s crazy how close you were to getting almost everything right.

Damn this guy was right before the game even came out
This really deserves more views. This was great!
@Ricardo Perez Thank you!
Outstanding.
A certain leak from the Japanese strategy guide shows an image that seems to confirm much of what you said.
man your story seems better rounded, cool!

Great video
Great video! You should have mentioned Mattias in ophilia's part though. I won't mention the errors because I saw your comment.

Lord Bojacx That sounds great. I also reached chapter 3. I started alfyn's but left it at the boss because he's a bit underleveled.
Wow this video is amazing, I really enjoyed watching it!!😭❤️keep the good work!👍
Amazing video also what is your favorite character so far
@Choko Anders My favorite character so far is Cyrus. I enjoy playing as scholars and wizards/mages in RPGs by default. Also, his Sherlock Holmes style quests are quite fun to do.
Your right but it's also for some reason a side quest
Kinda right
