One of the greatest visual spectacles ever; I could watch this over and over just picking up small details in the background of every scene
Ken Meisch this and infinity war should have won the Oscars
ILM never disappoints with their amazing CGI
its a good video. But there are a lot of scenes not showing how they were made. This feels more like a trailer for the movie than a VFX breakdown.
Basicly, VFX is to show how they blend stuff. This movie is VFX from beginning till end. Then can't show VFX in real world scenes, since everything is fake...
exactly what i wanted 2 say
@Michael G I believe these videos are primarily geared towards their future clients, to showcase they are behind the magic and that is the visual quality they are able to pull off.
Photonees “fake” what?
It's just more of a VFX reel than a VFX breakdown, which is fine
The Shining is very impressive, it looks so real
Still mad that this didn't win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
Large Format Master this or Infinity war should have won it
@@adrianstjrnfldt3095 1917 REALLY DESERVED IT
Nah, photorealistic vs cartoonish CGi. Of course 1917 would win.
Feeling’s mutual.
@@bando3789 But the movie is from 2018, 1917 is from 2019.
The shining hotel room was so real, I thought it was real and the characters were the ones rendered into it. (Well, they were, but I hope it's clear what I mean)
That’s bechus you know already how it going to look dcuo to the movie which make it easier for the am to recreate it
This was an incredible movie and I liked the respectful homage to so much of cinema history.
I remember the Shining scene in the theater in 3D and it felt like I was in a real space which was weird and cool at the same time. Great work!
Given that the movie takes place in a virtual world the little breakdown section we see in this vid almost feels like a part of the actual movie. Like seeing wireframes and stuff doesn't look out of place for a movie that takes place in a virtual world.
Always fascinating to watch the work behind a movie ♥️
Can't wait for the sequel, ready player two 😁
These vids make me hyped for movies I didn't even like.
I love how he has video game hair, not realistic hair. The way it's always sort of floaty looks like something straight out of Final Fantasy or something.
one of the best ever
Love they don’t go 100% realistic but that they keep that video game feeling into it
Watching this movie in 4k oled lg c9,my jaw was dropped until the end of the movie, such a mind blowing work!!
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing
The cg captures the feeling of a next gen video game, I love it :)
and here I am trying to learn how to bolean two objects :/
Hahahaha Same mate
Good start
so many details...
...awesome
Is this really VFX breakdown lol can't understand how it had been done the breakdown should be more detailed that everyone can understand how it was created
Are comment's disabled for this or what? Why is no one talking about how rad this is?!?!
Perhaps it's because the title is quite deceiving. A few wireframe/texture-less renders are not really 'Behind the Magic'. Impressive as it is, it's really just a slightly-more-glorified trailer for the film. But then... what do you expect in a 3-minute piece? Still an amazing film, but I suspect if you want something a bit more in-depth, buy the Bluray. LOL!
I posted my comment twice, and now my first one is actually showing.
@@dilithium72 true true. I was expecting a "behind the magic" like you say and it's unfortunate the video wasn't this but cool trailer imo.
hair looks like gravity 50% or something
Yep. Because is film about virtual fantasy world.
I'm pretty sure ILM will be the one to animate the Minecraft movie too, they teased it at the beginning of the movie
More like a movie trailer than a SGI behind the scenes
The girl with the red hair looks like Alita
There is a reason they're called Industrial Light and MAGIC
are these included in Blu-ray?
Warner Bros. Pictures and
Amblin Entertainment present
in association with
Village Roadshow Pictures
an Amblin production
a De Line Pictures production
a Steven Spielberg film
Ready Player One
I wonder if it's Unreal engine or their own Graphics engine?
everything is in house at ILM
@@z3speed4me Actually not really.
They animate / Rig in Maya, do detailing in Z-brush.
Rendering is done in Renderman (Pixar's renderer).
Sure they have their own custom scripts that heavily mod Maya for in-house stuff.
Mari is used for texturing, Houdini for heavy simulations, Nuke, Katana, Zeno.
@@3draven Good to know! Years ago I'm aware they built a ton of apps, but that was before the effects industry was really "mainstream" and they had to create engines for water, particles, etc. Today it's obviously different and I haven't kept up.
@@z3speed4me Houdini has taken that spot with procedural effects. They do top notch stuff with it in the industry.
@@3draven they use Plume, an in house software for simulations of all kinds
I wonder what Pc components they have...
How did you find the raw footage for this movie?
Because they are the ones that made it......duh!
😂😂😂
Doesn’t look like a breakdown.
Weta Digital makes the best breakdowns
Does anyone know song in this video ?
guys you know that song ? shazam didnt worked.
Ninety Six Hours by Indiana, but it kinda hard to find.
Thx i founded in Spotify 🙃
@@ThePresat0r wonderful! Thanks
Music?
Legit.
I wish y'all showed it slower
Planet dune??
you need a good pc to run that game
ILM is awesome movie wasn’t. Nice song.
gud
好
very entertaining the movie was...
not much of breakdown i could see..
this is the worst looking CGI ive ever seen. cartoon wobbly looking crap
It received an Oscar nomination for visual effects
boring might aswell watch the trailer
THIS MOVIE WAS AN INDECIPHERABLE HOT MESS... A PAINFUL-AS-DENTAL-WORK ROLLER COASTER THROUGH THE UNCANNY VALLEY.
one of the shittest movie of the past year!
Wade Watts looks like a cool dude in real life Just like his Avatar.
