Nobody creates atmosphere like Ben Howard. The Burgh Island EP has such a distinct tone and mood, especially this track. There’s something transcendent about it.
What an amazing choice of wording. "There's something transcendent..." Exactly. 100%. He is of a being that we don't even know, let alone understand of
My Gramma died January 11th, I miss her so much. She would've loved this song. I never thought to play it for her, eventhough we shared a lot of music.
This EP is what sets him apart from most of the artists these days...the fact that he can go in such a different direction and still maintain the emotion connection his songs have is truly amazing. This is a much more mature sound than his previous album and hopefully it is only a glimpse of greater things to come.
When Monica starts to sing, it makes me ache. Sometimes I feel like my exterior, my body, my skin -I feel like it’s a cage. But on the inside, beyond my bones, I feel like there’s a frenzied, hungry bird that’s pecking at my insides, crying and trying to rip its way out from this cage. I want my life to change. I want to go on an adventure. I want to travel so I can feel things and change and grow. Thank you, Ben, for making my wanderlust burst through my veins.
Is it just me or do you guys listen to Ben when your feeling down and just want to let out the tears you have been holding in while your locked up alone.
Some of the best moments of my life have been listening to Ben's Music. I remember being at a party and all of my friends even once I wasn't close to were just speaking to each other it was soo nice and peaceful. Also I am quite an early riser and I cant think of anything better than watching the sun rise and listening to Ben's Music he is so inspiring.
Dam so close to ending it all.. And this makes me think of all that can be achieved with one life, pure and emotional well done Ben. Picked you up in my taxi a few years back. Hope all works out 4 everyone

This might be his best song yet. Haunting. Monica Heldal makes this song, without her vocals it would not be anywhere near as powerful as it is. Amazing.

I love that he keeps changing his sound and is not afraid to try something different. I've seen him several times and he is always adding new songs and sounds. Its impressive
Of course an album can be full of songs like these. Not every album has to have an upbeat song within. If he can create beautiful dark, cold songs such as these then i'd buy a full album of them straight away.
Not sure where all these comments are coming from. But here in South Florida nobody knows Ben. I discovered Ben and crew on Austin City limits back in 2019 and have been completely c9nsum3d by his music. A true genius and compassionate soul
I've been in the music industry for over 10 years and i've heard some of the greatest musicians that have ever graced this planet. Every time I hear the soulful voice of Ben it astounds me, what a talent! I remember the first day I heard 'Old Pine' and his song writing ability was mesmerising. Cannot wait for the next album and look forward to whatever Ben gives us next
So beautiful. I was shown him ages ago and I listened to just one song 'The Fear' then one day I listened to all his songs and now my favourite changes every other week. 'Black Flies' is my all time fave 'I think' but now this E.P has arrived I'm sure it'll change. It's a lot darker but still Ben all over. I'm a bit in love with the man!!!
The reason why i found this song is because one of a person i know at my school did this song in our show case and it was beautiful and he did an amazing job signing and playing the electric guitar . Now I'm in love with this song
That's good. I feel a part of this scene. As, I used to go Surfing near Burgh Island. And . My dad plays lots of traditional instruments . There's groups on Facebook that connect Bantham surfers and I was always in awe of those guys who could ride The Point Break by the river. Top turning and bottom turning on those little Thruster boards the adv ... oh out of time.
Ben is the first artist ever to never get me bored. you know how some artist you just get bored of the song? ya well Ben isnt one of them.. I could listen to his music forever and never get bored because we know that he enjoys it and that we enjoy it. :) BTW come to San Diego again!

My God! It''s so hard to choose a favorite song from him! I mean i haven't found a single Ben Howard song that sucked so.. Well this one has been on repeat for days so maybe this is my favorite? I love this song so much, it's dark yet sweet and damn, that part where Monica jumps in, just WOW. This guy is pure talent. This bigger selfish part of me don't want him to go on mainstream. Ben is ours people... so no mainstream please it will ruin everything!
This was the first song I heard from Ben. Was playing a Manchester Orchestra playlist shuffle and as soon as I heard that initial guitar rhythm I knew I had to check him out. It's like its music for my soul. My favorite artist now.
Saw this live in Manchester last night, i cannot get over how talented this man is. I love this song as it shows his voice veriations reflecting acctually how good a musician he is. It’s a transcendence
I know right!
True, never get tired of him. Hope he gets to Australia again one day ! 😊
As an agnostic atheist, musicians like Howard are the closest thing I have to spiritual leaders whose music is like church to my mind.
Amazing 👌
