Hershel... Forever in our hearts! R.I.P. old man.
Fuck you, people are still watching this you know?
This literally happened three years ago.
Get real douchebags!... If you don't fucking like it, then stay up with the show. Don't bitch just cause your ass is almost 3 years behind!!! He also didn't say HOW Hershel died, so it's not a complete spoiler... I mean come on, what did you think everyone was going to eventually make it out alive & all would be hunky dory?... Have you ACTUALLY watched the rest of the show? You should EXPECT that some of our favorite, main characters are going to be dying eventually... Just wait till you see Glenn's demise BUHAHAHAHA!
@@kalieadams24 now thats almost 11 years now, omg

Every season the TWD team uses such brilliant pieces of music, songs which most people have never heard but each one a masterpiece, like this one. Another reason which makes this show one of the best ever to be produced for Television.
Season 5 had no music /:
They used to 😒
Idk what it is but having an actual song in an episode or in the credits just elevates it so much. TWD has a great soundtrack but having actual lyrics and melodies that fit the tone make it so much more atmospheric. I hate that they swapped acoustic instruments like strings that evoked so much emotion for over the top synthesised blares in season 5 onwards, until season 9 brought acoustic instrument back
the music is awesome idd but the show is boring af after season 3
@@Joylols no it isn't
Was looking for the recipe of oats porridge! look what i stumbled upon ...love it !!! :)
@Kaajal Bhatia brilliant isn't it.
Loved your comment and the song... :)
you should watch the walking dead
I don't watch the TV show anymore, but I still listen to this song. 👍
This is an awesome comment!
One of the single best moments on the series...Hershel standing over that dead body, hesitating with the knife, then finally doing what he had to do.... Then paired with him looking at the bible with pain and doubt.... So sad and epic!
What episode was that one
@@Midnightblue45557 season 4 I think. I know it was in the prison.
@@Midnightblue45557 season 4 episode 5. That's my favorite scene because of how the music has such a role in setting the ambience.
@@plantdesigns7889Just watches it for the first time.
Yes. He lost his faith in that moment. And he realized what a fool he had been. Really was an emotional moment. I can only imagine what it was like to have the whole meaning of your existence fracture. I love this show.
I cannot get enough of this masterpiece.
Every now and then this song pops up in my head and i have 2 hear it 🔥🔥🔥
Well, that is an amazing song. Thank you CD Projekt for introducing me to it.
8Paul7 You never asked for it

I’m re-binge watching TWD with my daughter who was too young to enjoy it when it originally aired. She heard this song and immediately loved it. And season 4 was imho the best Dead season. Saint Herschel to the rescue .... what a great character.
is there even any competition for season 4? apart from season 1 I cant think of any that even come close
A testament to the acting of the late Scott Wilson (who was still alive for the filming of Rick's final TWD episode in S9, in which he appeared, but died before its television premiere) -- and also the casting director/team on that show, who so often seemed to find the exact right actor/actress to bring their character to life on-screen! I just can't imagine another actor playing Rick Grimes than Andrew Lincoln; or Carol Peltier than Melissa McBride; or Morgan Jones than Lennie James; or Glenn Rhee than Steven Yeun; or Shane than John Bernthal; or Philip/Brian (AKA: "The Governor") than David Morrissey; or Daryl Dixon than Norman Reedus; or Michonne than Danai Gurira; and so on, and so on, and so on...
The 2nd season was the best
@@shruggzdastr8-facedclown I still want to BE Michonne.... she's one of the "hearts" of TWD.
I've binge watched TWD so many times...always something new to find in that. I'm 70 years old now.... but that show rocks.
Lyrics
Go your way
I'll take the long way 'round
I'll find my own way down
As I should
And hold your gaze
There's coke in the Midas touch
A joke in the way that we rust
And breathe again
And you'll find loss
And you'll fear what you found
When the weather comes
Tearing down
There'll be oats in the water
There'll be birds on the ground
There'll be things you never asked her
Oh how they tear at you now
Go your way
I'll take the long way 'round
I'll find my own way down
As I should
And hold your gaze
There's coke in the Midas touch
A joke in the way that we rust
And breathe again
And you'll find loss
And you'll fear what you found
When the weather comes
Tearing down
There'll be oats in the water
There'll be birds on the ground
There'll be things you never asked her
Oh how they tear at you now

TOOK AN APOCALYPSE TO FIND WHO U WERE NOW
Something is addictive in this song...
hell yea
its that guitar.Fast and low.
something is addictive to his songs overall.
It's the bow breaking on a stormy sea. The ocean roils up and up then it falls and crashes but it's still building in the next wave. . .
That's what I feel, anyway.
The song was played in very related situation as per lyrics in S4.. As Hershel risks his life for his people and choose to do his duty by even other people loose hope about cure for this crisis but he keeps hope and still choose to help others as a Doctor.. Same as lyrics
Go your way,
I'll take the long way 'round,
I'll find my own way down,
As I should......
...This is nice....
No wonder TWD is Success.

When you listen to Bens music you'll understand how beautiful an art music can be.. can listen to his music for hours.
Been listening to his music for over 13 years and to me it’s the best sound a human can achieve !
I definitely cried with Herschel when I heard this. Powerful scene. Favourite one in the series
I can't believe i found this song...Today i heard this song in a local radio station and I've been looking for it all today...I finally found it and guess what? Im high as hell right now...Even sound more amazing now than the first time i heard it. Superb Rythym and Vocals. I can't believe i didn't hear from Ben Howard early!
Ditto - I heard it on Walking Dead, and had to find it - such an awesome haunting song. I've been checking more and more of Ben Howards stuff, it's funny how some artist just fly under the radar for a while sometimes.
stunthumb which is why i'm here now! i just finished that episode. haha.
stunthumb That`s how it is now. All the great artis is somehow not on any list. Before, i used to pick out 10 cds i never heard of before (in the local store), and if i found 1 good one i was happy :)

Yeah, I know what you mean. Personally I miss the days when I'd travel miles on the train with friends to go to the good record stores. Studio albums meant a bit more back then I think.
***** is you usage of "mkay" from "South Park"? If so LMAO:D! Love South Park!
This is one of my favourite Ben Howard songs.
I can't listen to this song, not now... not after tonight.
Long live, Hershel Greene.
2024 and this song gives me full body chills... tears in my eyes
I'd like to thank CD Projekt Red for introducing me to Ben Howard. Ever since I heard this song in the launch trailer early this year, I've just been in love with his music. I don't think I can go a day without listening to at least one of Ben's songs. I highly recommend that those of you who are here because of The Witcher 3 or the Walking Dead go check out his other stuff. Especially the song End of the Affair. It's probably my favorite song of all time.
Now I gotta watch that trailer. Played W3 a million times, but that would probably give it a different energy, using this song.

Before this song, my favourite song on The Walking Dead was Wye Oak's 'Civilian', part of the Season 2 soundtrack. Now, this wins, hands down. Beautiful.
OMG I AGREE WITH YOU COMPLETELY I HAVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH BOTH OF THOSE SONGS FROM THE WALKING DEAD OMG OMG YES
I literally couldn't stop listening to either of those songs.
Was the same for me ahah :D
Same :D
I remember finding "Civilian" before it was on the show, and was like "this would work in an episode. then season 2 comes and BOOM
Okay, i'm a hip hop fan, but after the legendary Ep 5 of walking dead. I want this song to go global. This music was so fitting. Chills every time I hear this song, I cant stop humming and singing the lyrics. This is my current anthem, i'm sure it sums up the way a lot of people are feeling in this cruel unforgiving world we live in.
im waiting for the last ep of season 10
I'm curious how your musical tastes have evolved since. Not sure why. I'm easily amused.
@@cloudnomad7758 Still love this song.
@@RAMCARTGAMER Me, too. Even though it makes me feel old.

Ben Howard is my favorite musician. How did I have no idea this song was in the walking dead?! My husband and I are just now rewatching it and I almost cried when this played. It’s so fitting 😭
This song has so many haunting elements and sounds. It is so easy to connect with that insecure, shaking voice, finding no solutions or reliefs. Great stuff! Instant classic in my book... fan forever.
When i heard this in twd i jumped up and screamed "THATS BEN HOWARD!" my dad was so condused lol
Sometimes you come across a voice and a song that does something to ur core.. it plays at something deep inside you. You feel like ur home. This does that.. it’s moves my soul. I listen to it every night when I go to bed. It’s more than beautiful..
Props to Ben Howard for keeping comments open. Most official musician youtubes have them off
Saying he's amazing, awesome, brilliant, extraordinary, excellent, outstanding, marvelous etc. is still such an understatement. He is just perfect. Chills, chills, chills..
This song is drug addiction alcoholism and life on the edge in one go living with pain, such an amazing amazing tune 🎶 touches the soul

This song is great. Thanks to the walking dead for helping me discover this dude
I wonder if he realises the extent of how much we all love him
Spectacular deepness from the the best artist of his generation. A powerful blend of emotion and musical skill to highlight how good Ben Howard and his band are at expressing feeling through music. Beware everyone else the best has arrived.
Gotta love it when TV Shows use Good music and in the process introduce you to a amazing artist :) Iv found 4 good artist this way.
The walking dead??????
This is Ben Mother F’ing Howard people. Listen to his music. It’s not just a soundtrack. This man is a genius. But I’m glad they brought this to y’all
i'm Happy to see my favorite artist in my favorite serie! love love!
I freaked out when i heard Ben in TWD. The song suited perfectly.
Not enough words to Express my feelings when listening to this song. This is some kind of universal melancholy, the realization that we come into this world alone and will leave alone. But at the same time, an endless love of life... It is difficult to convey... Thank you for this song!❤️
Go your way
I'll take the long way 'round
I'll find my own way down
As I should
(This first verse is about acceptance of other's decisions,
and the effect greed has on our psyches. Dishonesty is rewarded by gold in this society)
And hold your gaze
There's coke in the Midas touch
A joke in the way that we rust
And breathe again
(This verse is about Midas and the effects he had on his town.
Coke in the Midas touch, refers to coal in the gold smelting process which creates rust. There could also be a reference to polluting water with your greed as Midas only rid himself of his curse by touching his hands to the river Pactolus. If there were coal in his gold it would've killed a lot of his townsmen while bringing them riches. I expect that the "joke in the way that we rust" is a reference to the effects that coal miners had on the towns that they life and prosperity for).
And you'll find loss
And you'll fear what you found
When the weather comes
Tearing down
(This verse is about the karmic effects that greed has. When you bring uncertainty to others, you'll be struck down)
There'll be oats in the water
There'll be birds on the ground
There'll be things you never asked her
Oh how they tear at you now
(Again this could be a reference to coal miners, as oats in the water is a reference to cocaine and it was common for coal miners to get addicted to cocaine. Birds on the ground is also a sign of imminent death often by undetectable ways. It could also be literal: coal miners would use canaries to detect early signs of carbon monoxide levels).
You'll also notice this song repeats itself. That's because this process does as well. Greed is cyclical and it ripples down to those who have been affected by it.
For what it's worth I'm 48 and I recall at school kids saying, when their favourite hitherto 'unknown' idols became popular, 'Well, I liked their early stuff'. From a psychological perspective, that;s just the ego and its extension of its false little empire. There are so many ways to discover music these days. Some people's identity seems to hinge on whether they spend their lives trying to find things people have yet to discover, which is all well and good. The fragility of their identity is demonstrated by the fact that when others then find out about things, they must then move on to the next uncharted band. Just a micro-version of captialism if you ask me. I am proud to be a fan of 'The Walking Dead'. I think their musical choices are superb. And I'm sure 99% or more of musicians wouldn't reject fans on the basis that they helped them emerge from obscurity!
A structured, well-written logical argument in the comment section of youtube? You must be new here. Welcome
Jonathan Lässig Thank you!
SHHH Let people enjoy things the way they want to! To call someone fragile because they prefer things others have yet to discover shows your own prejudice rather than there fragility .

Dude all I see is Hershal crying on that bed after saving Glenn. One of the best characters besides Rick in my opinion, he never once threw away his morals for anything, and he died a truly good man. Rip. (Edit) that riff at the end is so good
does it really matter how you got to this song? the point is that you all end up here cause u like it! there's plenty of reasons why, cause u like depressing music, u like this artist, u like walking dead, u find it in style or whatever. the point is u ALL like it! so instead of being cocky that you knew him before twd u should be happy that this great artist is finaly discovered by the masses!
