I see the arms as symondlic. I've seen people criticize them as a fantasy element that weren't nessaray but they're the prefect respersentation of Violets struggle. The arms aren't natural for her and she has to learn how to use them. The same way how understanding human emotions dosen't come naturally for her. She teaches herself how to use her arms to write letters: a form of communication. The same way she has to teach herself the deeper meaning behind words, read people and their complicated emotions in order to be a better commimunicater. Loosing her real arms is a physical reminder of the damage the war did to her. Being unable to understand emotions or connect with others are psychological reminders of the damage the war did to her. Even though her arms aren't natural and she struggled in the beginning she soon masters them to the point that she out performed those who still have all their natural limbs. Similar to how she struggles with understanding human emotions in the beginning but learns to understand them better then anyone else in the story.
When she took her gloves off in the scene where she was about to type on the type writer with the cute music in the background, that was kinda beautiful. It really made me emotional for some reason.
this vid deserve more view. i was searching for an asmr vid of violet evergarden and found this masterpiece(im a bit sleepy so i thought the "arms" word is "asmr" 💀) this is the best unintentionally asmr vid lol (especially the hair brushing part)
I love what her new hands symbolize. I look at it as a new start for her. Her old, human hands killed so many people during the war. Now she's given another chance, and her new, metal hands are now meant for love and care.
There is a part where she has really different hand in it.A hand look more like human 3:56. I think that happened in the last few eps.And changed backed in the movie
Since she lost her arms while removing the bomb from the bridge, hence she got new ones. The new ones are the ones you timestamped. In the movie they again changed again because the movie was 4 years later is the story and you need to change your prosthetic hands when they get worn out or when you get older as they need to fit properly
I think the Kyoto Animation arson attack was a factor. I know they lost a few character sheets in the thing which is why Erica's clothes were changed though don't quote on that as I don't remember the details of what was lost clearly. Most of the computer data was retrieved thankfully.
Judging by a few scenes there's a series of tension cords that are attached directly to the remainder of her muscle fibres to allow her to create life-like movement. So not quite clockpunk.
Watched the series larst night, best anime ive see thus far. I consider it even to be better than attack on titan. The only anime or movie to nearly bring me to tears
did anyone notice how they're very skeletal? Really emphasizes that a part of her died during the war. I think that's a pretty neat touch
I thought it was to make it practical. Our skeleton is like that for a reason so a replacement should be the same.

The details if her arms are way too good
6:41 beautiful 😢
So what type of system is that arm? Is it Clockpunk or Ball and Sockets with Air pistons? Just curious.

That’s a lot of long thin wires for her prosthetic arms.
Are they piano wires? Cause that's what they look like to me.
Probably used to connect all the functions of the arm directly into her nerves.
forever my favorite anime🩵 the animation is just so beautiful.
I want to make Something Like her hands so i Just start to learn this As my Job
So butiful
At first I thought she was saber from fate
