    Thanks for sharing. I bought this for my son to use after trying many different math curriculums. He’s doing really well so far with it. There weren’t many videos on this particular curriculum so it’s nice to see this.

    We were not happy with Dimensions. It seemed to challenging and too many problems. We are switching to Standards edition with the Wisdom Wonder video instruction.

      I've never heard of Wisdom Wonder video instruction, thank you for sharing that here! And that's a really common issue I hear from so many when it comes to Dimensions. I hope the standard version works better for you guys.

      @@TheJonesClan6182011 we loved it for the younger years. How old is your daughter? I had four children using it and the older two have switched to CTC math.

    I'm going to try Singapore Primary with my 2nd grade daughter this year, but I didn't purchase a teacher's guide. Do you think it is important to have? Also, I heard there is a home educator's guide too. I'm wondering if I might need that or the teacher's guide or if I can get by without either?

      For the earlier years I would personally absolutely want the home instructors guide. Even the guide meant to teach a classroom would work, it teaches the same things, just will recommend group work. The foundation the early years sets for understanding in math just so important, and it works through tons of problems in the instructor guides. It gives all of the solutions to the reviews in there as well!

      I've had TONS of luck getting my hands on used instructor guides and textbooks for the primary editions off of eBay!!

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is less of a hold your hand "say this" kinda instructor guide?

    • @MindfullyLiv
      @MindfullyLiv  2 месяца назад +1

      It is not scripted word-for-word like some math curriculum, you are correct! But it definitely guides you through the math. I absolutely forgot how to do some fractional work for example, and it held my hand throughout, explaining the problems to do with your child and the solutions, though it didn't give me word-for-word what to say. I can make a youtube short this week and show a better look into the instructor's guide and link it to this video.

      @@MindfullyLiv oh thank you! Im currently using MWC grade 1 and I have a love hate relationship with it. It just doesn’t feel like enough and the games are blah to my son - which makes it seem not worth it to me. I do like how clear it is on “do this” “say this” “show this” etc though so I’m nervous about a change!

      @@JonesyMama you're welcome! And that short is now posted on my channel if you want a better look at the home instructors guide. They only allowed a minute so I did what I could 😆 feel free to pause it to take your time to read everything they lay out for you to do to teach the lesson, and if you have more questions please reach out! I had a dislike/ not for me relationship with MWC as well 🙃

      I have not moved to Singapore yet with my daughter who was using MWC. I have levels 2-6 for for Singapore and for 1st grade we are using Rod and Staff, but I plan to move her to Singapore as soon as we're done with it!

    • @amies8203
      @amies8203 Год назад

      @MindfullyLiv I've heard great things about Rod & Staff! It's reassuring to hear you'll move to Singapore with your daughter for 2nd. We've had similar challenges with MWC that you had. My daughter is frustrated with the repetition, and I struggle with the Teachers Manual (I find it overwhelming). We used it for K and 1st and I've pushed through until now because I do believe it's a great program. I just think after 2 years of "pushing through", it's worth giving something else a try.

    Why not Beast Academy?...Since their curriculums are also used by students that go to math contests.

    • @MindfullyLiv
      @MindfullyLiv  Год назад +2

      We gave Beast Academy a try in my sons 3rd grade year. The curriculum is very abstract and I didn't find it straight forward. My son didn't have any issues with the difficulty of the curriculum, but he didn't enjoy it either. I thought he might with the videos and comics aspect, but he'd rather do the bookwork and learning through Singapore, so we switched back.

      It's been really awesome for the upper grades especially. He uses the textbook to get him through his lessons in the workbook independently, then if he needs any more instruction if he gets held up on a concept, I can flip through the teachers manual and dig a little deeper with him. Hope you find something you guys love with less materials!!
