Kimmie I love your recipes and energy and the only things I do differently than you is instead of using sugar I caramelize shallots and garlic in the oven with a little EVOO, salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar it does the same thing the sugar is intended to do the second thing is because I'm Italian I cannot have Ziti without Ricotta cheese so I take half my meat, pasta, sauce mixture and place in the bottom of my dish then my SEASONED Ricotta layer a little cheese then the rest of the Ziti and then top it with parmesean and mozzarella cheese
Just sampled the sauce after it has been simmering for an hour or so.... killer!!! Killer I say..... really good. Thanks for the recipe and definitely be trying more of your dishes. 👍👍
This looks delicious! You are so right about grating the cheese! Store bought already grated comes coated with a starch to prevent it from clumping together! I can’t wait to try this! I’ve been looking for a great Baked Ziti dish, think I found it! Thank you !

I love how you broke down the onions and green peppers to mix into everything. I don’t like them chunky but my mother makes the best sauce and she makes her vegetables all chunky. Her sauce is like yours tho. Sauce so good, I get excited just smelling it.
Instead of using sugar to reduce acidity, i always put a couple big chunks of carrot in there while it cooks, then remove them once done. It will reduce the acidity without making your spaghetti too sweet. 👍
I hate tomatoes, but I love to cook sometimes I do cook with tomatoes, but not often. My girlfriend’s favorite dish is big ziti. She was raising American household. I was raised in a West Indian household so I’ve never had or made big ziti so I needed this dish to be perfect when she got home when you said have chicken broth have water and season your water. I knew I clicked the right video.
