Another 20-30 years of Nemesis is only a good thing surely! I just hope the pit and waterfalls get some decent attention, with the return of the blood water being the absolute icing on the cake if they can do it! I'm confident Merlin (and indeed b&m themselves) understand how important this coaster is to so many people so I cannot see the ride experience changing very much. I just hope John Wardley is involved in some capacity as it just wouldn't be right to mess with his finest work and not have him included. If I had my way it would get listed status and live on forever, however I'm just happy that I hopefully get to share this masterpiece of a coaster with many more of my nearest and dearest for many years to come. I became an enthusiast because of this wonderful machine and I know I'm certainly not alone in this. Long live Nemesis!
Yes Chris, you're on a roll. So ruddy excited/nervous about this retrack but I think it's going to be a huge blessing long term. 👍 Get that legendary Red River flowing again!
@@ScrewyLoops what ever happened to the vimto anyway? Was it just expensive or annoying to keep running for something that only marginally affected the experience?
Funny you should mention the station as I have been saying the same thing. I'd like the Nemesis monster itself to be twice as large in which it looks more like the giant alien crab thing in contrast to the weird alien blob thing with those two googly green eyes. Imagine that before the second inversion there is a bit of interaction in which you go through one of the claws of Nemesis as it tries to 'grab' you or perhaps one of the legs can be placed through the vertical loop as what had been planned for ride before. If you keep the actual queue line, might be an idea of this monster being twice as large as you enter inside the beast via opening it's body and find a wall of corpses of the many victims that Nemesis has fed on (as mentioned in the preshow) with the sound of Nemesis' heartbeat being heard which all adds to the waiting to be far more scary. And finally, the one thing I could never understand is why the brake run has to happen with you going up Nemesis' arse the more you think about it. 🤔A larger monster of just going under it would solve this little problem IMO.
So happy it’s being looked after, like many, it was the coaster that made me fall in love with big coasters. Never forget the first time it whipped me though that first inversion completely took me by surprise! Love it!
I guess so many mentioned the station, that someone somewhere made it happen, at least the exterior looks amazing now. The new track and sound, yes and yes, it looks and sounds soooooo good. B) The Before You Ride vid may need an update, maybe, hmm.
It would be cool (and hopefully not too expensive/hard on park employees) to have the ride operators dressed as Phalanx operatives or Nemesis cultists, and either give tense safety instructions as you board, or cackle about how you're about to be sacrificed.
I am absolutely delighted! 😀 I just had a feeling that they would be doing something for Nemmy’s 30th birthday and we’ve had it confirmed. 😃 The question on my mind would be what will they do to replace Nemesis for next year and if they were going to do some kind of marketing campaign for Nemmy’s 30th birthday what would it be? Because I think they’re gonna come out all guns blazing on it, I don’t know quite how what but I think they are have something big plans? 🤞😉
I have high hopes for the 30th anniversary too! I think it will be a really special event. I was too young in 1994 but I will absolutely be there for reopening day! Such a special coaster!
Rivers of BLOOD !!!!! Anything to keep Nemmy going. Maybe with the more WHOOOOO than the RRRRAAARRRRRR of the track. More new peeps would go down the path and ride since it may not sound to intimidating as an all round sound
Nemesis has an extremely bright future. If the original track lasted 30 years the new track could do to so by the end of nemesis 2.0’s life, it would be a classic like Big Dipper and would mean most likely another retrack. Nemesis will outlive us all
Wonder what will happen with Oblivion, which is surely in or at least approaching its twilight years. It may not be as groundbreaking and shocking as it was when it opened but I still feel like it's probably Alton Towers' most iconic ride amongst the general public, at least people of a certain age. Ask them to name a rollercoaster at Alton Towers and chances are the first and possibly only thing they'll say is "the Oblivion" whether they've even been on it or not. And even if it's not as good as Nemesis the vertical dive into a deep underground tunnel is something that few rides in the world can offer. That might make retracking it a bit more difficult and expensive but you'd need to dig it up to demolish it anyway. I wouldn't mind seeing it's layout after the first drop get jazzed up a little if it were at all possible though. While Nemesis is great enough to always be a favourite among both enthusiasts and the public, I don't know if just the same old Oblivion with no modifications would be popular enough to justify a retrack. Still, the ride being older than I am, I can't really imagine a trip to Alton Towers that doesn't involve watching it dive into the ground and psyching your friends up for a ride whose intimidating reputation proceeds it. More modern B&M dive coasters feel generally meh to me, but even today Oblivion has some magic to it that I'd be sad to see go.
I think that nemesis will be just as good after the retrack if not better, it would definitely be nicer if it was a little bit smoother and although it’s sad it wont make that iconic roar as such, it should still be pretty loud as you said because of the terrain, either way we can’t complain because it’s better than losing nemesis! great video 👍
I only just got confident for riding v1 what now about V2 my mum will have to force me on again lol. I am glad we have someone to give us updates thank you.
Nemises is such a classic coaster its good to see that they are not going to change the layout,i frigging lv this coaster.have u been on infusion at blackpool pleasure beach, thats good but ruff as hell ide like to see changes made to that 1 u proper get banged up,anyways great video brother, stay safe and see you in your mext video.
Thank you for a awesome video as always I agree with you about the sand not making much of a difference to the sound I would think nemesis 2.0 would sound like inferno but a bit louder with the surroundings would be nice to get some new classic train 100%.
Think the dates on the plans are in American format. If you look at the date on the plans named proposed site plan it’s 01/18/22. Towers have requested a Determination date required of 18/03/22 on the application, the day before the season starts. Hope I’m wrong, but it feels like Nemesis might be closed this year.
Really hope I’m wrong and it’s open this year, I have friends coming over and they have never been to Alton towers and they want to ride Nemesis. Cracking vids as always though.
Maybe they decided to close Nemesis and rebuild it with new track and new support structures so that way the ride can be way smoother and more comfortable to ride.
'your' gonna die? Apart from the typo, this is good news. I've been wondering the last couple of years what they would be planning, given her age. I'm glad to see they are retracking rather then scrapping. It also makes me feel extremely old that I was going to AT before Nemesis was even a thought, and Forbidden Valley (then thunder valley) was just the home of the cable car stop and Thunder Looper all on its own.
Yes yes yes . Such amazing news . I’ve ridden better but there’s something special about Nemesis that makes it my favourite. This could possibly mean that our third generation coaster fan … my 7 month old granddaughter Daisy will get to ride this iconic coaster . I feel so smug that we only live 50 minutes away 😌. Great video Chris 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
I kinda wish they made one of the trains if not all, have speakers placed near the seats, which would play the old roar as an onboard soundtrack (maybe a lil earraped and disorted to make it feel more aggressive) in a way that it will not be too hearable from outside but will be enough to make guests feel the roar as if it is coming from the ride, maybe they can modify the wheels of that train that has the speakers in a way it would rattle a bit more than it should for added realism.. Maybe they can run the ride a few times with microphones placed near the wheels a few times before they start the process; to record the roar, similar to how they put small mics on formula 1 car engines and play it loud and distorded on the tv to make vievers feel more involved with the race
Pleeeeaaassseee no vest restraints on nemesis. I hope it gets the b and m lap bars b and m recently announced, it might be even better with them bc the hang time on the loop will be 👌
Hello There, this was a great Video and it will be a great investment, in terms of the date on the application, people have said that it's an american form meaning that it was created on 12/01/2022, rather than the date being reconstructed on 01/12/2022.
