It's a long, busy cook, but they are so good! I made my version about a year ago. I used a brisket flat and gave it 4 hours of smoke before I put it in the braise. So dang good!
Love birria tacos, my favorite kind. Cilantro and onions are perfect on any taco. If you’re ever in the metro Atlanta area, come up to Oakwood and check out a place called Taco Madre. Best restaurant birria tacos I’ve had living in Atlanta the past 25 years. Cheers Greggy
My wife cannot eat cilantro either. She says it tastes like soap to her. Unfortunately not everyone loves cilantro. I love your videos by the way. Great job! The tacos look delicious.
I have seen several videos on the subject and I intend to give it a go, but I keep forgetting about it. Peppers are harder to find around my part of Ohio also, but it is happening soon. I really like that you cooked in a CI Dutch Oven over open coals...... I really like the grill even more. That thing is totally me, and it looks expensive, but I am going to have to add a version to my outdoor kitchen. Whether I buy a smaller, cheaper version, or build one myself (not likely, lol). They look fantastic Greg. Thanks, man.
Looks really good! My grocery store has had beef shanks on sale recently, so might give this recipe a try with those. Oh, and I’m definitely on team cilantro.
Of course these look amazing Greg. So, if you cooked them a little longer on the flat top and flipped them a couple of times, would they then become quesadillas? For me here in Canada, it seems like most Mex food has pretty much all the same ingredients. - I love and make them all, but I'm just asking... - Cheers!
Sup greg, great cook, Argentine grill 👍, looks amazing, my nurse is from Mexico, got my chair out to the grill yesterday, odd she Mexican and doesnt like cilantro🦧, only have gas grill with cast iron grates now, and charcoal of course, miss my Argentine grill, was getting Santa Maria grill but, you know shit happened. Might add more chili de arbol, like heat, but not in control if wanna eat lol. Great just sitting by grill, sun.. things people take for Granted. Keep cranking brother 👍, tyvm tc
My daughter just found out that cilantro tastes like soap, she is so sad that I have to make two different types of salsa now. Great recipe, will be trying this minus the cilantro 😂😂
Your daughter must have the “coriander gene”. (Cilantro is called coriander outwith USA). People with the coriander gene perceive coriander to have a soapy taste. It’s a reasonably common genetic variation - about 10-20% of the world has it and it’s completely harmless
Thank goodness people working in Mexican restaurants dont go bully people who don't like cilantro. Been to California to a Mexican restaurant, and they were acting normal and ate wonderfully. Also one near where live in the Netherlands, who make an excellent Birria taco, without cilantro if you ask. No one reacts in that demeaning way over there. I love Birria tacos. If I could eat them every day along with el pastor, I would. Yours looked really tasty, minus the cilantro. Weirdly enough, the korianderseeds, I have absolutely no problem with, that doesn't taste like soap at all.
I have the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap :( I still try it fairly often to see if I can grow out of it or that I built up a tolerance to it. Those tacos looked amazing! Love birria tacos with the consommé!
Sadly I am carrying the cilantro tastes like soap gene. So I can't really eat it... But I usually substitute it for parsley. Not exactly the same but works for me
Keep up the Argentine grill recipes so I can keep convincing myself I need one 😂
Definitely
Everyone needs one! Cheers!
Can't go wrong with slow cooked beef and those spices! A joy to watch.
Oh MY! I could eat about 8 of those tacos!! Fantastic cook Greg! You needed a margarita on the rocks to go with or a Modelo Especial!
I love Birria tacos I have made with 4 to 5 different cuts of beef seared with iron and oh my god better than I have tried anywhere
It's a long, busy cook, but they are so good! I made my version about a year ago. I used a brisket flat and gave it 4 hours of smoke before I put it in the braise. So dang good!
Respect, birria is a Mexican classic.
Hello Greg, another Killer one ! These looked absolutely delicious.

Being a born and bred San Diegan, Mexican cuisine seems so incomplete without cilantro.
Awesome video. Birria tacos are my favorite. I make them all the time. Everyone else here likes them also.
Amazing looking tacos. Yes, I do like cilantro. Cheers, Greg! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
#GotToLoveCilantro Nice and easy recipe. Big hug from Puerto Rico!
Love Cilantro! and the Magpul jersey!!!!
My wife cannot eat cilantro either. She says it tastes like soap to her. Unfortunately not everyone loves cilantro. I love your videos by the way. Great job! The tacos look delicious.
Those tacos look amazing, Greg! Perfectly done!
Thanks so much, Daymon!

Greg, you need a Magpul cutting board!.......Looks Fantastic
These are a real treat🌵🌶️
They definitely look amazing ,kinda like El pastor but with beef.
Looks fantastic! I like Cilantro, but rarely remember to buy it. I should probably grow some😊
Nice to see you making a great video again!
Gotta love the cilantro!
Looks really good! My grocery store has had beef shanks on sale recently, so might give this recipe a try with those. Oh, and I’m definitely on team cilantro.
Thanks for sharing now I've got to give this a try on mine. Look great
Hope you enjoy!
Great video Greg!!!
Greg a nice icy cold Dos Equis would wash those tacos down nicely!! 😊
Looks so delicious.
Cheers, Jonathan!
Looks so good 🔥🔥🔥
Of course these look amazing Greg.

Awesome!
Greg, don't you think dried chilies are underrated? The mix of different kinds bring so much compleity of heat and fruitiness. Thanks for the cook!

LOL! Thanks for stopping in! You're a great dad!
I hate cilantro too. 😂

I love cilantro but as was mentioned it's genetic.
Cabbage is the same way.
YES PLEASE
Wow!😊
My mom didn’t care for cilantro…thankfully I didn’t get that gene 😆
Great cook Greg, it’s wats for dinner!!
Damn Greg, I would eat these and wash it down with a Margarita 🍹
I love cilantro. However it's an acquired flavor.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 classic way
These look amazing and I really like that cooker. But I gotta admit, I HATE cilantro.
Can you try making the arch deluxe from McDonald's please
I think I will make some tamales with the birria meat. I will use some of the consume in the masa of course.
This would make great tamales!

4:10 Did you remove the tallow when the meat went back into the dutch oven?
Great question, I should have addressed. No, I left the tallow in the Dutch Oven. Thanks!
I have the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap :( I still try it fairly often to see if I can grow out of it or that I built up a tolerance to it.

Not exactly the same but works for me
Oblong smash burger, pepper jack, telera roll, caramelized onions, avocado crema, pork belly.
I'm one of the 10%. NO CILANTRO! Parsley for Me.
Since you asked, I actually hate the soapy taste of cilantro 😅
My wife and I hate cilantro.
Holy crap you Americans use A LOT of salt!
Two seconds in, That Is All Wrong!!! Arrghhhh!!!!
What are you rambling on about?
There are two types of people; people who love cilantro, and criminals.
Magpul yes - cilantro no
Sorry, can't eat Cilantro. Taste like soap to me.😎👍
I’ll bet this is really good but I can promise this is not traditional. Your consumé looks like a paste almost and not like…well, consumé 😪
Looks good, what type of tacos shells do you use?
I make these and they never look that good lol
