I want to put one of those shitty wooden ones in the corner of my room and all it will do is dab and there will be a sign above it that will just read the word ‘idiot’ with an arrow pointing to it. I can’t do that yet because Mom wont let me buy one cause their that bad.
Edit: just realized that the figures Jazza got look very poor in quality and the box is missing the holographic logo, those are definitely counterfeit, there are LOTS of counterfeits floating around and their boxes look identical to the real ones, so be very careful! I used to have one, it was very expensive, then I started to use Clipstudio's 3D body for reference so I stopped using my Body-chan, I gave it to a friend who wanted to learn. Nowadays I don't worry about anatomy anymore and I just draw following my heart, sometimes my stuff turns out looking better than if I had a model, sometimes it looks worse.
yep they are definitely fake, I had the male figure and he is not that flimsy at all! and while replacing the hands is a bit fiddly all the ones ive tried fit on to the arm
I have and use both. Ironically the female is less flexible compared to the bulky male model. And judging by how extremely fragile your figures (especially the female) look, I'm not sure if they're the 'authentic' ones as there have been loads of bootlegs out there. I usually only use them when drawing characters in tough camera angles but they do the job quite fine. SH Figurearts did release some updated versions with supposedly better joints and more defined proportions, as well as more weapons/props, but they're hard to find in the international market.
@MadmanWithPie Im really glad I preordered mine online when they were first released back then. I really wanted to get the updated versions but I just cant trust online sellers nowadays because of all the bootlegs. Especially not from some random ad on intsagram.
I think theyre fake as well, the real ones are €80 and the ones he showed about €40. On aliexpress you can get em for €12 i think its just that bootleg
From what it looks to be the ‘body-kun’ website, it looks to be the official one. The reason why the price is 40 is because of a sale that ends in a few hours. They even have these limited edition ‘world tour figures’ of body/Chan-Kun painted with some symbols I can’t make out on them.
@@LadyChickadeeful I checked the site and I have to say that the authenticity if any of these figures are very sketchy. The chibi fig is definitely a knockoff since it has a figma stand (the body-kun/chan line is made by bandai tamashii nations). I have no way of telling if the other two are legit or not from the video but they seem to do what there supposed do and I guess that's fine enough if you aren't picky on things like that. Then again, if theyre selling cheap knockoffs for the price of an authentic one, that theres a different problem. Edit: After comparing the boxes, the ones jazza has are definitely bootlegs.
Yes you were a G.I.Joe fan, so much so that you were always STEALING mine, AND BREAKING THEM! Maybe someday I'll be able to forgive you for that. At least some have survived, still have them in fact, lol, just not as many as I would have if not for your. . . delicate touch (you know what I'm talking about). Great video bro!
You could try out a program called DesignDoll - the base version is free (but still has a lot of stuff you can do) It does have it's flaws, but it helped me a LOT
They have the fakes of these on aliexpress, theyre more fragile and cheaply made. But they come with all accesories and are really good overall. Used em for several sketches
Is it just me, or is Jazza's avatar in the thumbnail really cool?? Like, the avatar usually has a large head and a small body, but in the thumbnail, his head and body are a bit more even. Idk I'm just not used to seeing it like that 😂😂
It's more accurate in terms of proportion which is a nice touch considering the topic of the video, the avatar in the thumbnail even has 5 fingers compared to the typical Jazza avatar. :D
Looks like you ended up with Figma brand knock-offs. I've got them too, but my regular man and woman are the line that are as "budget" as your chibi figure. My man's right elbow join is broken after using them for like 5 drawings. They are definitely better than nothing for reference when I can't find a photo reference in the position I want, but they're not perfect by any means, and they are fragile and limited in flexibility, as you noticed.
Isn't Figma the Good Smile Company brand? SH Figuarts is the posable brand by Bandai, or similar figures. Though I do think he got bootlegs, other companies make similar figures. Bandai have different licences so occasionally you'll find characters as figuarts you won't find as figmas (eg Dragon Ball.)
Figma has it's own totally different figures, the "archetype" line, that is basically the base model of their other figures. These aren't those, and their ones aren't low quality. However there are a lot of knockoffs and remouldings of both, and I would not be surprised if yours and jazza's were those ones. 1st party body-kuns/chans have documented joint issues from what I know (did a bunch of research on them like a year ago, I have a pair from ebay that is nearly definitely a remould). I found I could just press the joints back together when they broke on mine but I haven't had an elbow break yet so idk
REVIEW; Professional (me) and Beginner (friend) I have both kun and chan and I can tell you that, when you are skilled in drawing proportions already, these will just be like training wheels; you might not really need them but it's good to have them anyways Is it worth the money? it depends if you're patient enough to position them, if you are a beginner that needs to learn/practice proportions and/or if you can really see yourself sitting down and actively using these since I couldn't find any use in these, other than not being able to find online references (rare case) but needing a clear view of what I got in my head because it's a complex and new pose (but getting frustrated after a while cuz the limbs arent flexible/durable enough) I gave them to a friend that just started off with proportions to try out and see if it works for her After she used them both multiple times, she says she would rather stick to online references, but it'd be good to have them as a guide for more complex poses (like I said) Here's what I take from all this: 1) If you're a beginner and need to practice proportions, then online references will suffide easy enough 2) If you want to try new and difficult poses, but you aren't good at imagining the parts where the figure might lack in posture, then this ain't it 3) If you ARE good at imagining parts that aren't "the right way wanted" (so you'd have to know how to draw proportions already) and you can't ever find the pose you got in mind online? Then go for it And also, if you can't decide on whether to buy kun or chan: buy kun, you can just draw him smaller and more slim-thicc (if you're going for that) and give him breasts, and you'll be gucci (And I personally use them for recreating dance poses and they are THE BEST CHOICE if you often times draw two people interacting with each other in a fairly complex pose, like ice skating f. ex.) Hope this could help, if you got questions, just ask right away :)
Companies have been perfecting action figures for DECADES. Why the hell is it still so damn hard to find good, sturdy, and poseable drawing mannequins. If there are any.
I mean, you can get the real ones for like, 70$? The guy here definitely shows cheap bootleg versions. Never seen a real one for sale around here, so I can’t say how much better it would be, but still, it definitely wouldn’t be as flimsy.
I have SH figuarts figures, and these seem to be bootleg versions, Bandai usually has really good quality to their products and these just don’t seem to be at their level of quality
OPTIMUS FUZION I have all the versions of the actual Bandai made ones too. But they can be flimsy sometimes, for some reason the female figs always have weaker joints. I think because they’re smaller I guess.
I have these bodies, and have hade them for a year or two based on the instagram adds. I haves used them for a few projects and I completely agree with all Jazzas comments, I struggle with foreshortening and they helped. I am in Art school right now and am learning things classically. But they do make cool shelf props, and I am actually using them for a project this week. I give them a 6.5/10, don’t believe the hype, just watch the video. (My female was not as delicate, and mine were black... get the grey ones)
The majority of the ads you see are for the Knock-Off versions. They retail here in the states for around $70 each. I bought the Figma Archtype Male and Female figs. Mine are knock offs, but I am happy with them for what I am using them for...reference. I paid $20 for the pair
I like the idea of having something for reference if I just can't get the pose that I want through my usual stick figure and basic shapes roughs...but just looking at them...i don't think they would be useful for most things...maybe if they were a little bigger, with joints that could be tightened/loosened (kind of like a high quality stop motion armature)...but, your using a camera anyway...just take a photo of yourself, or someone else (with their permission of course). I guess on the bright side though, Jazzaquin has some little friends to hang out with now!
Something I would use them fore: When I’m drawing my comics or drawing manga series they would be really helpful. I need to work on my perspectives and a little bit on the body shape too. In other words I really need them. I’m tired of looking up references on the internet all the time. I have small hands so maybe it will go a little better for me^^
You guys should look into istebraks portrait studio. It's a digital version of this. And if your pc can handle it, the lighting in real time is pretty impressive
They ^are^ fun and do help with proportions and specifics like... "how much of the foot would I see if...?" If something in your drawing doesn't look quite right then they can help suggest what might be wrong. Having said that... Mine are in my desk cupboard and they only come out when I'm reaching for something behind them. If I want a quick pose I more often use the little articulated Mega Construx action figures that I use for stop motions. N.B. I might have a different make or earlier model but mine do feel quite robust.
@@0rderandChaos Mine were made by Figma. I bought them off Amazon about 3-4 years ago. I *think* they were around £20 for each at the time. A little pricey but I can't remember there being all the other brands around at that time.
I think that if you have a hard time drawing bodies (me). It would be great to have them for digital drawing. Since you can picture it and draw or even trace if you're having a serious hard time.
*FineSarcasm* , im trying to save you from a lot of trouble .. you dont need a class for that , you can do this at home , watch just some figure drawing tuts here on youtube and then draw 100 to 200 figures, after that youll be amazed by yourself and have the motivation to do another 100 on a higher level(which you achieved automagically) , after that you will have the body structure down , so much that you can manipulate it in any shape , you will see the difference between crude figures and where the detail sets in , you can see the line of of action and construct any pose from your head , just by training 1 or 2 weeks with full dedication
@@goku21youtub Well I guess we all learn differently XD Idk if that'll work for me, but it does sound cheaper. Either way, everyone has a different way of learning stuff
FineSarcasm well practising a lot obviously makes better, but you will have to draw A LOT, like several hours a day to see difference in a month, and you do need time for that :P
For the young starting artists I've gifted these too, I had them pose them, photograph, then load into their sketchbook, or such apps, then set a new layer to practice drawing in a trace process; setting light angles to study shadows, etc. in the photo step. It does help them with repetition to visualize angles, etc. On occasion, I myself do the same when I need a specific problematic pose of a rider on a horse. I also find these figures equally useful in miniature designs (dollhouses/vignettes)...the are perfect to lay with my designs sketches for furniture, layouts, etc when I'm drafting plans for building (ie scratch built prayer kneelers for a chapel scene). I find them very handy, thinking outside of the box, quite often.
You guys should try DesignDoll, it'sthe software version of the Body-Chan dolls but it's soooooooo much better. Got it a year ago and it's completely changed how I approach my art!
I agree. There are tons of online posing apps and resources that are free that do exactly the same thing as these dolls. I don't know about DesignDoll, but I use Magic Poser on my phone. You have full control over the fingers too so you're not limited to plastic hands. you can't break anything, and you have undo buttons if something accidentally messes up. and there are plenty of props.
I have both body kun’s (I have had zero problems with the female or male figure so not sure why your parts seem flimsy) and I find them super useful it’s just that I forget to use them sometimes! I find when I want something at a SPECIFIC angle they are perfect! And the fact that they come with accessories is helpful as well. I find myself posing them for some wicked action pictures rather than studying them 😂, but overall, I would recommend maybe only getting one since they are pricy.
I doubt he would; to my knowledge Jazza isn't an experienced stop-motion animator, and these figures seem really flimsy, which would make them quite frustrating to work with.
I actually bought the male figure for stop motion. *I bought the offical product* The amount of articulation ( moving joints/parts) is great for that purpose. Ive only made a few test animations with the figure but i highly recommend them for stopmotion animators who are looking to practise movement and character traits. Since it come with some many hand shapes, I tried making the figure do scissor paper rock (it didn't look that great but with patience and practice you could make it look really good)
For anyone who wants to buy these for their own art: Get DesignDoll by terawell! It's a 3d posing program, and you don't have to have any 3d skills to be able to use it. I use it for all my drawings, and it's great for foreshortening and practicing different body types. You can fully customize the figure and put it in positions that aren't possible for a posing doll or in real life. The only downsides are that you can't add props (you can add a box, but not sophisticated props like guns or books) and you can only model one figure at a time. You can download the program for free on their website! (The only difference between the free and paid version is you can't save any files in the free version, so just take some screenshots of your model)
@@Exerionius-old "(1) Except is cost a shit ton of money and demo (2) crashes avery 30-40 seconds if you try to move fingers or limbs." --- (1) there is a free version. (2) Maybe your PC is just shit.
@@Exerionius-old personally, I have a really cheap pc and it never crashes for me. I can't run Photoshop and the program at the same time because my CPU is weak, so I can only run one program at a time, but it never crashes for me
I've used the free version a bunch of times for complicated poses or angles, and I've had 4 models interacting at once. My biggest issue with the program is that the base pose for the characters is not good posture, and the rig is designed around that making many of the points of articulation around the torse break when pushed to any noticable degree- it takes a lot of finagling to get the model into any slouching sitting position.
I have these! They’re way better than the wooden mannequin, but I got them 2 years ago and only seriously incorporated them into a piece of art once. Worth the expense?? Not so much, but I love the pose ability, but I’m afraid I might break it at the same time!
The style is made to be anime propertied, theres other varieties and would be great if they had a western versions but personally the anime version doesn’t seem bad
i got them as a two for one offer some parts were flimsy on the female and i wrote a complaint. i got two more so i got 4 figures for the price of one, and they do the trick. my male ones can dab after all haha
@@egg9960 feels bad man... I prefer the male ones all the way but I'm happy with the figures I have. They help me a lot but I rather don't tough the females and just use the male ones and then "make them female" when drawing
@@egg9960 ngl I have small hands so I don't really have an issue with that :'D But I can imagine how difficult it is with even just slightly bigger hands
Do you know how genuinely exciting it is when a new Jazza video pops up?! Thanks for explaining these, I’ve always felt like a fraud for not truly understanding how to best utilize them.
I use these quite often, and sometimes I even *roleplay* with them. I know, that sounds weird, but they're really nifty to roleplay with. And they're really helpful when it comes to drawing out scenes from the many animes I'm currently working. (And by many I mean I'm seriously working on like 7 right now. Some people think "Oh that's not a lot" but if you're actually hand drawing, voicing, and animating *EVERY* scene, you'd know it takes time)
I suspect that the male and female figures are bootlegs, and I definitely know that the chibi figure is. It's a bootleg of an Obitsu 11 cm body. They're normally used to make custom dolls, which is why they don't have as many hand options and why they don't come with props. I have two authentic Obitsu 11 cm bodies, and mine pose great. The joints are solid, and they hold poses really well. They also have magnets in their feet that help them stand on a metal disc they come with (you can also get ones without magnets, I believe). You can find authentic ones at Obitsu's website (also known as Parabox), as well as at online hobby shops like Hobby Search and The Junkyspot (not spon 😜). As for the Body-kun and Body-chan figures, there are other, more realistic figures made by Max Factory, in their Figma Archetype series. I've seen them on Hobby Search, and authentic ones pop up on Amazon now and then. Anyway, sorry for the novel! Hope this helps anyone looking for these, themselves! I considered getting a couple of these, especially to practice perspective and foreshortening. My characters always look like their arms or legs are just horrendously swollen instead of going into the foreground, lol.
The originals are hard to find now. Everywhere on Amazon has the original's pictures but when you actually get the models they're complete knockoffs but I still use one.
My Artsy News Years Resolution was to get better at anatomy so I always wondered how useful these would be. Very helpful! Thank you so much Jazza 😍👏. Any anatomy tips would be appreciated ...
I've got both of the Body Kun figures and I'll say that even my female figures right arm falls off.... alot. I really do think the female is just not as sturdy as the male
GeneralZahaki i think u might have gotten a fake one. there are alot of bootlegs of figures made by japanese figure companies that are cheaper but are worse (such as if the joints pop off alot). real ones are also fragile, but the popping off joints shouldn’t happen
GeneralZahaki I don’t have any of the Body Kun models but I want to tell you why this is most likely happening. Sure it could be a bootleg, but since the female body is smaller and more delicate it has less for the limbs to connect to while the male body has many parts that are more detailed, especially since he is bigger.
@@uwu_or_whatever it's how the arm is attached. In afew poses it just pop off. Doesn't really bother me. Blu-Tack fixes it fine. I was just saying that mine also does it as Jazza wasn't sure if it was just his.
I have the more anime proportioned versions of the Body-kun and Body-chan, and the build quality is much better than these, due to newer molds. I use them fairly often to check up on my foreshortening and to make sure that things are falling generally into proportion. Great video Jazza!
I think you can take a picture of your desired pose, import it into your digital drawing app and trace it, then that trace can be helpful when you are drawing without tracing. Great video! I wanted one a long time ago, but I don’t think it’s for me. 😃
This reminds me that I should use my body-kun figurine more often. Luckily I don't have the problem of loose limbs like Jazza has, but it's frustrating to see that the quality can differ from each figurine Also I think one of the pros is definitely also when you can use two of these and have them interact with each other is really helpful. At least..I always find characters interacting verryy difficult to draw.....
I'd recommend Istebrak's Portrait Studio - it has two poseable figures along with a bunch of other useful models, and you can also choose your light source, light strength, add secondary light, etc. :)
I actually have a 3D printed one! And I really love her especially after seeing this review. This is the vendor I bought her from: www.shapeways.com/shops/mr_props They're much cheaper than the models in the video too. Also, they're held together with wire, making them drastically more posable and flexible. The down side is that you have to assemble them yourselves (wire not included) and the hands are a little strange XD I purchased the 1/16th female doll and she works really well for me.
@@trinitygrimes2011 yeah, it is. 3D printing is amazing. The one I purchased is about 5" tall and comprised of 32 separate parts (not including the hands) and she has full range of movement and then some. She's surprisingly detailed for being 5". I did about a month or two of research before I bought her. I wanted something cheep and flexible, that modeling doll exceeded expectations.
I tried buying one of these 2 years ago and I'm still waiting for them to come in the mail. $80 just went into the toilet when I realized I was never getting them.
Ok jazza new challenge for you I know I have commented on your previous vid also but I want u to try this challenge because I know it would be elic if I tried it *I challenge you to take on the most detailed circle challenge* I have also done this challenge I challenged ZHC also and he took the challenge so I think we can see another battle between u and ZHC
Edit: holy jeezums this isnt my whole opinion, ya dont gotta keep repeating what others are saying, i get it edit 2-i changed my pfp and if ur reading the replies here my new pfp is NOT drawn by me, its a screenshot from panty and stocking I feel like these models are for people who aren't super experienced, and they weren't very useful for Jazza since he's already quite skilled lol
That's exactly what I was thinking. Jazza, being a good artist, can visualise the pose he wants and transfer it to his art. These doles would help people who are still struggling in that.
That isn't true, only people that doesn't draw say that, if you want to have a rigorous drawing with complex poses you need models, jazza has photos for reference and he anatomy isn't as good as you think.
@@rodolfoo3015 the only time you dont need reference is say you've drawn a particular hand pose ovet and with reference. Eventually you get to a point were you can drae it from memory, but even then a reference is still more accurate.
Jazza, thank you so much for doing this video. I saw these figures on Pinterest and wondered if they were worth buying. The Bad: I think figures like these would be better if they were larger and sturdier. And I wish the human muscular anatomy were more defined on each figure. The Good: Jazza, you pointed out how posing the figures would allow you to then draw the figures from virtually any angle, giving great assistance with perspective. However, I think you forgot to mention shadows. As you were turning the figures, I could see how the light was falling on their various curves. This could be very useful if you posed the figure, then photographed it with harsh side lighting. Shadows on the figure and perhaps the shadow the figure cast on its surroundings would be an invaluable reference. Overall I think I might be buying them. Or maybe wait until someone makes better ones. But clearly the idea is sound and there is a real need for them.
I use them once and they've sitting on my shelf since. It takes a lot of time to make the pose. Just take images of yourself in front of the mirror, it's easier
This is why I like the newer Body Chan and body kun figures (that are the real ones and not these fakes, you’ve already noticed of course). As I was watching you I noticed you had acquired the previous versions copies. The newer ones (I own both versions and the realistic models as well) feel delicate but can take a beating and are WAY more easily poseable. Better articulation and range of motion are in the newer versions. I believe they are called Body Chan 2.0 and Body Kun 2.0. I hope you get the chance to check those ones out and give your thoughts on them.
Tbh, instead of investing into this stuff and making a pose you’re satisfied for HOURS, I’d rather do it the old way and just take pictures of my own body or look up other human references for practicing to draw poses and such. I don’t like tedious things like these.
And how do you handle it when it's a pose you can't physically do? Or if you needed an angle where you can't set your camera? I'm not sure why Jazza was having such a hard time getting them to pose the way he wanted, but for me fiddling with one of these figures for about 2 minutes gets results that work for me, and it's much easier than trying to hold myself in a difficult pose or getting unusual angles. But that really does come down to what your art is about, not so much what is better or worse.
Here's the thing, I want to draw women and not just men. I can find a lot of poses for women online, and I've been able to get cousins and friends to pose for me for a piece of art before, but I don't think I'll be able to get every pose I could possibly need
Really enjoyed watching this video, nice to see an in depth review and that you actually used them for reference. Thanks for showing us all exactly what you can do with these.
Like you I was super excited when I first got these. I quickly ran into the same problems you did. I've used them maybe once, otherwise they sit on my shelf getting dusty. However, watching this vid has made me want to get them out and play with them again.
similarly to these, there's an app called magic poser that gives you simular models you can pose, add hair to, and even clothes (but the clothes are finicky) I use the app cuz I don't have moneyz...
I have these. I ran into the same issues. It's frustrating that it's marketed as being super dynamic to pose but you end up have to compromise. Also, they feel so breakable. The one thing I like about them is how easy the grey models make it to interrupt light and shadow. I always struggle with whether or not i'm shading too much or not enough. But the grey dolls simplify it for me.
for anatomy references that you can manually create, i recommend design doll. it's a free app/software in which you can change the pose, lighting. you can even change the size, height, fat, and pose the hands in any way you want
I tried Easy Poser and the damn thing didn't want to work for me unless I fiddled with a single pose for half an hour. Everything kept twisting in ways that mutilated the model and I kept having to restart. Everybody always praises it, but maybe it's just harder for people who have wider fingers or something? I even tried using a stylus and it kept doing the same thing. It was just so finicky that I got frustrated and uninstalled it. It's a shame because it's an amazing idea, but something just was not right with it.
Why not use superhero action figures? Just get one that is cheaper, I'm sure you could find a cheap one online. Plus, some, such as the Marvel Legends, come with extra hand poses, heads and props. Since they are meant to resemble different characters they also have different body shapes that can be very useful, and if the colors are too distracting buy a used one (so you don't ruin a new one someone might want to collect) and just spray paint it black. Hopefully this helps:)
You can get them on Aliexpress for 13 bucks. Assuming Jazza has the original ones, there is literally no difference in quality at all. Don’t overpay, their value isn’t worth 50 or even 100 bucks on some sites.
@@percyaguirre2970 DO NOT buy the knock off versions of these. The quality is most certainly different. I have both bootleg and official versions of these and the cheap one literally broke with in minutes of posing it. It's worth it to just save up the extra cash until you can buy the official ones if you really want one. Jazza bought the knock off ones that's why it gave him problems.
Yeah, I use like 50 different references to get the actual pose. I’m just now starting with people, so I really don’t have much experience in that department 😂
I agree with what Jazza says about the Body-Chan, I bought it and I feel totally ripped off because it’s extremely difficult to pose her, the hands take so much effort to put on, and a lot of parts come off. I don’t know about the male one, but I don’t recommend the female one. While it feels like a waste, I can’t bring myself to use the body chan and it’s just kind of wasting away on my shelf
Thank you so much for this video! I've also seen these all over Instagram too and thought about getting them myself to help improve with drawing different poses.
Just download a poser app. I use easy poser by Madcat games. It's available for iOS and Android cells and tables. It's has a lot of options for the reference. Animé male and female, hero male and female styles and teen to small child male and female styles.

Please take a quick look around and see if you can find a website with the authentic models and include the link, it’s help a lot

REVIEW; Professional (me) and Beginner (friend)
I have both kun and chan and I can tell you that, when you are skilled in drawing proportions already, these will just be like training wheels; you might not really need them but it's good to have them anyways
Is it worth the money?
it depends if you're patient enough to position them, if you are a beginner that needs to learn/practice proportions and/or if you can really see yourself sitting down and actively using these
since I couldn't find any use in these, other than not being able to find online references (rare case) but needing a clear view of what I got in my head because it's a complex and new pose (but getting frustrated after a while cuz the limbs arent flexible/durable enough) I gave them to a friend that just started off with proportions to try out and see if it works for her
After she used them both multiple times, she says she would rather stick to online references, but it'd be good to have them as a guide for more complex poses (like I said)
Here's what I take from all this:
1) If you're a beginner and need to practice proportions, then online references will suffide easy enough
2) If you want to try new and difficult poses, but you aren't good at imagining the parts where the figure might lack in posture, then this ain't it
3) If you ARE good at imagining parts that aren't "the right way wanted" (so you'd have to know how to draw proportions already) and you can't ever find the pose you got in mind online?
Then go for it
And also, if you can't decide on whether to buy kun or chan: buy kun, you can just draw him smaller and more slim-thicc (if you're going for that) and give him breasts, and you'll be gucci
(And I personally use them for recreating dance poses and they are THE BEST CHOICE if you often times draw two people interacting with each other in a fairly complex pose, like ice skating f. ex.)
Hope this could help, if you got questions, just ask right away :)
thank you, xx
This really helps tnx ^ v ^
Thanks

Dance poses are hard.
How did you write so much.. *^*

They don't look like they're specifically made for anime too, unlike the ones in the video :D
I agree that taking photos of other people works too but these things help with those really dynamic aerial poses and difficult camera angles.
These are also the knockoffs so there is that as well.
The official ones don't have some of the issues he was having.

I think that if you have a hard time drawing bodies (me). It would be great to have them for digital drawing. Since you can picture it and draw or even trace if you're having a serious hard time.
No, just do a few days of figure drawing, you will improve extremely,in just that timeframe already , after a week any pose will not be a problem
@@goku21youtub well not everyone can go to a figure drawing class XD Sometimes this is easier I guess
*FineSarcasm* , im trying to save you from a lot of trouble .. you dont need a class for that , you can do this at home , watch just some figure drawing tuts here on youtube and then draw 100 to 200 figures, after that youll be amazed by yourself and have the motivation to do another 100 on a higher level(which you achieved automagically) , after that you will have the body structure down , so much that you can manipulate it in any shape , you will see the difference between crude figures and where the detail sets in , you can see the line of of action and construct any pose from your head ,
just by training 1 or 2 weeks with full dedication
@@goku21youtub Well I guess we all learn differently XD Idk if that'll work for me, but it does sound cheaper. Either way, everyone has a different way of learning stuff
FineSarcasm well practising a lot obviously makes better, but you will have to draw A LOT, like several hours a day to see difference in a month, and you do need time for that :P

Oh my goodness had me dying
Your studying picture was just so frickin' cute!! I want a print of it lol! Great work as always Jazza!
I'm pretty sure those are knockoffs lol

Jazza got counterfeits unfortunately...
Try stop motion with these figures plzplz..
I doubt he would; to my knowledge Jazza isn't an experienced stop-motion animator, and these figures seem really flimsy, which would make them quite frustrating to work with.
That would kill him--
I actually bought the male figure for stop motion.

It should be her right foot but he drew the left foot instead

I've got both of the Body Kun figures and I'll say that even my female figures right arm falls off.... alot.
I really do think the female is just not as sturdy as the male
The same thing happened to mine. And I always thought it was my fault for being too rough. Because I heard it is fragile
GeneralZahaki i think u might have gotten a fake one. there are alot of bootlegs of figures made by japanese figure companies that are cheaper but are worse (such as if the joints pop off alot). real ones are also fragile, but the popping off joints shouldn’t happen
Ryoufangirl 45 these japanese figures are fragile, but if the joints pop off easily then it is most likely a knock off.
Yeah, those are way better quality because the ones Jazza got were fake :( theyre cheaply made counterfeit ones
I think you can take a picture of your desired pose, import it into your digital drawing app and trace it, then that trace can be helpful when you are drawing without tracing. Great video! I wanted one a long time ago, but I don’t think it’s for me. 😃
Here's an art challenge take body chan or kun and pose it and sculpt over it with super sculpie clay to make a model
This reminds me that I should use my body-kun figurine more often. Luckily I don't have the problem of loose limbs like Jazza has, but it's frustrating to see that the quality can differ from each figurine
Also I think one of the pros is definitely also when you can use two of these and have them interact with each other is really helpful. At least..I always find characters interacting verryy difficult to draw.....
Joyce-Art what website did you get it?
The ones Jazza has are counterfeit
I have 5 of those, and they’re really useful to me for drawing human figures
I'd recommend Istebrak's Portrait Studio - it has two poseable figures along with a bunch of other useful models, and you can also choose your light source, light strength, add secondary light, etc. :)
I wonder if you could 3D print a better version of these?

The details would probably be too fine for a 3D printer.

They're much cheaper than the models in the video too. Also, they're held together with wire, making them drastically more posable and flexible. That's exactly what I was thinking. Jazza, being a good artist, can visualise the pose he wants and transfer it to his art. These doles would help people who are still struggling in that.
It's not how it's working. Artist always need a reference.
Star Brand he bought counterfeit ones by accident, so if you are getting them I'd recommend the ACTUAL ones
I'm pretty sure they're better quality
Great video mate keep up all the good work!!💪🤟💕❤️
I use them once and they've sitting on my shelf since. It takes a lot of time to make the pose. Just take images of yourself in front of the mirror, it's easier
"that one looks like a smiley face"
That's how i learn japanese characters
This is why I like the newer Body Chan and body kun figures (that are the real ones and not these fakes, you’ve already noticed of course). As I was watching you I noticed you had acquired the previous versions copies. The newer ones (I own both versions and the realistic models as well) feel delicate but can take a beating and are WAY more easily poseable. Better articulation and range of motion are in the newer versions. I believe they are called Body Chan 2.0 and Body Kun 2.0.
I hope you get the chance to check those ones out and give your thoughts on them.
*Or you can just get ...*
*"DESIGN DOLL" SOFTWARE.*
The models even look the same
Yup. Magic poser is a bae
Or just load a simple character in any other 3d software
Clip studio paint EX has 3d posable dolls to draw over.
Except it s cost a shit ton of money and the demo crashes every 30-40 seconds if you try to move fingers or limbs. Great software.
It honestly warms my heart to see how your creativity transformed those figurines ☺🤗☺️
Tbh, instead of investing into this stuff and making a pose you’re satisfied for HOURS, I’d rather do it the old way and just take pictures of my own body or look up other human references for practicing to draw poses and such. I don’t like tedious things like these.
Same
Oirey or u could make a 3D model and use that as a reference
@@crinsombone5380 get a posing app
Why didn’t I find these sooner? I love these! I make real bad proportions! anything from the chest down is DEAD to me. I need this MAGIC.
Really enjoyed watching this video, nice to see an in depth review and that you actually used them for reference. Thanks for showing us all exactly what you can do with these.
Me: * sees laws Pose in the thumbnail*
Also me: * clicks as fast as I can*
One piece fan I see you're a man of culture
Oh my gosh mah phone is almost dead and i went straight to this video. This was worth it.
First world problems.
Like you I was super excited when I first got these. I quickly ran into the same problems you did. I've used them maybe once, otherwise they sit on my shelf getting dusty. However, watching this vid has made me want to get them out and play with them again.
Animate them, then they will be useful😃
That actually not a bad idea 😀
I spent my high school graduation money on these and regretted it almost immediately. I have never used them for art. :/
I also find that it helps a lot with understanding lighting and shadows and feeling more confident about it.
similarly to these, there's an app called magic poser that gives you simular models you can pose, add hair to, and even clothes (but the clothes are finicky)
I use the app cuz I don't have moneyz...
There's a desktop version too!
Lol an instagram ad literally used one of Jazza's footage posing the figures for the same product, under a different shop name: giravo... or something
I'm too poor to afford good drawing models so I use my dad's mass action figure collection
The chibi drawing reminds me of Astro Boy. Really like the "couple studying" pose, though.
for anatomy references that you can manually create, i recommend design doll. it's a free app/software in which you can change the pose, lighting. you can even change the size, height, fat, and pose the hands in any way you want
Got these as a gift. The hands didn’t fit on my model either and the female model broke easily. Not worth it. Just invest in the Easy Poser app.
THANK YOU!! I never even thought about something like that existing! Its just what i needed, thank you!
Whoa, thanks for recommending! I'm gonna try it out!
I've been using pose apps a lot to, different ones for hands and faces. It eally helps me to practice, without spending money on mannequins 😇
These ones in the video were counterfeit. Did yours have the holographic logo on the box?
I tried Easy Poser and the damn thing didn't want to work for me unless I fiddled with a single pose for half an hour. Everything kept twisting in ways that mutilated the model and I kept having to restart. Everybody always praises it, but maybe it's just harder for people who have wider fingers or something? I even tried using a stylus and it kept doing the same thing. It was just so finicky that I got frustrated and uninstalled it. It's a shame because it's an amazing idea, but something just was not right with it.
I want a set of these, but damn they are pricey.
@@youshimimi Ya, Ive been getting adds on Instagram for them. And each one costed $50 or more, not worth it! Thanks for this information.
Thank you so much Jazza, you are one of the few that inspired me to draw. You are awesome!
Man I need one of those! Googling references rarely ever gives me a pose I want 😭
Blender 3d
If you haven't already give Senshistock on DeviantArt a try, her posing library is probably the best I've seen in a single collection.
Get a friend to model the pose and take a picture for reference :)
Marina Zhang you might have bought a knock-off
Thank you so much for this video!
I have that too and it's really great and easy to use plus it's free
FUCKING POSER!
