Look at how much merch the kid is selling right now he's killing every kid and even parents want to have Deegan's signature. Deegan just has style and his own personality following up with his dad's metal mulisha style which is selling out races as well.

I just want to see pro riders giving it they're all. I don't care if they have tats or pink hair, or if they're black or white. They all have they're own personality.

Hell look at the backlash Deegs took last year when he grabbed the American flag on the podium. Some people on YT said it was wrong because the sport has a host of nations represented. My first thought was when the podium they can grab their countries flag and wave it!!!! I say fu$k it and let the riders be themselves and you will grow the sport. Fortunately it takes someone like Deegs who has $$$ to break the mold!!!!

Last time it was a team decision and Star didn't want to spend all that money for just one or their riders and all that support to go

MX is showcasing the Skill/Ability/Attitude/Desire of current riders well. Many racers are staying competitive in the sport longer. They can do things us beer n pizza on the couch fans can't. But don't suppress their true personalities. I like how Deegan is brash with ability-not just a go for broke daredevil. MLB did much the same with letting personality play out-but they are not all the same.

It's also a wealthy sport now, rich and upper middle class just to participate and be competitive at any level. So there is that. Back in the 70’s 80’s and even a little bit into the 1990’s a lot more people could afford to get involved.

As someone who works in major media every single day and new to this channel I can say. Buddy here is correct in everything he is saying if the sport wants to grow. Even the NBA ratings are low because a lot of the narratives have died out. Narratives are everything. Never forget that this is a form of entertainment and you have to entertain. Nobody wants to hear the same post race interview that these guys have been saying for 20 years. Especially this new generation. Politics, sports, everything needs a narrative.
they can be super fit athletes and rockstars. Look at dungey one of the most respectable people you will ever meet but you could not deny how hard he would push to get the win and thats not boring.
I think that’s one of the big things that makes mx so interesting. They are rockstar super badass top notch athletes competing in the most challenging risky sport there is!

I don’t think it’s about being woke. Imagine a young black kid sees Malcom on the gate or racing, and feels inspired because he sees someone that looks like him.
@steyels why does his role model have to be black? When I was a kid I wanted to play pro basketball, my idles were all black! Steve has shared many woke ideals in the past! He actually called Haiden xenophobic for waiving an American flag! MLK said it all when ha said "let a man be judged by the character of his heart , not the color of his skin!". We've walked away from his leadership to keep us separated and therefore easier to control! When it comes to racing, sports or even work, I say let the best man win! If James Stewart want to go into inner cities and promote black youth in MX that's great!

Well the thing about rockstars is the rockstars are not rockstars because of their set that they perform. It's because of what they do outside of the set. And most of these moto/supercross riders don't want to be on camera. They want no attention. I've been watching my whole life and I would walk past most of these people on the street having absolutely no idea who they are

Unfortunately this issue is happening with most major sports. The sports have become so expensive and require so much corporate funding. And now with cancel culture, if someone thinks you went too far, to get smeared all over. “Can’t make the corporation mad because they will replace me” kind of thinking.
I know I'm in the minority and I'm an old fart, but I truly don't care if I see their personalities or not. I'm afraid if too much personality comes out everybody's going to have their cause. As long as the sport never goes woke, I guess do whatever you want to do.
Moto isn’t main stream. It cost a lot of money it’s crazy mental state to get on a bike go WFO narly tracks. I don’t think riders need to be “rockstars” or “bad ass”. They just need more opportunities to show their individual personalities, which is hard in a motorsport where they have no radio coms.
The thing is, these guys don’t need or try to be badass just, watch them RIDE = BADASS🙌

Everything is too politically correct now, especially with the big sponsors the sport has now. Back in the 1980's you could be at a supercross where Larry Huffman is interviewing Bob Hannah. Hannah says, if Howerton comes near me on the track, I'll break his f***in leg! Those guys were badasses back then!
These "Rockstars" need to ask themselves how they like the taste of those "Rippers" a few years from now when their careers start to wane, and these "Rippers" ride off into the sunset with their hard earned cash, cars and homes... This is exactly why I don’t watch racing anymore. They’ve turned the sport into a corporate clown show. I get 99.9% of my updates from Gypsy Tales. These riders need to start standing up. It ain’t all about the money.
