The Arbiter did kill Vannak actually! Got mixed up about Jacob Keys. I do think it was a good emotional fight scene then.

1: Jacob was killed by Thalia, when she was ordered to start the ship's engines.
2: there were only Jackals surrounding him at the time, no Elites in sight. So... how exactly did you mixed up the information there?.
3: the arbiter killing Vannak was a key point that was brought up again and again after the fact. At least 3 times in later episodes. Last time, just after Kai left chief all beaten up, Cortana shows up and tells him: I'm with Makee, and with the Arbiter, the one who killed Vannak.
THAT right there was the thing that made Chief stand up while almost coughing blood. Revenge. It was a pivotal moment.
But you mixed all that up with Jacob Keys being surrounded by Jackals, dying by the fire of the ship.
Make that make sense. How.

If you (because I’m assuming you haven’t) bothered to delve into the lore beyond the games, you’d realise that only the Pod Infector forms cause immediate transformation. Whereas the Flood spores cause the host to go into dormancy (as was shown in the tv show) before transformation

so..... random take, my initial thought when spirit grandma showed up this episode, Is that she is a gravemind illusion. Would explain why it basically lead her to the quarantine zone and release the flood in the first place. And stopping the flood was just to continue to show her that its on her side, and he still has a use for her down on halo to fully release them.

Kwan ha destroyer of the universe and bringer of plagues and decay. You see lore wise the flood never existed in this universe. This flood is a new species called "kwan" and representd the rot she does to the show
Yeah I think she is the Gravemind alluded to existing on the Halo by Guilty Spark. It literally stopped the Flood which isn't something that the "gaesha" could do unless they expand it more in the show. The Gravemind being stuck in one place, but being able to telepathically manipulate people would be interesting, kind of like in Halo 3.
I wouldn’t think a gravemind would be developed just yet. The flood is only in its first stage after being activated for the first time since they mostly died after the forerunners activated the rings.

1: Just a friendly reminder, it's spelled Vannak.
2: This is your overall experience with HaloFollower. This time was about the show, but for the longest time I have caught so many inconsistencies and false information about the games and lore coming from him. I DO NOT think this comes with bad intentions, it just shows how much he cares about the IP, meaning: Bungie = good. 343 = bad. = let's not think about it. Which resonates A LOT with his audience. Remember when a year ago or so he showed "leaked" Halo Infinite cutscenes? cutscenes that were IN GAME for weeks at that moment. He just needed to open the actual game and play multiplayer. He also ranted about the Halo 3 rat being in Infinite's shop... when the damn thing was free and was never in the shop.
All of these? are objectively lies. There is no way around it.
3: THIS very video is being talked about in a few places, people saying: I just saw HaloFollower's review and I caught that thing about the Arbiter yada yad... and you see people responding with something along the lines of: what did you expect, it's HaloFollower.
Why am I here then? because I care about Halo. And this channel has a very significant following. I... want to know what is being said.
If anyone cares just a tiiiiny little bit about what the show is actually trying to say and doing, go to Installation's channel. He has like 40 min. ACTUAL breakdowns about every episode. No, he doesn't do react videos. No he doesn't summarize the episodes. No. That is actual analysis from an actual expert in Halo lore.
At the very least go to HiddenX's channel.
If you care more about quick news or updates on the IP as a whole, yeah, HaloFollower might work for you. Except for when it will not.

Yeah I think this might be the case, if they get a good CGI budget it's highly probable. It's clear from the after episode that 80% of the Flood infections show in the show are actually practical effects so there were obvious limitations

The reason the infected looked like zombies was because it was exposure too spores and bites not a direct infection we’re used too from an infector form, those “zombies” will eventually mutate into the combat forms we’re used too it’s just a slower transition

The Flood makes Halo so much more better and scarier
Season 2 was a bit nostalgic especially when chief held his helmet like the halo infinite trailer. It's leading to what some of us want under their own perspective and I'm not mad about it I enjoyed this season.

Until season 3 drops and it's the same boring shit. They did this with the end of last season. The last episode showed a very video-game Master Chief and fights with the Covenant. That all went away for the most part of season 2 until the last episode which very much felt like halo.

Nah those spores are the flood super-cell, the dust hadn't yet evolved into the super-cell at that stage.

The Forerunners; a hyper-advanced space-fairing civilization that created giant interstellar living ring-world installations couldn't create a Flood cure.
But a 20yo Doctor of Biology can obviously create a cure for her mum in a few hours/days, before she herself dies of starvation or dehydration in a small lab surrounded by Flood.
Sounds exactly like something the writers would come up with!
I think it is dumb too, definitely presumptuous, but it probably won't be immediate and might be used for exposition on the Flood behaviors. She might not find a cure either, but rather some way to slow it or fight it that's unique to human biology. The Forerunners lore wise hint that ancient humanity figured out a way to poison parts of itself so that when the Flood did consume a world it would harm itself. The Flood ultimately was like nope, and just waited for the Forerunners to topple ancient humanity, and then the Flood reasserted itself.
Even though the Forerunners were hyper advanced, they had extreme glaring weaknesses that caused their downfall before they could try for a cure. Examples: Over reliance on AI that revolted, didn't take the Flood seriously or recognize that the Flood super intelligence was actually more advanced in manipulating space, arrogance, over reliance on a caste system that encouraged turning a blind eye to problems, over reliance on the domain which became unusable against the Flood, and a galactic monopoly on military supremacy ensuring their forces really only fought specific ways that did a horrible job at containing Flood ships.
Lore humanity was supposed to actually inherit the galactic mantle and not the Forerunners so it would make sense if they do find some alternative solution.

I thought the slow infection made sense because It wasn't full sized infection forms, it was just microscopic spores. And I don't think that's just a Silver Timeline thing. I always imagined that's how it would be in the main timeline as well. But OF COURSE, Quan gets saved by fuckin "Space Magic" and DOESN'T get eaten by the flood. At that moment, I remembered what I was watching.
I’ve seen a few complaints in this comment section about the flood. In an effort to clear things up, I want to point out that the infection process of the Flood Spores is entirely lore accurate. Many of you are mixing up the infection process of the Pod Infectors (which we see in the games) with the Flood Spores. The Pod Infectors cause a rapid transformation into the combat forms, etc. Whereas the spores cause the host to go into dormancy to produce more FSC (Flood Super Cells).
Thank you so much, this explanation should clear so much conflict because it's totally obvious. I don't get why some seem underwhelmed because the flood spores just don't turn into those pod infectors at an instant, like chill, the parasite itself just woke up after being left untouched for eons. It just needs some god damn time to evolve and to comprehend it's awakening.
That’s not how flood spore work.
Flood spore main purpose is to get inside victims and through a painful process cause infection forums to explode out of them killing time.
They also help convert biomass into flood eggs.
They don’t actually infect people and it seems to take a large number in order to cause the gestation. Cause many characters have been around spore and not infected the arbiter in halo 3 is the best example.
The food also don’t spread through wounds or bites. ( only exception being the Mona Lisa but that seems more like a writing misktake) since we’ve seen bodies and even characters get injured by the flood and not infected.
The show just made them into typical zombies for budget reasons not lore.
@@juliansardina4789 You are partially correct. The dominant progression of the spores transformation will generally lead to the conversion of biomass into incubators to gestate more FSCs.
However, it’s also seen multiple times in lore that the spores can also lead to the infection and transformation of both human and sangheili-alike into combat forms, albeit much slower than pod infectors. This is seen in both Halo Wars (human marines being infected by spore clouds) and the Halo graphic novels (spec-ops elite Bero ‘Kusovai being infected and turned into a combat form via spores).
So it seems as though the tv show has merged the two bits of lore to establish a plausible take on the flood, to which we’ve never seen outside of the games/books.
@@juliansardina4789 I would also like to point out that the Arbiter situation seems to have likely been either been an oversight, or a technical limitation.
There are theories for why the spores had no effect upon the arbiter (such as the Gravemind preventing infection of a vital ally), but they have yet to expand upon it lore-wise.

Great point. At this point, I think anyone that still has enough copium to be a Halo fan is just latching onto whatever good they can. I remember doing the same before Infinite finally shattered that delusion. It’s sad hearing Ron say “just listen to the fans.” Him and us have been saying that for over A DECADE. It’s time to move on. Let Microsoft have its “modern audience” while we engage with things that won’t waste our time.

I can enjoy it. I grew up with the og xbox and halo and my dream as a kid was to see chief in a movie/series.
Its not the best show ever but its not that bad either. Its a lot of fun and i love the fight scenes and the good cgi.
If you hate something that much, then spend your time with something else. Netflix has a ton of series to watch.

@@Hypnostedon I’m glad you liked it. Doesn’t mean it’s above criticism though. Halo hasn’t gotten a proper entry in what, 12 years now? Except for Halo Wars 2, that was good. It’s just that this franchise has so much potential, and it’s been wasted. Accepting mediocrity kills the need for masterpieces. If you like it though, more power to you. I just wish we had something better.
PS: I’m actually also in the middle of replaying Halo 3 haha.

I really wish this arbiter survived. Tbh in some weird way I was rooting for him against master chief because he was just the more interesting and less bitchy character… also given the fact he rebelled against the covenant, it was possible he could’ve ended up on the good side, especially if Makee acted as a better intermediary between him and chief.
Also given the non canon nature of this show, I think it would’ve just been better to keep him around since he was actually written well, instead of getting a bastardized version of Thel like how they ruined chief…

I can see them doing something similar to Halo's First Strike, where they discover how Johnson survives the flood with Boren Syndrome and then do some type of play on that as a quote cure for Halsey.

@@davidrehn7909 think of the writers room like a debate team. They are constantly working together and battling with ideas and flow. Let’s say they have a B+ idea for the episode or season. But now they have to redo their idea/script/treatment to the producers liking and there r 5 producers they have to go through and not every producer is good (this show for example) so now the writers have to rewrite to the producers liking and it may be bad but oh well a check is a check. Then once it’s to the producers liking now it has to go through another revision based on the budget available. Finally after all that they get to film the writers script but guess what! It’s not the original B+ story it first was because that was created without constraints. It’s now this C- script after all those revisions. Unfortunately. So there that’s how it works and how do I know well I’m in the rooms not the halo one tho lol I’m just an OG fan

When chief punched the dashboard in the covenant ship, his arm glows blue. This was Cortana making her way into chiefs armour which was kinda silly but yeah that's how she survived the ship crashing.
I mean, Chief transferred Cortana the same way in Halo 2 when he went to difuse the bomb on Cairo station.

The Flood made no sense in how they acted, why were control room people infected if they didn’t go to the lab, how did they get infected at the same time to all turn at once and why were some people there infected while others weren’t? Why did they just chill there waiting for Dramatic timing from Halsey and Miranda?? Why did one attack while the other was just standing there in the cells???
Can't believe it took me this long to notice, but it's a shame we never get to see Mark V Chief in the show. Though that may be a good thing that it was spared from the show lol
Kai's mission was to destroy everyone and everything. Not just the ships. He had to show up.
We waited all this time and we get "space zombies" for the flood! No no no! The flood is a super aggressive and incredibly infectious organism, it takes seconds to infect, not minutes or hours. The plot holes and plot armour, 343 and chiefs, ridiculous little interaction, kwan being made out to possibly forerunner and that arbiter fight?! This show missed almost every opportunity to be good, he'll great even.
My favourite part of this episode was the beginning. I was very confused about what we were doing with these random scientists, and then it clicked in my head that we were about to finally see the flood. I would have enjoyed it more if there were actual flood infection forms, and if we got the halo flood ost in the background. But I understand that the flood can technically infect people just with spores. Although I think it would have been cooler if we had seen that first person that was infected turn into a carrier form, and then that would allow us to see infection forms.
Only 2 spartan-II fights, the spartan-III being marines in armor and nothing else, the space battles are nothing more than seconds of alright CGI and inside the helmet shots for most of it, chief being the most unlikable character in the show.
The writing is horrible and the reason people like the episode are because the moments look cool yet if you look at the story is horrible.
5.5 - 6/10 is generous I'd say 5 max. But my rating is a 4.5 due to lack of good story writing an overall insult to the fanbase. I would have maybe said 3/10 but because me and my friend found it funny to watch I added a 1. And because that last episode was good, added a 0.5, making it 4.5/10 overall for me.
I think people forget that 5/10 is average. This show definitely wasn’t average.

i really hope s3 comes back, the last season towards the end was great, sort of building up the character of master chief, and in this new season hes battle hardened, teams up with thel vadam.
When Chief punched the control systems Cortana seemed to have transferred over to his suit if that makes sense.

Having a “cure” for the flood would make no sense considering the forerunners had no choice but to kill everything to stop the flood despite being much more advanced than we are, this would make the whole point of the halos irrelevant would it not?
My thoughts exactly, not only the forerunners but ancient human ancestors who were also way more advanced couldn’t.
The only reason they act like zombies is because if the feral stage they dont have a proto grave mind so they act like zombies tell they get more biomass and alot of infected
If Kai used the spike it would have destroyed more than the Covenant Fleet, it would have potentially destroyed the entire system according to Ackerson's simulations.

Nah it's honestly not cannon, if the arbiter dies and MasterCheif has seen the flood before halo 1 then it's definitely not cannon, tbh it can't even be between halo 3-4 because Master Chief is stuck on that ship for 100 years and Wakes up in halo 4, it could be between 4-5 or maybe 5 and infinite but even then I don't know.
9:14 it is implied/ you can see him punch the Ship’s console and Blue light (Cortona) goes into his Suit’ system and you start to see the Blue visor like when Cortona controlled his suit to fight the Brutes in season 1 and I am guessing they were trying to make it seem like Cortona did some MoonKnight black out action scene to save Master Cheeks
the arbiter did kill vannak back in ep4, also you can see cortana being absorbed into chiefs suit just about when theyre about to crash.

I’m no massive halo fan but have always loved halo but the way the show works is like a book Ik they are way off from the games and books but you say that it’s drawn out and that’s because it’s like a book the way you see the thought process of the characters etc… hope this makes sense.

I dont really think kwan ha is part forerunner. But i feel like she might have a slight precurser dna. Like maybe the life bringers thought maybe to save life they have to appease or ensure that humanity could destroy the flood. So maybe chief has the DNA of the high ranking forerunner like the clone of the main enemy in halo 4 while maybe kwan has some untainted Precurser dna which explains why the flood stopped. It did say ancestor which means that the precurser past may remember who she is and wish to assimilate her but maybe is holding back because they know if they do all life will die.
I’m 100% cool with them doing the different timeline and the different story beats but the issue is that it doesn’t fucking feel like halo, the weapons the marines use are just modern day rifles which is infuriating in and of itself and the fact chief spent literally the ENTIRE season without even his armor on felt like the writers saying “hey dumpy knwo how the only people watching this show are fans who hate watch it? Well how about we hack a loogie in their eye and fart in their face at the same time” it was so disrespectful to say they “learned their lesson with season 1” and then doubled down on literally EVERYTHING nobody liked. I wanted to give Pablo Schrieber the benefit of the doubt but after this season I know damn well his ego as a producer and dogshit lead was like “I need my face shown the ENTIRE time and I also want this stoic character to be a moody 14 year old kid who thinks being mad and edgy all the time will get me all the girls” fuck this show, I hope all the writers and everyone involved lose their jobs over this shit, the universe doesn’t even feel like halo, it’s just a piece of shit sci-fi show with a halo skin over the top. Im never this passionate about these type of things but this show is so blatantly disrespectful time and time again to the source material. Imagine if Star Wars episode 8 was 16 episodes long. That’s how this piece of shit show feels.

Honestly, I am glad the flood is here. We never seen the flood in live action before. The only ones we've had seen them wearing small cut scenes of the game, which I am so happy either here and imagining Season 3 will make the flood a bigger threat. Have their combat forms ready? Maybe seeing some new forms honestly, though. What they should do is have them similar to. Do you ever see the movie? The thing the 2013 1, which it had a serious brutal. I am absolutely disgusted how many people are ignoring the entire show tiny decent moments. This show is a literal pile of crap, BAD television. People are focusing on 10 seconds of “cool shit” and ignoring everything else. Bunch of crayon eaters. This show needs to be canceled for the sake of the IP- this is damaging.

I think the show is very dependent on its writing, and season 2 was sort of pulled down by hundred things. They had to import most of the terrible characters and events from season 1 while having to adapt the show to fitting in like 50% or more of the major Halo lore from 2 games and 2-3 books. Overall I think they did a really good job with it. They fired all the writers from season 1, but unless they started from scratch we were never going to get a direct 1 to 1 on screen adaption. This episode kind of solidified that I'd be interested in watching a third season. I think introducing the Flood and the Halo ring 100% were just so that a 3rd season would get green lit. The Flood starting on Onyx was a weird choice, but I'll be really interested to see how it all plays out now. Since its not a 1 to 1 with the game at this point nobody really knows whats going to happen next and they did a great job with embracing the horror elements so its got people invested. Nobody is really talking about the dialogue in the beginning of episode 8 and the end between 343 Guilty Spark and Chief. It really hints at they might embrace this horror side with what's in the "dark depths" of the ring, "it's awake because you're here," "I'll be watching," and perhaps you're not the one that I need. During the conversation Cortana is gone too. Legendary Library run in the show might be a real thing in S3.
Kai sacrificing herself made me feel like Jorges sacrificing himself I know Spartans in the games Spartan |V armor can stand a nuke launch but masterchief did it in Halo 4 and a bit of it felt like Halo 4

The action scenes were good could be better, master chief finally in his armor the only ep I have seen him in his armor is beginning of ep 1 and ep 7 (38:50) and 8. Arbiter and Master Chief fight was cool but kinda hectic it felt like lag in the movement for some reason. I didn't like the monitors look if that is but never confirmed in the ending of the ep. I really liked Ackerson but I am thinking he will do a Keyes moment where he is infected and master has to kill him if they do a season 3. I didn't like how Kwan was able to get away from infected people as some spirit in the past saved her life or ancient or philosopy Bullshi%. I really hope they don't pull a zombie flood where they just infect and they don't change into the flood like the games as it feels like a standard zombie movie you would know from like the walking or dead island or something. I think thats it ... if you guys think this show should continue or not explain away as I'm gonna think this show is okay for now. I also am waitin on that noble six from halo follower and am hyped as I'm interested in it and I am down for my brother to watch it like a movie. I love your video and you've made me smile when days are depressed .. I hope you keep doing what you do either halo or not.

It's like I said if you have the ability to separate the show from the games you might enjoy this show. I don't think of this show as Halo. I think of it as something completely different with Halo aesthetics. If you can separate the two from each other you might enjoy the show. If you can't then you probably won't like it.
I find it weird the giant covenant assault carrier let Kai uppercut them with their own ships like I expected them to focus fire on her or use a glassing beam to destroy her but nope she destroyed it.
Chief was sitting and hearing people die on the radar was annoying. Halsey shouldn't have been infected I didn't even see it happen same with Soren wife, not only that but it's even more insane Halsey didn't warn people about the Flood and how the fuck is Miranda gonna find a cure at ground zero?? Eventually the Flood is gonna make a proto grave mind and have the combat forms unlock the door. Insane Chief let makee go into the forerunner building like he's willing to have her wipe out all life by giving her a head start

Damn y’all are a hard crowd to please. I’m just grateful they’re making new tv shows based on the games I enjoy playing, especially the new Fallout series coming out. Loved season 2. I don’t critic hard core like y’all professionals do on shows and movies bc I learned to not care about the uncontrollables. I am not a huge halo nerd but I enjoyed the show and I am grateful they are giving me something to watch on a Thursday night.

I don't have the source on hand, but I saw that Halo S2 was receiving more "viewing-minutes" than the Percy Jackson show did on Disney+. I think a season 3 is guaranteed, still despise how much his helmet (and suit) is off. Jimmy's finally on the Halo now, maybe the helmet stays on longer.
I think the Monitor reveal would have been much better had they did some voice-modulation. The normal sounding Monitor was kind of blah, maybe they write it off as someone else, no way that's Guilty Spark.
I concur with your rating; I too am moderately disappointed as a Halo fan, but kind of like getting luke-warm fries from McDonalds one day and going back another, I'm still interested in seeing where they go with SilverTimeline and still going to watch season 3 when that releases.

Lovely video watched the episode myself i agree with most of the points, real awesome episode over all in my opinion
Also it was the Arbiter that killed Vannak which is why i personally felt so much gravitas in that fight and why i felt Master Chief felt especially cold and angry towards the Arbiter in then end where he ended him.
