In economics the droid were winning because in one episode they said 10000 b1s were equal to same value as a single clone trooper and clones were on average killing 100 before dying
They were built for different roles: Sentry Droids are geared for, well, guarding things, and could be built at a premium since you don’t need a horde of them to storm things too. The Separatist droids need to be viable for all sorts of roles, and are either built cheap for max production, or are min-maxed for specific roles whilst still being affordable, while also having programming for mass coordination. All while needing to be able to harmonize their differences into a cohesive fighting force.
I also just noticed during a replay how the only time the DT’s are deployed in bulk are against us, a Jedi. Really shows the CIS’s superior droid tactics

2:15 the b2 getting kicked onto the ground by a larger foe, getting back up and then *"cracking" its knuckles* and having the dt immediately die directly in front of him had to be one of the most *b2 moments of all time*
TBH, this just goes to show why the B2's were called SUPER Battle Droids. Not only are they smarter, but are WAY tougher and pack WAY more firepower than the B1's, while still being mass produced. No wonders Clones and Jedi alike hated these. Also these are some nerfed ass Droidekas, in the movies, shows and other games, what makes them so terrifying is their absurd rate of fire and their capacity to sustain said fire. These Droidekas go on short bursts with LONG cool downs and long wind-up; I like the headbutt maneuver tho.
Don’t disrespect the B1’s. For there functions and quirks they always paid off. A large enough force of cheep and functional troops like them is strategically and tactically superior to a few over specialized units.
They only fell short when competing with demigod space wizards and an army of commando level soldiers who were trained to fight them specifically. And they still traded well with the latter.

I'm a bit disappointed in the BX and IG100 though, the BX, especially in their hybrid form don't seem to fight together at all, something wich they should be doing. The B2, droidekas, and the BX droids were really the exceptional droids that proved their effectiveness. I honestly expected the magma guards to perform better 🤔
It's probably cuz these ones either lost the memory of being trained by Grievous or Dooku. Or where never trained by them in the first place. Those could keep up with the likes of Jedi Knights in melee and some could even keep fighting while greatly damaged
I want this now. It would be like tabs sorta and you could choose from a list of on-hand models and characters. Then you give the steam workshop community access and you’ll have Star Wars, combine, Warhammer, halo and any other number of useable models to play with after some time.

The B2 and BX squads putting the Sentry droid in its place will never get old (Also love how they took turns attacking the sentry droid to kill it while also making sure they could survive its attacks. some pretty smart ai right there)

B1s are like Hercule Satan in Dragonball: they're only a joke within the context of going up against extremely overpowered opponents (jedi being superpowered space spellsword monks and clone troopers being genetically molded super soldiers). Against pretty much everything else, B1s were horrifically dangerous and effective to the point where the Republic NEEDED superpowered space spellsword monks and lab-grown super soldiers to fight them, since without those they'd have gotten stomped.
It really goes to show that one army built their droids to be an army, while the other made them seemingly exclusively to fight _Jedi specifically_. The ranged seppy droids did great against the DT unit, while the melee units were thrashed even when they had a numbers advantage.
Surprised the Magna Guards lost seeing as those things take on (or used to) Jedi and actually give them a fair enough bit of trouble. Commando Droid fights were cinematic and awesome.
It seems to be because the DT units are built from the ground up to fight melee units. Ranged enemies mulch them, even a squad of B1s, who were collectively a fraction of a single DT's credit cost, killed it easily, but up close? That's where DT units shine.
Some people don't take the B1s seriously but in military equipment cost is everything and although I don't know how much B1 and DT droids cost but I can imagine 10 B1s cost significantly less than a DT.
We don't have a credits cost for a DT yet. A single B1 should cost around 1,800 credits unarmed, B2 super battle droid cost around 3,000 credits, while the legendary Droideka cost upwards of 21,000 credits. The BX commando droid should be somewhere between the B2 and Droideka in cost. For comparison, growing a clone for 10 years could cost as high as 144,000 credits, to a low closer to 36,500 credits depending on who you ask. Estimated conversion rate would be about 1-1.5 credits to USD comparing food costs. A B1 in USD conversion would cost between $1200 to $1800.
Imagine if the AI were actually made to perform like real AI, and not just a hit - jump around - block - do animation. We would have had so many fuckin cool battles.

The b1's have too much individual variation in their code, the b2's have too little. Ideally, a team of superstrength-boosted, hyper-agile, working-as-if-one-mind droids with the joint thinking capacity of a command droid or higher is the best design IMO. Like the BX, but with a hive mind that's constantly updating like a command droid, generating more and more efficient tactics of dealing with different enemies, weapon availabilities, terrain types, etc.

The problem with stuff like this is that the AI isn’t designed for multi-target engagements. The DT just keeps agro-ing to the closest target or the last one to deal significant damage.
I like how even though they are old and obsolete the separatist battle droids who are made for war can take on and beat a security droid who is like riot police.
It appears magna guards were built specifically to fight and overwhelm smaller targets in a 1 on 1 duel aka Jedi and clones but when put against a less fleshy much larger opponent with a modded blaster and staff they suffer heavy damage
How I love the separatists! If it wasn't for Palpatine, they wouldn't have given the republic a chance. To see how the B1 squad beat this Republican droid was great. But most likely their cost is two or even three times less than the cost of one such droid. This shows why they were so strong. In movies, they like to laugh at them, but just imagine the rows of B1 marching at you endlessly stretching into the distance in support with B2 and BX. And they all think and act synchronously and harmoniously. Let them be very inaccurate in shooting, but when there are hundreds or even thousands of them, then accuracy does not matter. It's literally a wall of fire rushing at you. In one of the series, we were shown that they can easily crush even a Jedi with a number when he does not have a story armor. And these are not all their advantages. They don't eat, they don't sleep, they don't rebel, they always follow orders, you can't bribe or seduce them, they are literally steel wars! And even more so, if, for example, a lot of droids were destroyed in a big battle, then you can collect what's left of them, and at least a third of them will be repaired. And now remember the clone army. Yes, the clone is better in everything than the B1 droid, yes, he is quite capable, with a certain skill and luck, to win one-on-one B2 and even in some situations to compete with BX. But there were about 10-20 droids per clone at the beginning of the war (I don't remember the exact number). But remember also that clones need to be fed, they need oxygen, they need to rest and sleep, they need a long time for training and expensive weapons and equipment. And most importantly, they can be injured and die. And if the clone dies, then it will die. And separatist droids are just the same well repairable. It seems to me that if the separatists had moved in time at the peak of their power and started fighting with the empire (and Palpatine would not have put sticks in their wheels) then they would at least cause huge problems to the empire if they did not defeat it.
Its not surprising that the Magnaguards lost, yes they are elite, but they are just lesser to the DT. The DT was almost always horribly outnumbered and died to a thousand cuts, but in the Magnaguard battles he had a semi fair fight, he was just an improvement to them.
OK no one is going to mention how at 6:27 the BX commando parkoured away from all those shots. Seriously insane and I feel, lore accurate depiction of a droid Commando.

Both sides were honestly impressive. The CIS won most unsurprisingly but the DT almost always put up a heck of a fight.

Its not surprising that the Magnaguards lost, yes they are elite, but they are just lesser to the DT. The DT was almost always horribly outnumbered and died to a thousand cuts, but in the Magnaguard battles he had a semi fair fight, he was just an improvement to them.
OK no one is going to mention how at 6:27 the BX commando parkoured away from all those shots. Seriously insane and I feel, lore accurate depiction of a droid Commando.

Imperial droids are cool, but Separatist droids are on another level... More functional, better constructed, numerous, tactics.
The best so far is Magna Guard, a terror of the Clone Wars, they're underrated, but only Jedis could take them down.
