    greetings from Kuala Lumpur! we've been following you for quite a while now. we were at first fascinated with the dramatic style and content of Bald & Bankrupt and Harald Baldr but realised that you are the true traveller. consistent and down-to earth, your content speaks to the heart. keep it up Gabriel and hit us up if you're ever in Malaysia.

      Pejë / Peja: has an older origin in Albanian language. Possibly as the crystal clear water streams were ideal for drinking. Thus the Albanian word: Pi / Pij, meaning "to drink" or "drink". This makes more sense now, doesnt it?

    Bro thanks for the awesome videos uploaded for Kosovo and Albania..! I've recently been through them all and I got one thing that I just wanna say. In all of your videos you've never mentioned anything about Dardania or The ILLYRIANS who were the natives not only in Albania and Kosovo rather than the greater chunks of The Balkan region... In fact, they (the ILLYRIANS during the Greco-Roman era) lived before BC times in this region and the Serbians who are south slavs came in the 7th AD and became Christians just like their north slavs.. They imposed their Orthodox Christian version on them!
    The Muslim Turks, of course, are the latest to conquered the Albanian people.
    Last but not least , the Islam in Kosovo and Albania is so liberal and most of them are non-denominational, though the Bektashi Alevi (Sufi mystical Islam) have influenced their life, culture and customs to the level that you can call these Albanians Bektashi Sufi (Shia Twelvers and Sunni Sufi.. It's complicated)! Man, you missed visiting their Amazing Tekkes or Sufi Masjids in Kosovo and The headquarters of the Bektashis in albania!!!

    • @komnina99
      @komnina99 8 месяцев назад

      The Illyrians were conquered in the 3rd century BC and Romanized in the 3rd century AD at the latest. After that they disappeared

    Patriarkana e Pejës is albanian historical orthodox church and Kosovo is not 92% muslims . Albanians doesn't believe in religions. Serbs turks and others came here divided our faith but a true Albanian knows that albanism is way more important than religion

    First of all, the Monastery is not a Serbian monastery, but it is an Orthodox monastery. Here and beyond Peja and before the Ottoman occupation, most Albanians and Serb minorities belonged to the Orthodox faith. So, the monastery rightfully belongs to the Albanians…

    Many of these churches were build upon already existing byzantinian churches
    Albanians lived there also but weren’t granted the privilege to form their own orthodox church and as such were dependent on the patriarchate of constantinople which allowed rites to be only held in greek
    This also explains why many albanians turned muslim since that way they could practice their religion in their native tongue and preserve their heritage, weren’t dependent on servian or greek patriarchates and could climb the social ladders at that time

    • @komnina99
      @komnina99 8 месяцев назад

      who is to blame for not being able to fight for privileges and the state throughout history.
      The Serbs managed to create their own state in Kosovo while you did not, and that's the end of any discussion.
      You don't have historical monuments in Kosovo, and you are starting to say that they are all Albanian monasteries, which is the height of absurdity, because you destroyed and burned those same monasteries and churches in 1999 and 2004.

      @@komnina99 serbs came as pagan migrants into the balkans where christian albanians in the then Byzantine empire had been already living for millennia.
      Serbs after getting chistianized usurped the existing churches and created the artificial servian orthodox church.
      You do realize that you basically just agree with the statehood of Kosovo, because your argument tones down to if you have the power to form a state than your legitimate.

      @@soul8938 my friend, how little you know.
      One of the basic pillars of the state in the Middle Ages was the church.
      Serbs created their church in 1219.
      Albanians never created their own church
      Just enough

    • @komnina99
      @komnina99 8 месяцев назад

      there are no artificial Orthodox churches in the Middle Ages.
      The Serbian archbishopric received independence from the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Byzantine emperor.
      All of today's churches in Kosovo were either newly built by the Serbs or rebuilt by the Serbs in the Middle Ages. Since Byzantium and its successors no longer exist, it is quite logical to whom that land belongs.
      Albanians have never expressed interest in their own church or any special form of state.
      You did not exist politically until 1912 and that is your main problem
      Come on, explain to me how to give a state to someone who never even wanted it until the 20th century.
      Even if I were the greatest benefactor, I couldn't do it because you simply don't have the foundation

      @@komnina99 how little you know....the albanians were part of the Roman Empire when Christianity first entered Europe even before the split western and eastern Christianity...
      Albanians have been there for so long that there were no other christian churches...
      This trend started with slavic immigrants and invaders very evident to see on how many "orthodox churches" there are so many in fact that they made it an "exclusive club" now where the already existing "patriarchs" decide if a "new" church can be established...only under their control of course otherwise its a "rogue" church...
      Quiet evident on why the greek and slavonic "churches" so desperately tried to sabotage any creation of an orthodox albanian church.

    The Peja Monastery or Manastiri Pejes was originally Albanian. The Serbians hijacked it in the 1900s after many Albanians adopted Islam to differentiate themselves from Serbian oppressors. Serbians use it today as a taken for their false claim of their Kosova origin. Kosova is Albanian. Always has been. Always will be. 🇦🇱🇽🇰🇦🇱🇽🇰🇦🇱
