  • This is part one of the chicken coop I am building. The only tools I used to build it was a jigsaw and a plug in drill. I didn't video the whole process. I will however bring you guys along for other improvements or anything else I think of for it in the future.
I hope you enjoy! If you have any questions leave them in the comments!

I am 73 yr old lady using power tools for the first time the last few months. I want to build a chicken house and your video is very good at showing me what to do. Now I need to figure out the dimensions for my chicken house and buy the materials. My husband says I need to get some plans first, but I would like to build from my own design and plans.

I'm 50 and just bought my first skill saw and cordless drill! I'm so excited! You go girl! I drew my design while looking at the space, then added the measurements, then I did a plan on SketchUp (it's not user friendly at all). I made a document with the measurements of each piece, then subtracted that from the 4x8 boards so see if I could use the off cuts. Going to go back and measure one more time before ordering! Want to give my girls a nice house for winter.

Also, if you could find your way around a dress pattern, blueprints are way simplier.

I enjoyed your video. I'm a retired construction contractor. You did an excellent job. I'm in a wheelchair now but I've been interested in raising chickens. You gave me a couple of ideas. Don't be timid or afraid to continue. Research and plan each project. You will gain wisdom as you go. There are many helpful videos on the internet. Blessings and remember to research...Luke 14:31 KJV - Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

You missed the hardest part the roof trusses.

dave robinson the roof trusses were laid across the tops of the walls and toenailed in. I did the roof trusses on a 2’ center and used thicker plywood to screw tin into. Hope this helps!
