@篠崎あゆみ I agree, but it goes deeper than just Rockstar trying to be 'edgy'. They seem to have a weird fascination with recreating the more boring, mundane aspects of life in their respective cities (golfing, anyone?) to the detriment of story and characters. Yakuza pours much more effort into story, characters, and what they've got left over they use to create some awesome, if not tonally consistent minigames, like pocket cart and karaoke, or disco. Two takeaways I've had from playing both GTA and Yakuza games, the former has boring minigames, the latter has entertaining ones (mostly), and that while Yakuza has a much more limited world (and mechanics), they pack so much more heart, soul and hilarity into a few blocks than Rockstar does into 30 acres of meticulously rendered landscape.

One thing I dislike about GTA games is the lack of post-game content. There are plenty of actually entertaining side quests, fun minigames and above all, the main gameplay of beating the shit out of people doesn't go away once you finish the story because random thugs will attack you on the streets, so you can still beat people up. I also prefer the more rounded characters of Yakuza rather than the caricatures we get in GTA. Michael's son for example, is pretty flat as a character because he's a caricature. Sure I will laugh a bit at him but after that he just becomes eye-rolling. I get it that it's supposed to be a satire of todays society but still, it's annoyingly pretentious and most of all, boring.
