Thanks for this. I just found a broken V7 at a thrift shop and the issue was a seized motor. Taking it out and turning the spindle by hand freed it up. It didn’t even have a speck of dust inside, unlike my brother’s V8 that I took apart alongside it. I assume the previous owners had tried replacing the motor/housing assembly and it was seized from the factory so they gave up and donated it to the thrift store. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen that with an electric motor.
I had all three blue battery lights come on solid when switch was pressed. Motor went bad on mine, but the video was helpful in getting the motor out to diagnose. Water had been sucked in, but not sure why the motor froze. I was able to move it and after that it would make a noise as it tried to spin it. I assume the board is actually still good, but these are basically modular, so you replace the whole assembly, including handle. For as much as we paid, this is disappointing as it wasn't that much water.
I noticed mine was loose so I put it in the rubber slow. then i saw this video that he put it in there so thought it was a temp sensor. Only realise after when speed switch didnt work it was for the magnetic switch.
I have three V8 Animals and I have a stainless steel, heat-treated and hardened, "Spudger" tool. In fact, there isn't a tool that I don't have for this or any job, large or small. However, I have two V8's and one has a bad motor while the other has a broken trigger. So I first tried to remove the bad trigger from one and found that I was wasting too much time struggling to find a way to get it out after I removed all the screws. Then I decided I would simply switch the good motor from the one with the broken trigger, into the one with te good trigger, but bad motor. I don't know if Dyson changed the way that rear motor cover is retained, but I'm here to tell you that the plastic motor cover on both of these units are definitely not 'popping off' with the little bit of prying like that cover in your demonstration. I'm afraid that if I apply any more pressure trying to pry the cover off these housings, I'm going to break it. It seems to me that these covers need to be twisted off but with a special tool that inserts into the top and bottom slots in the cover and then the entire tool would turn CCW to unlock and remove it. Of course that's a guess on my part. I can't find any information on how to replace the broken trigger of a V8, (nothing online that's written or as a video). I guess I need to decide which one of the two units I'll pick and break the cover, so I can then assess how to remove the cover form the other properly. Anyway, my point is that the cover isn't coming off with the same ease as you've demonstrated and therefore, Dyson must have made some modifications since your version. That said, it doesn't diminish the helpfulness of your video and I certainly gave it a thumbs up! Thanks, Rich
I wish i knew simple test..redlight with battery in place.. 3 blue lights with battery removed means motor no good battery good would have saved me cost of new battery
Needed the music to keep me focused and calm while I rewinded 20 times. Factory would never offer this help, so thank you so much.
Excellent video!
Only had to rewind 10 times…lol
Music sucks but I didn’t come here for the music.
Cheers 🇨🇦

This will be a great help, thank you. 👍
At 2:27 you just shoved the magnetic reed switch down in the motor. It's supposed to fit in a hole in the rubber skirt for the speed switch to work.
Yeah I noticed that....
я специально искал видео где видно куда ставить этот магнитный датчик и в итоге нашел видео где его поставили неправильно :)

Try shove screwdriver into the rubbery black padding, after bit of wiggle + loosen up, did came out a bit for next step
@@丁釘 Thanks. Shortly after I wrote that comment, I did manage to open it up with some wiggling and additional prying.
What are the smal red and white cables for?
They power connected accessories through the contacts at the attachment port.
I wish i knew simple test..redlight with battery in place.. 3 blue lights with battery removed means motor no good battery good would have saved me cost of new battery
Hello, I bought such a Dyson V8 from ebay, but I don't have that sensor with blue wire, what is that, can you help?
The blue cable is for Adjusting mode,if don't have this ,unable to adjust mode, than you.
It’s a magnetic reed switch for the Extended Run/Max switch on top.
Hello, where I can by the motor?
Hello, you can order the V8 motor from this listing: www.ebay.com/itm/264874645093
