Just finished disassembling and cleaning my V8. I only had one little issue which I think I resolved, however my Dyson now has a slight whistle ;) which not only doesn't bother me but brings a smile to my face. I'm pretty proud of myself for taking the whole thing apart and putting it back together again. Thank you for your excellent tutorial!
I recently picked one up for $30 at an estate sale. Cleaned it up following this video and went back together without a hitch. Thank you for putting this together.
I spent all day looking for a video as good as this ..Found this at midnight..But will follow this video tomorrow to service my V8 ..thanks for a great video...👍
I found a working V7 out side my building, broken bin connection , £28 replacement bin housing from amazon and deep clean later, new Dyson 🙂thanks for the demo👍
Thanks! I had a problem reaching the 4 T8s. In the cyclone head. The bit was too short and the handle too wide. Then I saw you put the screws into the lid of the same I fix it kit I have. So I went back and noticed you used a hex bit as an extender! Brilliant video!
Holy hell thanks for this video! I found a dyson v7 allergy in a dumpster and decided to clean it up. Amazing video! I was afraid I'd have to watch 10 minutes of 50 videos before I found one like yours. And yours was my first one watched. You answered every question (and silently. Impressive!), didn't sit and explain what a vacuum is, had clear video shots, and I appreciated the clean fingernails.
"Staying in one piece" is not the problem, but if cheap plastics are used there is a risk of deformation. Anyway I tested it yesterday and ALL parts are perfectly fine and therefore dishwasher safe @ 65°C. Of course the two red & black gaskets made out of foam should be cleaned manually. There is just one rubber seal you missed to remove and show in your video. It is mounted on the plastic part opposite to the round metal filter. I also removed the red rubber seal on the dust container by removing two T10 Torx screws. There was alot of gunk around that seal. The black rubber seal on the container cover can also be removed. All these rubber seals should be cleaned with special rubber care spray that keeps the rubber soft and elastic. In the end I want to thank you for your helpful video.
Спасибо вам за информацию! А спрей для резины в каких магазинах продается, а то на улице мороз, чтобы разъезжать по всем. А пылесос чистить приспичило сейчас😳
@@MichaelM-tt5wd yes. I seem to remember that a lot of the plastic components do still have the electrical terminals in them so that the brush gets power.
Thanks for an informative video! I removed canister and cyclone (just whatever I could detach without using a screwdriver) and now that I put it back together, I'm having issues when pulling the red tap to empty canister. Seems like it takes great effort to release the clips on that sliding section you show at 16:09 mark. The piece with "2 small triangles" and spring are placed as shown on your video.) Any suggestions on how to make it open smoothly again are greatly appreciated.
I don't think every v8 has a removable post filter, but I'm not sure. The biggest difference between the v7 and v8 is the battery. The v8 uses different cells. 20700 instead of 18650.
Excellent - a fine example of how such videos should be done. A splendid resource for people like me who can’t trust anything until they’ve taken it to bits . . . 😂
I Love the video. I did everything about cleaning before assembling everything together I had to pause the project a few weeks ago and when I was putting everything together I noticed someone put the screws on the trash... is there any chance you can tell me which screws I need to buy?
Love your tutorial. My husband didn't know how to open the dustbin lid and forced everything apart. He's damaged the spring for that mechanism that the motor slides down on and torn a chunk of the molding in the center bit like a gappy tooth. It's that flat curved rectangular bit that the motor slides in front of (9:30). Sheesh. This is a guy who snaps off window cranks in cars and wonders why. A bit of a gorilla. Do you know if they make replacement parts like the metal spring? Thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. I love Dyson in that it's easy to take apart and replace the parts instead of throwing away the whole machine. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Fabulous video! The only one I've found for the model and type Dyson vac that I have. The rest of the videos I've seen are silly compared to yours. I haven't needed to do a complete break down - deep cleaning as of yet but if I ever do I'll be back to watch this video and any others you have. Very fine video indeed. Thank you!
Really lovely video! It would be helpful if you could list the exact tool sizes needed in the description as I had the same issue as another viewer where I didn’t realize I needed smaller than I had! I appreciate the link for a toolkit though, very helpful. Thank you!
Only video I can find which explains how to remove the rear casing to clean motor filter. Sadly hasnt fixed my issue of not working in max mode. But great video anyway.
Like so many Dysons, over complex engineering. The most convoluted assembly is masquerading as good design. Thanks for this video you cracked the puzzle.
I'm having one problem even though the video is excellent and I'm using the same toolkit. I can't get the screwdriver in far enough to tighten the long T8 screws. The extender doesn't fit in at all. I have the V7. Any tips?
I had the same problem. I had used a small socket from the set where your bit fits. And stuck it in with a piece of glove so the bit wouldn't fall out. Not the prettiest way. But it works
Thank you sooo much for the in-depth video. I swear my Dyson vacuum will last years longer due to cleaning all the parts of the vacuum. Thank you - thank you!
Make sure you have the THINNEST TORX you can get, ill have to go back next week and tighten the 4 T8s in the interior housing since i couldnt get the clearance
Хорошая работа,но я не рекомендую пользоваться щеткой при мытье внутреннего пластика, щетка оставляет микро царапины, в дальнейшем чистить надо будет чаще,т.к. частицам пыли легче зацепиться за шероховатость.
Can the bin be taken apart? I removed one screw inside the gray tube thing and one inside the red part of the bin but there is a wire going inside there and I am afraid to pull on the parts.
@@gallahant I don't know. I did try but didn't dare go any further. I don't think you can't get it apart without damaging the bins connector. I think first the commector has to be taken out to get to the screw behind it. But it probably breaks off trying to remove it.
@@SpareTimeWorkshop I thought the same. Thanks for the reply! I wanted to clean it better but it doesn't worth the risk breaking it. BTW, mine is a V8 absolute but does not have that spongy post filter, only the blue part with the hepa filter.
Having a terrible time getting the cyclone to come off. Seems the two red rods that go into the channel are stuck and so hard to get in and out. Also when trying to pull up on the little red handle to discard contents, it is so hard to pull up and down. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
would there be risk in just dunking the entire cyclone assembly in hot water for a couple of hours with dish soap and then letting dry for 24-48 hours?
Excellent video - except I'd add a bit about really cleaning the flap valve. This is a mojor area of blockage for me - and it's really difficult to clean. Well done.
Thank you. Cleaning that valve is indeed a hassle. I don't have a handy way to do it either. I've also been fiddling with it for a while with cotton swabs and wipes. Many things I have to shorten because otherwise it becomes a very long video.
I found it difficult to clean the metal strainer. It catches the brush bristles and cloth when I tried to clean it. Anyone else facing the same problem? Or am I doing the cleaning incorrectly?
The way that you just showed everyone how to do the job without a single word of unnecessary waffle... Everybody here salutes you
Excellent. No 60 minutes of talking nonsense just getting down to it. Love it. Thank you. Saved to my bookmarks for easy reference.
