The Casbah Club was a highlight - we met Roag, Pete Best's brother, who can spin a great yarn & is a fantastic tour guide. He even showed me the boomerang McCartney was waving around at the Melbourne town hall when they were touring in '64. I first heard the Beatles as an eight or nine year old, & now at 51 I still thrill to their songs. Got myself a 360/12 string George Harrison Rickenbacker, now a prized possession, & man does it jangle like no other guitar. Loved Liverpool, love the Beatles!
I come from Bendigo, in high school and I remember getting up very early on a cold winter's morning to listen to the radio coverage of their plane landing in our country. It was very early, still dark and very cold. I was so excited to hear the announcer describe the scene. To have seen them with my own eyes was my heart's desire but it wasn't to be. Couldn't afford it. But remember them playing "All my lovin'" that morning. Magic.
My wife, daughter and I went on the Magical Mystery Tour bus in Liverpool in August 2016. This was the highlight of our trip to England. It was surreal, an out-of-body experience. eliodue Cool... when I there John's house was still privately owned. They must have made the gate change about the same time his house was donated to the National Trust and I’m assuming the original gate is on display somewhere.
John wouldn't have gotten into the art college if it hadn't have been for his former headmaster Mr. Pobjoy who wrote a letter of introduction which they took in high regard and let him in..as he didn't have the grades. Paul and George went to the Art School around the corner. Mr.Pobjoy said he saw something in John that made him write the letter.

Ringo's birthplace should be looked after. It deserves better than to be boarded up. Once these places are gone they are gone for ever.
