I haven't done the research to dig into the details of this case and learn just how serious that "punch" was, but I'm certain the deputy was wearing a bullet proof vest and that the punch was inconsequential, especially given that it was thrown by a female. Your head would spin if you knew how many people punch law enforcement officers in the chest, are charged with assault, and later get those charges dropped. It sure is. We hear so much about cops that keep getting rehired in new departments after having problem after problem with police brutality, lying on police reports, and all kinds of crazy stuff. Yeah, let's talk about facts. How about the fact that there are nearly no known facts about this 1995 incident? For all we know the arresting officer knew her and didn't like her, made it all up, and it took some time to discover that. It could be that she was reinstated because she didn't do it and was able to prove it on appeal. What a concept! People aren't guilty just because they're accused. I care more that her record is clean in the last 27 years, which actually lends credence to her innocence. With all the cops that keep repeatedly getting in trouble with lying on reports, lying in court, and police brutality, I don't give two shits about an incident in 1995 that may or may not have happened. Being reinstated after being fired is kind of a big deal, she must've had something good in her favor.

I don’t agree with how this police Chief handled herself in the golf kart incident but this isn’t journalism. It’s just a warrantless hit job. We’re talking 27 years ago…shame.
People should know her past as it relates to law enforcement interactions, and it looks like she still thinks she's above the law. Any local news would have reported this from any city, there's nothing out of the ordinary about WFLA reporting this (I'm far from this area, and I see it as a pretty basic news item)
