      @@abeinLA323 why not send some demo units to channels involved in broadcasting like Doug Johnson or Here 2 Record or Streaming Media, instead of random content-churning "influencers"? I stumbled on this trying to find reviews of the P20HD and curiosity struck to see what was so insane and expert level about a prosumer switcher... a lot of people are trying to find instant replay solutions these days and everyone's dropping big bucks on vMix builds or 3Plays because your video products are so far off the radar no one even knows your rig exists.

    I work as the technical director for a production company. The number of features this switcher provides in such a small and relatively inexpensive package is astounding, I wish all input had full scalers but it is amazing to see the industry moving in the right direction. Between what Roland is doing here and black magic with the atem mini series, I'm very glad to finally have mobile options that can send multiple different outputs without having to struggle with A/B mixing.
    PS. Keep killing it! You and John both make amazing videos.

But by being deeply involved in Church Activities and also by being a worship leader I can see the actual potential of this device... It is literally a Godsend... We can use a single device for the lyrics prompter with musician cues on stage... A separate lyrics display for live audience and another separate stream online... Thats insane....

    Worked FOH for years but got out of it a few years ago. This is making me miss it. Never got to go full digital on video switchers because HDMI was no good for long cable runs and SDI was only available on cameras out of our price range. Wow that's a nice switcher. As someone who works in TV and broadcast normally the switcher consists of a huge control surface connected to a huge server that does all of the processing but I love how compact the Roland is. And in the professional world for what you get the price isn't a big deal.

      some ideas: you can search for a bigger ATEM with XLR and digital audio input... or buy something like the "BMD Mini Converter Audio to SDI" and merge a video camera with a better audio signal... or use the audio input of one of the cameras in your setup.

    Awesome to see a video covering video switchers! I think you would have lots of fun testing a Tricaster (Mini 4K or TC1) using NDI and Dante. I've always found how Roland operates to be kind of clunky, and only having 4 scalers is a bit of a downside. There seems to be a place for that Roland, but I imagine with all the other options it's a very niche market.

    • @supatrakz
      @supatrakz 2 года назад

      Tricasters price point is a lot different to this bud! you gotta compare apples with apples!

    • @thomaskerrigan3244
      @thomaskerrigan3244 2 года назад

      Once you add a graphics system, VTR's, and external encoder(s) to make some of these devices fully functional, you get fairly close to the price of the Tricaster mini line. And when you're talking about high end prosumer low end professional switchers Tricaster always sits in that bracket.

(We're actually in the market for one of those at my college funny enough! We currently have a full ATEM 4K rack mount switcher, but we're looking for a smaller one for more basic events where the larger switcher/4K quality isn't needed.)
