    Thank you Jamal for taking us along again. Thank you for the many hours of joy you brought me with your channel. The red rock fever has bitten me 35 years ago. As I'm from germany there is always a two year intervall to come over and enjoy this beautiful land. I use your channel to ease the pain in between my day hike trips. You are so blessed to have access to this area and to be able to enjoy the silence and sounds of the canyons. Whenever you start a hike on your channel, I'm glad and I appreciate you share your memories with us. During the last lunar eclipse we were just a few miles apart. Would be so funny to cross your path one day. Keep up with your fantastic videos. For me it's like being there. It's funny. When you start posting me, my wife and my 23yo son always sit at the weekend breakfast table together and fear with you that you hopefully catch the right way up the obsticles :-)

    The whole series was stunning, as are all of yours, so thanks very much Jamal! I'm a Brit who loves southern Utah, and I have come over the pond to visit many times in my 61 years. Some by hiking (but not as long as you do) and some by Canyoneering, and some by viewing the overhead in my vintage aircraft. I was flying nearly over the same territory in May 2023 and in the Utah backcountry at Happy Canyon and nearby, saw the same flower bloom. I'll be back Sept 2024. Rob

    What a finale!! Those views headed up towards Canaan Peak in the afternoon were glorious. The mix of vegetation headed up the Grey Hills is so unique with the pines and desert backdrop. I know so many people who are unaware of how high in elevation the Colorado Plateau is in Utah, which gives it a unique beauty found rarely. Who would have thought snow?! Glad you finished the trip, and I hope the beer and burger were fantastic! Can't wait to see what you hiked this year. Cheers, and Safe Trails Jamal!

    What a wonderful adventure you took with this hike! I loved ALL of the videos! I too attempted to hike up to Powell Point using the Water Canyon Trail many years ago, but as soon as I got to the top of the plateau, I ran into 3 feet of snow on the trail. But a few years later I drove out to it in my AWD, fulfilling a longtime wish to get up there on my own (I'd taken a tour up to it from a tour guide in Escalante before). When I saw you arriving there on your video, I got a bit emotional; that is such a beautiful place to see!

    Great series! I was wondering about the bear... of course in the water areas. I saw the one image you showed of your food bag hung up, but not until you were in the mountain area. Do you have to protect it down in the desert too?

    • @Acrossutah
      @Acrossutah  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I didn't talk about it in the video, but along my original planned route I actually had another cache near Bryce Canyon which was IN a bear canister. The hope was to have it while hiking through the area where bears are most common. However -- the deviation changed that and thus I had to hang the food bag. Outside of bear country I actually sleep with my food bag. I've had many people criticize me for this tactic, but in all my years I've never had a critter try to get inside my tent with me in it to get to my food. Thanks again for watching and the comment! 🌞✌

    I've been out on Powell Point several times. A couple of those times were during a thunderstorm. That's not a good place to be when a thunderstorm rolls!

      Yeah -- I could imagine there would be quite a few lightening strikes out there. But... it would be a cool place to watch a storm roll through nearby. Cheers! 🌞✌

    Dang it...I couldn't find the survey marker at Powell Point when I was there, and now I know why! Being at ground level it's not difficult for it to become covered in a thin layer of dirt and gravel.

      Yeah -- as soon as I started reading your comment I was wondering if its was covered in snow or dust. The way it's positioned it really wouldn't take much for it to be obscured. Just a reason to go back! 🌞✌

      Thanks! Unfortunately I had to skip my spring hike due to a knee injury, BUT... hoping to be back out there this fall so as to not miss an entire year. Thanks for watching and the comments on the episodes. 🌞✌

    Really enjoy your Content. Wish I had the resources to do these long through hikes.
    Have you reached out to your failed gear manufacturers?

      Thanks! IMHO the biggest resource needed is TIME and in theory it's often possible to make that feasible with some planning and saving (it was hard to convince my old boss for the time off, but we finally came up with a plan.) And YES -- Platypus was fairly helpful and sent me a replacement bag (though it looks the same so I fear I'll have a problem again). Klymit on the other hand wanted me to ship back the air mattress for "evaluation" and said that a leak would likely be deemed "normal wear and tear" and thus not covered. 😒 I ended up not messing with it and just got a different pad. Thanks for watching and the comment. 🌞✌

    Is that a "Dirt Shirt" you are wearing? A guy in Moab made them. I have one but I never wear it. I keep it save. It's 'holy' 🙂

      Nope, it's actually a small brand which I think is out of business which I got long ago from Sports Chalet (also out of business!) I might have to look into the dirt shirt though. ✌
