Stairwell Storage Area Renovation | Start to Finish Remodel | All Parts from Gutting to Shelving!

  • In this video I compiled all parts of my basement stairwell storage area remodel. This was originally a 6 part series and I just wanted to have one video of the entire project available for you. My goal with this area was to have a nice bright, easy to access and organized space for storage. I decided to completely gut the area, replaced wiring and added insulation while I was at it. Now everything is brand new, inside and out. I hope you enjoy the video!

This video brought back *a lot* of memories. I learned most everything you talked about in 1 yr. remodeling our first home [every room], with *ZERO* experience and *ZERO* tools. But, I asked a lot of questions, learned as I went, and spent a bit of $$$ along the way. The plumbing I subbed out-there was too much involved i.e., in moving the bathroom from upstairs to downstairs in a house as old as yours [cast iron]. In the end we profited just over 35k after all was said which allowed us to buy the house we now own as of this week! That was 32 yrs ago. Keep doing these videos-I wish I had them back then. God bless.

I'm 66 Lived in my house many years. You just gave me so many ideas for my ledge down my basement stairs. Now to see if I can find anybody that will help me. Your detail and ideas I could watch for hours. I also appreciate your explanation in things as you do them. I watched your kitchen and now I have my family members watching because you gave me some ideas for my kitchen. Your wife is so blessed by your handy skills. 2 of my kids are married and my son is like you are with his home. My daughter-in-law is blessed. Thank you for taking the time and videoing and sharing what you do I know it makes your process longer, but please, know, it's very much appreciated. You're very inventive and creative. When you were talking about using primer, So many people don't think about that. We have a family friend. That's been a painter for years and he said even though paint has primer in it, painting with primer is such an advantage to your item or wall. It seals it plus if we think about it.Primer is cheaper and so by putting good primer down firit seals and text less coats of paint. When when we took wallpaper down, I couldn't figure out why the wall was soaking up the paint. When this front told me prime first and then use your paint primer. It worked so much better. Every question was that outlet always on that wall ? What a great spot for one.

These are must sees for anyone hiring out, just to have some sort of standard to request. Other thoughts? I wonder what sort of maintenance goes in behind the scenes all your tools are so nice and organized. Do you need to sharpen any? Another thought? What a gift to your future self/family members should they want to know what dear old dad did when he rehabbed the house. Love all the insightful tips as you go, while not exactly a how-to, it does give ideas of what to consider. I wonder if you've done a starter tool set for folks wanting to attempt any of these phases of rehab? Substantial investment you've obviously made, how did you do it? Anywho, thanks for providing me with some needed viewing time while starting my day!
