- Pretty easy to do, you may need to get a screwdriver and lightly pry it up from the bottom of the watch. Just go slow and itll work.
You can find the band on amazon.

Took me almost an hour to fiddle with the screws. I had two small flat screw drivers but the torque won't let me unscrew it. Luckily, one of my multitools has a small flat head and I used that as a leverage to remove both the shaft and the shorter screw. Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to document this repair. It was exactly what I needed to understand the double-headed screw and get my GW-500A off the shelf and back into use. Cheers!
no prob glad it helped man
An update from my first comment 18 hours ago. I initially commented prior to removing the screws because I knew you had the solution for removing them. When I started, I found that I could only get so far (not very far :) so I put some thin machine oil on top of the screw heads and wedged a pointy toothpick nest to the screw head to make a tiny opening for the oil to penetrate.
Then i waited until this morning and was able to remove them. What surprised me was the amount of dirt that had accumulated on the screws and the tiny threads.
Thanks again for the solution to what would have been a frustrating project for me.
Yea grime made of sweat, dirt and dead skin cells will do that. Glad you got it sorted. 👍👍
Thank you! My dog chewed up my watch band and with this video and the two flat heads I was able to replace the band quickly.
I am just now having to replace the band after having the watch for 14 years!
Thanks for the video, helped a lot.
Great tutorial, very detailed. I just ordered the band, I really wish they would just make it a kit and include the screws as well since the stock on them isn't always matching. You might have the band in stock but no screws. I personally believe it's a good idea, since it's cheap enough, to replace the screws anyway. My GW-500A has been with me for 7 years and 2 wars so it has served me well.
Yup they are damn good watches. Mines been through so much abuse I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
Yeah! ... Thanks! "Looks EZ! Especially with the right tools!... Good job!" ...
kick ass I've had my for about 8 years love it solar but my band broke and with your video watch fixed Than x Bro
Thanks from Argentina!
Thanks for this video, it helped me complete my strap installation.
Thanks! I had the right tools fortunately and it was a breeze switching bands for the first time in 9 years! Great watch!
Thank You for the video! Was having a hard time removing the screws.
I suspected this was how it was done, but my old watch screws were STUCK! I ended up cutting off the old band and used pliers to grip one end of the screw to improve leverage. Took way too long but I’m back!
Thanks for the very helpful video. I was ready to give up and then came across your video. Thanks again.
Great explanation. Thanks a lot! Recommendation for any future videos: shine an extra light in the area, this one is a little dark.
Awesome! I was trying to unscrew it by doing one side, and got nowhere.
Great watch, also.
Thanks for this video, it’s given me an idea what to do.
But Surely there’s gotta be a tool for this to make it easier…
My 12yr old GW3500B needs one strap replaced, I encountered this screw type & now looking for a tool to make it easy.
Excellent, thanks you’ve saved my GW - 2500B! My guide puppy chewed through the original strap!
No problem man!
Vc pode me ajudar tenho um Casio G-shock MTG 520 quero comparar a pulceira que quebrou e não sei onde comparar
..good to have a magnetic parts tray handy...
Thanks for helping here in Brazil 👍👍👍
Thanks for the help. I will be ordering a band for mine shortly!
What size slotted screwdriver for the screw ?
Very helpful!
Any idea on how to repaint the letters? My "mode" and "adjust" black lettering has came off. Or replace the bezel?
great video , really helped me change my strap
What kind of kit and where to get one so I can use a nato strap? The stock resin band is too hard for my liking.
I've been looking for one, too. Compared to every other G-Shock, it seems like the lugs on this one are reversed. I haven't been able to find anyone who makes an adapter for this special snowflake watch. Frustrating!!
This appears to be a problem.
Many people are looking for a nati option.
I'm on my 4th silicone band. The quality from crap CHINA is getting worse and worse.
There is has to be NATO adapter.
I just cant find it.
How to do it without tool?
dude thank u iv had mine since 06 just broke it now out for the fix
A bit of advice you can just use a small flathead and push the screw threw and the strap comes undone hope it helps instead of unscrewing it
👍
Thanks to both of you. I used a combination of pushing the screw part way through so I could get pliers on one end and then unscrew it. I was about to throw my new strap out because I just could not get the screws to loosen. Much appreciated.
Do you need to buy an adapter piece if you want to do a NATO strap?
Good video. I too, just received the new Casio G-Shock GW-500 band I ordered off Amazon last night. I removed two of the screws but had no idea of the entire process, so this helped out a LOT! Much appreciated. Also, only a total MORON would thumbs-down this video. Good job!
glad it helped you man, yea thats youtube for you, its ironic but people dont realize that thumbs down do actually help videos...
THANK YOU!!!!
Nice vid. Very helpful. Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks glad it helped
Great info man! I have a G Shock also, They're almost indestructible.
Alan Marshall yup ive been very satisfied with mine
i attempted to take off the screw, and in the process the screw part of the tiny bolt broke off, where can i get a replacement ???
I have this one and am about return the blue metal one with a negative face that sells for 216 on amazon , the all black one sells for 250 on amazon, but the best one is the one in this video, on black friday it was only 40 bucks on amazon. It is the best watch IMO, because of the looks alone. the red G fades to full silver. the screens do need to be cleaned alot, and mine used to fog up or condense in the cold , but not anymore, i think it reached some sort of equilibrium with the air, it was probably more of a humidity thing.
+Exoteric Reverse Ya this is a badass watch had it going on 4 years now, because of my job its worn in a very rough environment and has taken a ton of abuse. That said I have been totally satisfied with it, I would not hesitate to buy another when the time comes.
Thanks. You solved my problem.
Have you ever replaced the bezel surrounding the case?
That's a great watch they were 70€ in Argos a few years back, great bargain!
Yea it was a great watch but ended up getting destroyed in a motorcycle accident, ended up getting a different model from the same brand
Thank you sir, I needed this.
+Ty-Rico Lea glad it helped man
can this be changed to a metal band
Thanks for the help!
I have one question did you buy the tools at your local hardware store or did you have to buy them online?
Jesus Davila hardware store. They are just small screwdrivers
Gracias por la ayuda...yo tengo un G Shok igual
Thank you.
what are the specific names for those two tool kits
????
+KYRIES RIVERS You only really need the one with the black case, but any standard jewler screwdrivers will do. The number is 93916 and can be found at harbor freight
