Omg thank you!!! After replacing so much crap, i came across this video and was like wth ill give it a shot..... 5 mins 1 lose screw on the back side no more play!!!!!! Thank you so much!
I did this to my 09 Sierra. Screws would not stay tight. When wheel gets tilted up and down they will loosen back up. I put red locktite on my screws and they still backed out. You are correct on not over tightening the screws. The wheel will be way too tight. I don't know what proper torque should be on those. If didn't screw them down as tight as I could get them it would not take play the away. My next step i guess is to go to junkyard and find screws to replace mine with. The dealership can't get them. They want to sell the whole steering column for $800. The way to determine if it is your steering wheel and not front end related is to have a friend hold the lower steering shaft where it goes into the rack with vicegrips, then move the steering wheel left to right. If it moves at all then it is those screws. My dealership here is clueless about it and they are the best mechanics around that I know of. Nobody seems to know anything about it. This is the first video I've seen so far on it. Thanks so much for uploading it. It is very informative and accurate.

Is it just a Phillips head?

Was it just a Phillips head screw?
@@angelcorpse5504 its a torx bit. (Star bit) Not sure the exact size.
@@tomwoods1373 thank you. I believe its a t25

Worked great for me, thank you
What fender flares are those!?? They look great!
worked on my 08 escalade! thanks
Good video, I was looking for the video on the stereo did you ever make it, looks factory and flush love it.
Hey buddy I like that radio u have in there, what brand and model is,I would really appreciate it,Jeff
Got a 09 Yukon with play in the steering I’m definitely going to try this
Should work!
@@ConnorRydland what screw driver did you use
What double din is that, Also there’s a adjustment on the actual gearbox too that will help alot
Yep very true! And this is the Eonon ga9480a I believe. They have a newer version now
Yeah what radio is that?
How tight did you make it with obviously I don’t want to break the plastic underneath but did you feel like you could go more or was it pretty snug
Go until it’s snug, don’t torque it down. If you torque past that it will snap
What tune and delete do you have?
Mine was u-joint in steering column.
What is the proper torque size T 25 was too small and T 30 was too large
Try a T 27
@@1978JK I got them tightened and yes it worked great thanks for your video.
What head unit do you have on that?
Ramon Avendano Eonon GA9480A, the only head unit that looks factory and takes up the entire space. Great investment and it’s not crazy expensive!
How do you adjust the brightness i have the same radio
Did this fix seem to last?
Yes unless you actually have to replace steering parts
What’s the radio?
Eonon GA9480A, they have since updated it to the GA9480B. Plug and play unit, 10/10 would recommend especially for the price
So on this truck is it able to put a dual steering stabilizer i have a 2013 chevy 4x4
I was told only can change the rack an pinion and no option for dual steering stabilizer
Not for an '06 though?
It should work too, I have a 03 LB7 now and it has the same screws
These truck have a rack and pinion no idle arm or gear box
Trucks
they are not rack and pinion
2007-2013 Silverado 1500s use rack and pinion.
The 2500s have pitman arm/steering box.
