10/10! I almost missed the Ballad of the Goddess. I recognized it, but had to pause and hum more of it before my memory was fully jogged on what it was.
Hahaha, I try to give about the right amount of time, and also to play just a bit more on some of them, and then a final warning 321, THEN reveal. Hopefully it was a good format and I can do more like this in the future for Zelda or other games.
With the Link Cooking Humming one, I thought, "That's how he hummed in Breath of the Wild, but I don't recognize what it's originally from," so I'm going to count that as a win. Other than that, the only other issue I had was with Ballad of the Goddess. I knew what song it was, where/how it was used within Skyward Sword, and how it went, but couldn't remember the title. Also with Ballad of the Windfish, I paused and was going through a bunch of other songs from other games in my head trying to figure out what it was, because I knew I knew it. I was wracking my brain for songs from Twilight Princess, but then I thought, "The mysterious tone isn't right for Twilight Princess. It feels more like the GameBoy games," but then I was like, "But it's definitely not Minish Cap, and it's definitely not Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons." Then suddenly I remembered Link's Awakening existed and I was immediately like, "Oh, it's the Ballad of the Windfish, duh."

9/10. I didn't get the overworld theme from the very first Zelda. Though I find it funny that outside of the BotW references, Link's humming music only found from the beginning and end of the unified timeline and the downfall timeline. It’s a progressive permadeath challenge where you beat each subsequent room, take only what you find in the levels, and try to beat it. And Master Sword becomes OP if you do Beg Int and Expert. It was actually my single favorite part of BOTW believe it or not.
The 5th one is closer to the Kokiri Forest theme from OoT, but also very close to the Hyrule Field Theme from the same OoT
Wow I’ve never compared those… so the chord progression is the same I bVII, but notes are different. But also rhythm is the same! Very cool.
Bro the original og song from Z1 hits hard
N3 is actually Saria’s Song. I know both that and Zelda’s theme quite well.
I LOVE Zelda and chill, so good
9/10. I didn't get the overworld theme from the very first Zelda. Though I find it funny that outside of the BotW references, Link's humming music only found from the beginning and end of the unified timeline and the downfall timeline. There's nothing from the child or adult timelines to be heard when he's cooking. I think that was done on purpose and not just them forgetting the other two timelines after OoT
7/10 and I was super surprised that you didn’t recognize ballad of the wind fish. Also that zelda and chill song is one of my favorites just for the cooking sound lol
LOVE that Zelda and Chill song. And yeah never played it as a kid. I missed out 😬
@@ZeldaMusicTheory Man. I really recommend playing the switch remake, it's one of my favorite Zelda games! :)
Epona’s song is so pretty on piano
I could see Zelda's lullaby on the top of the list through the blur
I know, that’s the only one that “showed,” but I figured it wouldn’t be much of a surprise. It’s kinda supposed to draw you in, like “I think I can barely see them!” But not the other 9. 😅
All these songs really hit different
Kevin, there's a ton of musical references but I would love you to talk about the dream house theme on Tarrey Town!! please I love your content!
Dude that’s the one I’m filming TONIGHT! Expected arrival next weekend May 11th probably. We’ll see. I came across a BOTW reference to that same theme. Then I heard TOTK had it and it was a done deal.
Also give me a week or two then start telling me as many references as you have found. Take notes 😅 but spoiler warnings too on your comments.
@@ZeldaMusicTheory YES LETS GO! I tried to keep it as vague as possible!! I'm sorry! I'll keep notes and whenever you give the word i'll leave another comment ♡♡ I love your content, me and my friend always share your videos because we love Zelda Music so much!
Thanks so much! And also you weren’t in trouble on this comment, I’m just saying if you give me a bunch of spoiler-ish comments about references just add a spoiler warning. This one was fine. (Sorry for the miscommunication). Really appreciate it! Have you heard the BOTW reference to the house theme? Also bonus quiz- Wind Waker plays the house theme but has a 2nd theme in a house that’s quoting it too. Discovered that today. SO COOL.
@@ZeldaMusicTheory Oh that's a relief! thank you
I haven't found it!!! Can't wait for the next video, I am so curious which one is it now ><
Will you also explain the windwaker bonus? :O I knew about the house theme but not the nod
a few of them i couldnt name but *could* hum the continuation of
I’m so glad you covered this! Lots of fun❤
Thanks!
Thank you for the video!!! I love those little Easter eggs, I haven't played the old zeldas so I don't know those very well but it's awesome. Thanks 🖤
I usually skip the cooking scenes. One time I was late and thought I imagined Saria's song.
What’s really a cute coincidence is that the stables in botw and Totk theme uses eponas theme tune as reference in the themee
Yeah 100%, I covered the Stable theme reference in my first video every on pentatonics.
“I can’t say which character”
Proceeds to play a piece with an accordion lol
The champions ballad was actually the unfinished version he played at the four divine beast sights.
Can you elaborate? Maybe send some clips? I’m interested.
I got 1 but I recognized the last one!
Champion Ballad tripped me up because I never owned the DLC and Kass' theme didn't kick in my mind because... I surprisingly never found him. I looked for him but I dunno where he can be. 8/10 though
You definitely need to play Link's Awakening. The staff credits theme is phenomenal and a lot of the music in there is just great. i didn't play it as a child but I played the remake and I wish I had played it as a kid.
Ballad of the Goddess from Skyward Sword is such a good song
Bro I loved the ballad of the wind fish
I really thought the Ballad of the Wind Fish part was the Castle theme from BOTW. It's possible that's yet another allusion I missed!
9/10
Missed link humming while cooking from botw.
DAMN IT.
Just hearing the champions theme And kass’s theme made me tear up because of the memories of BOTW. 🥹
We’re doing Kass’s Theme VERY soon…
If I didn't get Link's Awakening's Ballad of the Wind Fish, I couldn't say it's my favourite of the 2D games.
The opening to Ocarina of time was remixed into the scenes with Mattison's hot air balloon ride.
Nice! I can hear it just barely. That triplet downward chromatic line definitely.
The windfish ballad? It made me think more of the song of storms.
Oh man you’d LOVE links awakening on the switch. Especially the woodwind soundtrack
Great game ! Thanks for refreshing my memory. I got 7/10. What made me wonder in the last song guess, was where is Kass ? My boy
Somehow i didn't ever notice this. I kinda knew he hummed, but whatever I must have heard sounded normal and i started skipping the cutscenes for cooking.
Such a great video. I got 7/10! The 3 I didn't were BotW's - perhaps they're just not wired into my brain through nostalgia yet.
So glad you covered this! Thought you might
7/10 I was thinking Pokémon exactly!!! I just gave up on five saying “all I hear is Pokémon” It was so funny that you mentioned it XD
Hahahaha that’s hilarious! And I didn’t know it was in the same key 🤣 Last minute I added in the original clip and to my surprise it sounds JUST like Hyrule Field theme. In fact even Wind Waker changing the wind is in the same key. Pretty cool.
9/10 I only missed the Ballad of the Champions.
hell yea! As soon as I heard the new humming I was waiting for you to make a vid on it lol
Hahaha, I wanted to make sure to do a good job with it. There were 3 videos out there all about 2 weeks ago, but most just play them all back to back. I wanted to present it in Game Challenge format.
@@ZeldaMusicTheory you did great! I loved the challenge format it was very fun!
Thanks! Probably doing more of these soon as a series. Stay tuned…
Yesssss! I love this so much!! ❤
Hahahaha it was fun right!?
I felt like Nr. 2 is Hyrule Field from TP, got more of an ominous feeling that the original :3
Also, 7/10, bamboozled by Hyrule Field OOT, Links cooking hum and Champions Ballad :3
Thanks for this challenge and also showing what themes his humming were ^__^ Though I heard Song of Storms as well when I were cooking, but mightve just been Sarias Song :3
