My grandmother lived in rural Missouri and a bull wandered onto her property. She went after it with a pitchfork to get it to leave. Well, it charged her and she barely made it into the house. She was probably around 85 years old when that happened. She wasn’t afraid of anything. But in reality, a pitchfork at a bull probably wasn’t one of her best moves. Ha.

Lester, when I was 16 yrs old and living on the farm. While on one of our horse riding we took once a week. I was riding my Welsh Pony Patches bareback like I always did. I’ve always loved ridding bareback. But my sister’s Quarter horse who was in front of me, decided to stop, back up and tried to kick my pony. Instead I was the one getting kicked very hard in the knee. I told my mom and sister to keep going, I’ll meet them back home. After taking care of Patches, all I could do was hop into the house. My knee was swelled up like a balloon! Mom and sister came back. Mom put ice on my knee. For a week I still couldn’t put weight on leg so mom took me to the doctor. Turns out I had a dent in my knee cap! All he did was wrap up my knee and I had to stay off my leg for couple more weeks and continue to ice. Today I get a lot of snap and crackles from it when I walk. Sometimes it will hurt, at times it feels like it’s on fire. I now suffer arthritis from that kick many years ago from a horse. So that’s my memory. We all pay the price from injuries we’ve gotten.

When I was about 9 years old, we were walking to our church for classes when a HUGE German shepherd broke his thick chain, dragging it behind him. It wrapped around my leg and I fell face forward to the sidewalk breaking my nose. Thank God I had my loose leaf binder that my forehead hit. If I didn't have that binder I would have had my nose smashed all over my face. That's how strong an impact it was.

I had 2 black labs, 4 yr old brothers. I was traveling in an 18 wheeler when at a truck stop I was walking the boys. 2 leashes in my left hand when they spot a puppy across the asphalt parking lot and took off at the same time. They pulled my arm out of place and I had terrible road rash. But I never let go, cause they were runners and we were states away from home. Ouch, this was over 10 years ago and I still have a hard time with my left arm. It's all good. Keep doing you buddy.

My sister was in the yard and saw what he did and she kicked his butt. I was like 7 and he was about 12, I was a little girl and he was a big boy. I still have scars on my remaining leg. I don’t have any experience with an animal chasing me. But my dad had an incident with a rooster when he was a child on the farm. The old rooster was constantly chasing him, which made him afraid of it and annoyed. One day as the rooster attacked him, he threw a corncob at it, and popped the rooster in the head. The rooster dropped to the ground. The little boy, my dad, thought he killed it, so he ran into the barn and hid for a long time. After a while he cautiously walked outside. The rooster was gone, it was across the yard with the hens. He was very relieved, he thought he was going to be in major trouble, but everything turned out alright. He refused to eat chicken ever since then, his entire life.

Mine isn’t a big deal, but when I was little my dad had a parakeet that had free rein of the house. When I went over, it would always dive bomb my head! Every single time, and only me!! This gave me a terrible fear of domestic birds, not outside birds as they didn’t come close enough. Years later, I got over it, we ended up raising some parakeets and even had a few cockatiels.😊Ringo’s, besides Ima Jean, is THE ICON of Ima Survivor Sanctuary.❤

I wasn’t afraid of dogs after that but I was leery of any dog getting behind me. Then my other brother had 4 horses crowd around me when he doing some work on their feet and he quietly said to get myself out of there because it could become a dangerous situation, just don’t move fast…🤷‍♀️❤️ I was an adult in both situations. My parents used to take me to the pony riding rings that were around the area and let me ride every once in a while. I remember being attacked by a rooster one day. Myself, you did go into a small corral if the bulls were in there. They were mean ! Saw them fight a smaller bull and it was scary. I am always having encounters with poisonous snakes. I do not like snakes at all. I believe that I can outrun any olympic runner if a snake is behind me.
I've been chased by cottonmouths in a creek in Alabama. They are very territorial.
I almost used a copperhead as a foothold while climbing rocks in Kentucky. I thought it was a branch.
I had an encounter with the most poisonous rattlesnake there is while gathering firewood while camping in Colorado. The Green Mojave Rattlesnake. Both neurotoxin and hemotoxin. I moved camp.
I've had snakes slither out of trees into the boat while fishing in Tennessee. I've picked up a big rock and found a lot of baby rattlesnakes that I thought were worms I could use for fishing. That happened in my back yard in Alabama. I found out they weren't worms.
While living in Alabama I asked my husband if I could go frog gigging with him and his buddies. They took me to the most snake infested swampy creek they could find. Snakes everywhere. Snakes were coiled up and sitting on top of the water. I saw and smelled the biggest, worst smelling snake I'd ever seen. I believe that was my husbands goal so I wouldn't ask to go again. It worked.
I have so many snake stories.

I was in my late teens and early 20's and no matter where he was he would come after me when I left the house or tried getting out of the car. He would even chase my car out the driveway snapping at my tires. He left everyone else alone. It was only me he hated. Dad even tried to chase him off with a silage shovel almost killing him and he did not stop. To this day no one knows why. 😂

I was leash walking my dog one night down our paved dead end road. He decided to take off and pulled me face down into the pavement. My face had abrasions from my forehead to my chin. I had to go to the ER and get stitches between my eyes 😅 that was the worst time but I’ve been pulled down a few times.

Showing steers at county fair and trying to get them tamed enough to lead, don’t know how many times they pushed, ran or knocked me down. Riding horses and got bucked off, yeah been there…lol. Wouldn’t trade it for nothing!

Il had a turkey that tried to bite me every time I unlocked the gate. I took my revolver out to take care of a pest in the barn. After the turkey bit me that day I told the turkey it was next after I finished the job I had to do. When I came out of the shed I found the turkey in the rafters of the barn hiding it's head. It made me laugh that it understood what I told it. The turkey lived on.

On e summer on our farm when I was still 9 or 10 that the rooster decided to attack my inner left foot; still have the scars. Was very happy when we no longer needed him; just don't recall if he was tasty.

Ringo has got the devil in him today. He must of had some of his oil.😅 I don't remember being afraid of any animals. My sister was scared to death of dogs. Everytime she would go to my brothers house the digs would always great us kind of like Christmas and she would run and scream to his door. Dogs and cats loved her and she hated them all 😅😅.

When I was around eight my brother and I was at grandma house. she had a hen who had chicks, My brother thought he would go pick up a chick, mother hen came after him and flopped him. Mom came out and chase the hen away. I laughed and caught the dickens for not helping my brother who had been teasing me. To this day I am 80 and my brother is 76 still blames me for the chicken chasing him.

I was "chased" by "Dirty Face", our bull every time I went to and from the barn when I was 4 years old. I just made it under the fence every time, on the way out!
Butted in the behind when I bent over to pick a flower by our male goat when I was 4.
Gouged in the leg when I was 10 years old, because I was reading to our rooster's hens. 58 years later I still have the scar!
Chased by our bantum rooster when I was 5.
    Lots of fun memories!
Putting a hen to sleep by rubbing the top of her beak...😂😂😂❤❤❤

Our milkman taught the kids how to put the hens to sleep by tucking their head under their wing and rocking them back and forth. Lay them down on the ground and they'd come to in a few minutes.

My grandparents had a farm. One year we got a cow to raise and slaughter. And my dad was out with the calf. He turned his back to come out of the area ,before we could yell dad turn around the calf head butted him and he went flying. I never heard my mother laugh so hard ,ever ! Good memories there.
