The great thing about Mandarake is that they stay on top of their online stock levels, so you can usually check if the store has an item on the shelf before you go there, and compare prices among other stores.
Great video. Takes me back to all of these places and I still learned a fair few new things! Cant wait to get back there in a few months and will be re-watching this before I go.
Did you go back?
Great videos man!! I love the new style!
Great format. Keep up the good work.
Nice, very helpful guide I’m going to Japan next week this will be very useful
Really loved the video. Great work
LMAO being summer and a bunch of dudes, made you leave quick. I don't blame you on that. I walked out a few places because of that smell.. anyway! I like the format to this video. It is very visual and formative.. look forward to the next video.!!
Great vids! I was in Japan in March and plan to head back next year! Thanks for the guides, very helpful. One place that I feel was underrated for gunpla was book-off. They had some great original gunpla. :)
great job Alex!
Awesome video!
Very useful video, informative and enjoyable to watch ;)
Enrico Asa no Hoshi glad to hear! 😆
I need, no I MUST go to japan someday, this is literal heaven incarnate
Thanks for the share.. really great idea on making something like this... keep it up :)
- i miss my japan tour already....ehehe I wish me and my family will go back to Japan sometime :)
im thinking of going to japan in a month and this video is exactly what i was looking for. thank you!
MrBoyhuman awesome! Glad it helped!
Part 2 may take a while longer as my hard drive died ;(
But if I may offer a suggestion, hit up that Akiba Mandarake, Sofmap 4, and Yodobashi for the best prices. Mandarake for that Pbandai action. Go back multiple times over your trip, cuz their stock changes daily’ :) have a great time man!
@@AlexdadoofStudios thank you very much!
MrBoyhuman you’re welcome! :) glad it was helpful!
ami ami. i remember that one. the only place where i bought my Magic knight rayearth set. kinda expensive but worth it.
2:13 dirt cheap Guncannon Dtector! wow
Much Aloha for your great info on Gunpla in Japan. Now I know where to go^_^
A M you’re welcome! There’s a part 2as well! :)
Great video. Subbed!!
robert dutcher thanks for the love brother!
First scene and there is a r34 sedan. Nice!
One major reason u chose to come to japan duuuuu GUNPLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was just in japan this week and i visited this place knowing nothing about it and found the mg crossbone full cloth, hg psycho zaku and the rg banshee norn. I went to the gundam base to pick up a unicorn perfectable (i keep forgetting the name forgive my idiocy)
You got the Unicorn Perfectibility?! (2 years yes but its so rare nowadays I’m impressed)
shout out to Yamada Denki in Ikebukuro (there are Yamada AND Yamada Denki, only Yamada Denki has gunpla store). they have almost complete selection of HG, RG, MG, RE, and PG, and very competitive price too (cheaper than bic camera if I'm not wrong). the only bad thing is that they don't have gunpla expo or p-bandai stuffs
Thanks for the guide, can better plan my gunpla shopping.
You’re welcome!
I’m actually editing the second part now! It’ll be a few days, but yeah. I’m glad these were able to help!
@@AlexdadoofStudios yes, i like the part where you do review on the price points of each place, so we will know where suppose to get limited ed with better price, where to grab normal gunpla for better price. Cool !! Thanks
@@AlexdadoofStudios btw, from your experience, where's best to get Metal Build ?
metrodude350
Yeah the next one will have a spreadsheet with prices and stuff to compare for yourselves.
Metal builds are typically sold out at a lot of the second hand stores/ or the prices won’t be updated to the point where the prices will reflect current market pricing. But if you’re lucky, you might be able to get a second hand one for a bit cheaper..
By typically you’ll find em bic camera/Yodobashi/ (maybe) Mandarake Akiba+Nakano / maybe surugaya
@@AlexdadoofStudios thanks man 🤝🏻
Mandarake is great as long as you don't buy any Gundam Base limited gunplas😂. Just go to gundam base for those kind of items
nice to see some other parts of shops in Tokyo other than just gunpla!
MoJojOj0 haha thanks! Appreciate the comment man!
bringing a card has the added benefit of being able to shut it off if it is lost or stolen
I heard that unless you are shopping in a big store it's rare that cards are accepted. Maybe that was Zach? Somebody said got to 7-11 and get cash there.
Geoff Longman yeah most big shops, but any place that DOES duty free will take cards.
Fantastic video.did you happen to see any of theb kotobukiya hmm zoids on sale anywhere?
body odour 😂,great intro to japan gunpla needs 🙂
I would Love to visit Japan, looking at all the Beatiful people of Japan, and of course bying many, many P Bandai Gunpla!!!
Uuuuuugggh I will want to go to Japan soooo bad all the damn model kids and the part with people playing magic the gathering, I want to go so bad.
3:58 Hachiroku!
Ae86 love eh? ;)
I know this is 2 years later but in 2:51, the percent isn’t 13% it’s 8% and then a further 5%. Good video btw
Yo, what was that white and blue acguy? Never seen that before, and I'm a big acguy fan. Might try to hunt it down
Bamcorp Gaming gimme a time stamp?
I’m pretty sure Bandai doesn’t make any colored ones besides the special seven eleven/Gundam Base exclusive SD kits
@@AlexdadoofStudios was this one , near beginning of the video, gundam.fandom.com/wiki/MSM-04_Acguy?file=HGUC-Acguy-GFT.jpg
@@AlexdadoofStudios www.amazon.com/MSM-04-Acguy-Tricolor-Gundam-Exclusive/dp/B012YTLDSW
Bamcorp Gaming yep that’s the Gundam base (old GFT) exclusive sd kit I mentioned
@@AlexdadoofStudios sd? look normal to me
I love Mandarake. Bought my PG Unicorn Gundam Final Battle version at the Akihabara store this year. Also bought a bunch of P-Bandai RG's at the Nakano Store. :D You should also check out Yamada Denki's Labi 1 store in Ikebukuro, they have a whole floor dedicated to gunpla. The BIC Camera next door also has a nice selection of standard releases.
🤤
4:00 OHH SHOOT THAT ASURADA
I'M LOOKING FOR A MODEL/KIT OF THAT CAR FROM CYBER FORMULA
Hi there thanks a lot for the info. Just want to confirm with you that the deepstriker price of 16.200 yen is before 25%? Also can we get a further tax discount at the ami ami?
Depends on the shop, but most prices depicted are before the visa/MasterCard/unionpay card discount..
Duty free means you don’t get the extra 8% added onto the pricetagz
@@AlexdadoofStudios ok thanks for the reply. One more thing which place is the cheapest for buying tamashii nation metal build gundam?
Which store do you think has the best prices for new/regular Gunpla kits and which store has the best prices for P-Bandai? I only went to Bic Camera & Yodobashi (Akiba) and Joshin (Osaka & Kyoto). Joshin had the best price for new/regular Gunpla kits of these 3 stores e.g. MG NEO ZEON MSN-04 SAZABI VER. KA 6,156Y and MG 1/100 MSA-0011 DEEP STRIKER 13,800Y. Joshin has an extra 5% off if you pay with Visa card and tax-free if you spend at least 5000Y.
backbone 88
New releases I’d say Sofmap 4. I compared the prices and it’s slightly cheaper at sofmap. And the akiba mandarake was cheaper when I went to both Nakano and Akiba location.
@@AlexdadoofStudios
Does sofmap offer an extra 5% discount if you use Master or Visa? Have you tried using any store rewards cards to get free Gunpla kits? I've heard rewards cards are for residents of Japan only but have also heard some tourist have been able to get and use rewards cards.
@@backbone8834 I think they do., they're a subsidiary of Bic Camera now, so i think the same deals apply to sofmap. =] and no, i've not tried to use store rewards cards. I'll only pop over to Japan maybe once or twice a year, so i can't really say that I'll be accruing a bunch of points or anything to make it worthwhile heh.
I want to go to Japan for super Sentai and gunpla
does Mandarake have kotobukia Zoids kits??
Yes they do
I have my
Gundam destiny
Gundam exia
Gundam double 00
And im looking now for Gundam freedom and justice.
I have a
PG gundam unicorn
PG gundam Exia
PG gundam astray red frame
HG full mechanics Barbados
RG unicorn
HG build divers re rise earthree mars and Venus
พาเด็กไปไหนดี you still don't have freedom and justice? Im finding that two in my country but i cant find the two.
Freedom and justice is my most favorite Gundam but i cant find it.
So where is the best place to buy gundam?
Yau HeenWai
Yamada Denki - ikebukuro
There’s a second video with prices and stuff if you’re interested
is there runners for gundam for sale in there?? im missing some piece pls reply
Yellow Submarine/ Amiami in Radio Kaikan - Akiba
@@AlexdadoofStudios is that a place in japan???
Willzed 76 you asked for places with runners
Do they have mg runners?
Willzed 76 stock changes everyday. You just have to go look yourself. But yes they have all kinds of runners
I don't see your part 2 anywhere...
Yeah my hard drive died, so I had to go back to Japan to redo my videos for part 2. They’re coming soon ^^
@@AlexdadoofStudios awesome. Lemme know.
the reason why I went to japan was military T_T
man i wish i could've PCSed to Japan... =\
I feel you, i was sailing and i only had 3 hours of shore leave everytime we stopped by tokyo, and the port was a good 1/2 hour from odaiba so yeah im so going back as a tourist and not as a sailor😂
on BIC CAMERA does it sell some transformers stuff ?
ramen ramen don’t think I recall them having a large selection there. But I do remember Ami Ami and Mandarake having plenty
alexdadoof studios thank you for your info in this video!its very helpfull for people who are going to japan, especially for gunpla!
ramen ramen yeah I had a second one almost done and then my hard drive died. Currently in the process of getting things recovered and up and running again ^^
alexdadoof studios in this video, you've visited BIC camera, what BIC camera did you visit?could you tell me spesificly?im a little bit confused when i opened google map
ramen ramen haha it says akihabara in the caption ** all the locations state which area they’re in ^_^
says gunpla shopping for head title while in the video he doesn't show us one single time of him buying a gunpla
Ashley Li yeah... it’s a guide. Who actually watches people purchase stuff? Sorry I didn’t satisfy your weird voyeuristic expectations. But yeah that wasn’t the premise for this video.. lol
Didn't mean to criticize btw the video was a very good guide for gunpla buying
Boo, I only have Visa. ;)
I think you need another 3 hours of editing to nail it LOL
To be serious. I want to go there and visit ALL THE STOREZ. Great Vid!
this comment left intentionally blank
Nice video, but background music is too high and makes it annoying.
Victor Clausson I think it varies depending on whatever device, but you’re the first to ever complain about the sound music in mind, I’ll keep that in mind for future videos tho. :D
@@AlexdadoofStudios To be clear, I really enjoyed the rest of the video and thank you for all the great tips. Just got into Gundam and found your vids very helpful. If you compare 0:30 to 2:40 it's a big difference in background music, maybe it's because the first one is voiceover and the other one at 2:40 is the camera mic in a noisy environment. Anyway, didn't mean to make a big deal out of it, maybe I'm just the one having problems concentrate on two things ;)
Victor Clausson you are right. The voice over is done in my quiet room with a proper mic, where as 2:40 is me in the shop... playing with eq and audio settings to remove as much of what I can without losing voice. Heh. Not much I can do about that hehehe
No worries, I didn’t take it in a bad way or anything.
Appreciate the constructive criticism. I welcome it :)
