Fun fact, an earlier concept for gideon was that he had a conjoined twin hidden in his hair. I don't know the exact reason why it was scrapped but I'm also glad they didn't proceed with it.

one thing I would argue is that Mabel never led Gideon on, she was very clear that she liked gideon as a friend and nothing more, while Gideon pressured her and took advantage of her good nature to manipulate her into agreeing to dates, knowing she didn't have feelings for him. he deluded himself into believing she actually had feelings for him and nothing she did would have changed his mind. Yes, mabel needs to learn how to break up with someone, but she didn't lead him on and her feelings were constantly ignored.
she knew what he wanted and kept saying yes to dates. she may not have been stringing him along, but she certainly kept fueling his delusions.
@Elipson52008 she didnt feed anything. she knew and made her feelings clear before the first date. He specifically ignored them and made sure to keep putting her in situations that would pressure her into saying yes.
@@Bloodyshadow1 he only did that once at the diner when he brought the parrot out. every other time she had every chance to say no but she didn't because she, "didn't want to hurt his feelings." and that was the problem. she kept prioritizing his feelings over hers when she knew exactly what he wanted.

4;50 Funny you should mention that. Gideon's design is based on an actual person, who was a child preacher from the 1960s. If I recall correctly, he did the traveling tent style sermons as well. The white hair and powder blue suit are taken directly from him.

Oh, the character from that older show makes more sense. My first thought went straight to Hunter in Owl House, since his palisman was named Flapjack, but I was confused, since they clearly don't have the same VA.

This episode in my opinion hits close to home for a lot of people because many have delt with someone like Gideon at least once in their life, someone who just won't take no for an answer:(

Hotdogs do go off in the microwave, as do a bunch of other things, it very much depends on what and what brand though. Some hotdogs just split as the skin kinda fails when you cook it.

Because it is a lack of respect when someone says they are in a relationship and the response they get is so... There’s actually people who have made Reverse Falls stuff. Basically everyone is character swapped, I do recommend checking it out. But only after you’ve seen all of Gravity falls, cause Reverse Falls have some characters that you haven’t seen yet in the show

7:19 Actually the show is very good at continuity. without spoiling anything, one character was stuck picking between two different yet similar shirts, and episodes later that same character walked into a party wearing the shirt he picked. One time Dipper finds an item as a souvenir from one of their adventure and many episodes later you can see that same item hanging up on the wall of his bedroom. hell some characters that aren't important to the storyline of the episode can be seen that either have an important role in future episodes or to the main story.

Older microwaves, like literally made before 2022-2024 or so, the hot dogs will swell up and dry out on one end, then sort of gradually curl up and shrivel from a seam that forms along the top.
Newer microwaves have this little plastic ring on tiny wheels beneath the turntable that strategically causes the turntable to unsent itself once the microwave gets too hot, literally moving the food away from the "hot spots" that develop in a conventional microwave.
This, combined with air circulation methods derived from air fryer and convection oven technologies, means brand new, super-modern microwaves can cook a hot dog far more consistently than in the past. You might even see some nice even browning, like if you baked it in the oven!
TL;DR: This was a thing, always has been, since the 90s. But you might not be able to do it these days.

Two thoughts that come up for me every time I watch this episode. the first is Gideon knowing Mabel's name from her shirt. When I was little there were PSAs for kids and parents warning parents to not put their child's name on their clothing, lunch boxes, or backpacks, because a stranger wanting to abduct their child could see this and get the kid to trust them by knowing their name...and kids, especially very small ones are stupid to put it bluntly and not realize they got their name off their clothes or items. Yeah the stranger danger stuff was huge back in the day. As a side there this is why I get on even older people trying to bash today's society with things like, "everything is so bad now, parents are afraid to let their kids play outside, in my day...." and I am like..."first off, today we just MORE news than ever before so we are just seeing more of everything (side rant on newspapers prioritizing stories and limited news segments vs the internet), and second that is survival bias, because one too many kids in your generation followed strangers off playgrounds and walked into the back of vans, my generation got bombarded by stranger danger PSAs. and my generation grew up with this mindset, so yeah our kids and their kids are staying in our lines of sight at all times because of that.
the other thought from this episode is the implication they couldn't say that Mabel mistook Gideon for a at time common cliche in girl's media...the sassy gay male friend. She wanted that and the way she talks to him reflects that, as we've seen Mabel is influenced by the girly pop culture of the early 2000s. Gideon however is a narcissistic control freak with delusional outlooks on reality...if things don't go his way he assumes someone has to be plotting against him because he thinks of himself as the universe's special love child.

The only issue with my theory is that Gideon is the town darling so they hear Gideon asking for a date they’d want to get close and see, but that old lady saying she’d die from sadness then the doctor showing up in full doctor garb saying it will happen, since we see all throughout the series mainly that season 2 episode, Mabel is very kind so letting a old lady die would not be good on her coincidence, so did Gideon get the doctor and the old lady there to manipulate Mable into a second date
At this point, that timer won't end until she finishes one piece

One of the great parts about this show is it's flawed characters, the children actually act like children and make stupid kid mistakes.

I refuse to microwave them cause it gives me too much anxiety cause just a second to long it’s “POP” and your hot dog is now split almost in half sometimes fully, it doesn’t go “splat” but it loud and now your hotdog looks like not a hot dog but more like the hot dog bun.
It won’t explode if your careful like only putting it for a minute will make it pop and sometimes even 30 seconds can do it. You either gotta babysit with your face plastered onto the microwave window staring at it and stopping it when you think it’s gonna explode, if it’s still not hot enough then you wait a couple seconds then keep going.
It’s actually really funny seeing it happen to people who didn’t know this happens.
You can slide the hotdog open a bit to relieve the pressure and they won't explode.
You should watch some of mikeburnfire's campfire stories. They're hilarious and pretty informative sometimes.
