Yea, I gotta say, 2022, and these are still the best Tutorials and I use em on RPG MZ. I've tried other peoples Tutorials on MZ and this is still by far best. So thank you!!!
Man Venthros, you are the bomb. Even after YEARS of making these tutorials I can check down in the comments and see that you still care about your fans. Thanks soooo much for making these awesome tutorials!
@@j.ballen2292 it's 2022 now and this is the most useful series of videos I've found. I'm so grateful even after several years they are so clear and easy to follow
Glad this popped up! I'm actually trying to work towards a career in video game development/programming and it's my first time working on anything, and this tutorial really helps. It's comprehensive and the pacing is great! All in all, amazing. Thank you, Venthros.
If anyone is wondering (because I was until I figured it out), to be able to talk over the counter to the NPC, the tiles that represent your counter have to have the "star" selected (not circle or "x") in the passage settings.
You are amazing dude, thank you soo much I'm quickly able to start making my own game with tVX Ace which I purchased like 7 years ago and never really gave it a try until now. Your tutorials has helped me soo much even today! I never knew how easy it was to use and now I'm creating my very first game thank you!!!!!
I decided to finally learn this software with the release of MV. Since there aren't a lot of videos out for the new ver. yet, I figured I'd try to get the hang of things by following VX Ace tutorials. Your series is my favorite so far ^^
I'm only now learning about your videos. I tried just learning on my own when I got the program but everything was way too daunting. Your videos have made it very easy to get started. Thank you very much
im getting really confused with the battle system because i want to create all the classes spells and weapons myself but i doint k now what is overpowered and what is not any suggestions?
+jem sugden I always have that problem in Spore: Galactic adventures. I'm probably going to have the same problem in RPG maker but I'll just go to this guy for help.
thank you for making this videos have seen the first 4 and i all ready have learn a lot more then what i was learning from the help. i fell that i am finally on my way to making my own game. thank you for the help
I got RPG Maker yesterday, tried to find good Tutorials to get going in the start and I gotta say your voice is clear and your Tutorials are great! :) really infomative. *Subscribe!*
Thx for the tuto thats help me alot dont need to be sorry for the time your video go on XD it take a bit time but really well explain XD im to happy for what i learn lolllll
I know this guide is ages old, but does this version if RPG maker have custom font support? I had a nightmare and the font in it would be perfect for a horror game. That font was scary as hell.
I have a question that I can't find the answer to. I have a situation within my game, where I'm trying to set a store, where for a price, you can learn skills you normally wouldn't be able to while leveling up. How can I do that? I looked through the "Shop Processing" section, but it doesn't offer what I'm wanting. Thank you in advance for helping.
Awesome tutorial series :-) I had a question, can you add variables to the weapons and gear. Like a short sword +2 dmg and later buy a short sword with say +5 dmg?
great tutorial, helped me a lot with the basics of rpg maker. Howerver your playlist starts from tut 20 to tut 1, would it be possible to switch it back to the right way, coz its super annoying when im trying to watch in sequence >
Please help. Okay, I understand how you set up the shop but how do you do an option where you make the shopkeeper say something different, if you have not bought anything?.
so far i hav done like you said but when i test it the character isnt responding i put the seller behind a wodden tile which makes it look like a door way
I dont know if youll respond but, I dont know how to make a text box appear when I set it on something like a bed or bookshelf. Im doing a test game before I try and do anything too advanced but I cant get the bed to say "A decrepit bed." When I hit the Z key
I made a shop were the shopkeeper is facing horizontally and i placed a table on the left so it will look somewhat like a real shop, the problem is that when i press the action key the character won't initialize the process. help anyone?
my shopkeeper isnt working? i followed the steps pretty much verbatim but when i walked up to the shopkeeper to talk to him, nothing happened. can anyone help?
You're doing doors wrong! You should place the player ONE TILE AWAY from the edge of the map. That way, if the player goes into a map and wants to leave immedietly, they don't have to walk off the exit tile and then back on it
Hey Venthros! if youre still around... When i sell the item back it gives me an ridicoulous amount of money... e.x: I buy a sword fro 10G but when i sell it it gives me 7400G... how do i fix it?
Is it possible to change the seller's dialogue based on how much gold you spent? For example, if you don't buy/sell anything, it'll say one thing, but if you do, it'll say another thing?
For some reason my character can only talk to NPC's if they are in front of him. I'm trying to make a counter in between my character and the shop owner but it disallows them to converse. /:
*what if instead of “my blades are the sharpest around” it was “my blades are the sharpest in the shed” *SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME I AINT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHEDDDD*
Do you know if it´s possible to draw your own character sprites / mobs / buildings / face animations with something like a WACOM tablet, and insert them into your project in RPG maker?
The short answer is yes, you can. There are tons and tons of resources available at forums.rpgmakerweb.com/ if you want to get started right away. Editing tiles and such for buildings and things on a map can be tricky, as there are specific dimensions that have to be respected. Facesets and Sprites are much easier to do, and a WACOM would be great for those.
Venthros Thanks! I´ve been doing some research on it, and I intend to get to work on an RPG project once my WACOM is in place. I really want to incorporate a Golden Sun-ish battle camera, meaning that I´ll have to master z-index and scrolling backgrounds, as well as draw tons and tons of sprites and a good few backgrounds. Should be interesting! I don´t suppose you can confirm whether or not this can be pulled off in RPG maker at all? I haven´t seen too many people do it, but I don´t know if it´s because it requires too much effort, or that it simply can´t be done...
One thing I've realized about developing for RPG Maker is that just about anything can be done. Battle systems are among the hardest things to pull off because there is a ton of work to do. Creating your own scripts with Ruby seems a bit daunting, but there are plenty of tutorials to help get you started. In case you didn't know, Ruby is the programming language that RPG Maker uses for scripts. Here's a great beginner's tutorial: www.codecademy.com/tracks/ruby
i want to know if i can make shop that need to pay with item like gold or silver from my inventory it wold be awesome ! thanks for the guide because im new here hahaha
Can you do sort the opposite and make a shop that you can control and have people walk in and do business with them --they are the customers--sort of a mini game for your character --like star wars cantina bartender?
windwalker210 Interesting question. You can, but I've never thought of trying it before. Let me play around with this and I'll get a video up about it.
sarmad sdeeq When placing tiles, think of the A, B, and C tabs as layers. Anything from the B tab will layer on top of something from the A tab (example being a chair from the B tab will sit on top of a floor tile from the A tab). C tiles will go on top of B tiles. Hope that helps.
There is. Go to the innkeeper/seller, then go to the events tab, then edit the innkeeper/seller. There should be a script for what happens when you don't have enough. Just edit that.
whenever i walk up to the shop keeper my character doesn't stop at the counter he walks ontop of it. i use a wall but he still steps ontop of it. wtf is going on
i dont know what i did wrong but when i made the shop keeper guy he wast there but was in editing mode and when i put him outside it worked(i made another one but with same code)

When I was developing my Test Game for testing my abilities, I made EXTREMELY amateur maps.
But my god, you really showed me how to roll.
In one day I did so many things in my demo and learned a lot from just 4 videos. Bro, thank you sooo much! You're such a good teacher.
