Most of the people in the comment section love cars so much, but they don't know this racing series Golf has sequential transmission instead of DSG. What a damn shame!
Era AG i have a mk7 big turbo, but am a bit old school and only drive manuals. mind if i ask why sequential is more frowned upon than dsg? is it sequential still use a clutch pedal and therefore take more time? i’m only curious...please don’t kill me
@@genXcripple I don't understand what did you exactly wanted to ask? What's your point?
@@genXcripple No, no, and no...sequential transmission has a clutch to get you off the line but other than that it works like a motorcycle and most motorcycles you can shift without using the clutch if you do it right but unless you have an auto blipper then you should clutch in. With a race car they will most likely have that function so all you do is yank on the shifter or use the paddles (rally they still have a shifter sometimes).
TLDR: Bikes have sequential transmissions and it's just as fast as a DSG.
Yes, this one is sequential but there are 2 versions of the tcr. The other one uses the dsg
Sounds like they’re using the sequential option gearbox instead of the oem dsg. The tcr series is neat all the way around imo. Reminds me of what the koni cup challenge used to be.
They tune it snd use different springs other than that its a stock dsg
they do use sequential because I can hear no delay of the clutch so its going to be a sequential gearbox, sounds like a short throw sequential aswell
@@neozone_hyrax.raw. They do use DSG but they change certain parts there is a video online explaining why they use the DSG.

Downshift, its a sequential so there is alot of wasted fuel out the exhaust and sometimes a backfire sounds more like a bomb went off

Awesome car, but silly question: why is its acceleration slower than the regular Golf R?
anew742 this is way faster than a golf r, even with the restrictor.
I have no doubt it is, but I'm talking about just the 0-60 time. It does 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds (according to the description), while the Golf R does 0-60mph in ~4.8 seconds
oh, well these cars only need to be launched to get out of the pits, so their initial acceleration is not really important.
True, but it still seems a bit odd. Though this thing is clearly way faster around corners, which more than makes up for it!
@@anew742 There isn't anything to make up for. Like is said already, the 0-60 acceleration means next to nothing for these cars and the teams lose nothing by sacrificing it for improvements in higher speeds

I found the document for all the parts on this car and it’s basically straight except 2 little silencer in the back and 2 little high flow cat

Just take apart your engine and clean it of rust etc, get a turbo, race transmission, sequential gearing and a good racing exhaust and go to your local racing circuit

A racing exhaust has been fitted
And its pretty much a straight line from the engine, unlike road cars where the exhaust goes from the engine and from one side of the body then to the other then out the back

They are prohibited in the tcr series
From technical regulation:
3.8 Driving aids
Driving aids are not permitted.
If the race car using mass production engine management cannot be operated without the Driving Aids, the mass production
systems including mechanical parts and Electronic Control Units [Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability
Program (ESP) & Traction Control System (TCS) not included] may be used on condition that the original hardware and
software are maintained (only changes to the wiring are permitted). It is not allowed to the driver sitting in the car to change
settings. The systems may be also switched off or removed (Certification).
The pit speed limiter and the launch control (as described below) are permitted. For the launch control 1 (one) additional
engine rev-limiter is allowed. The rev-limiter is activated and stopped by the driver and is constant during the launch control
phase. There is no closed loop control considering engine revs, wheel speed and clutch actuation allowed.
Other constant rev-limiter(s) is (are) permitted for imposed speed limits (pit speed, virtual safety car, circuit sections with
speed limit, etc.). (Certification)
ABS as Endurance Option is permitted. (VO Certification at any time).
So, in general Traction Control is not allowed in TCR.
And even in the case the engine management cannot be operated without the Driving Aids, you would be stuck to the original one, designed for a road car, and not for a race car.

Well these are small 4 cylinder engines, like they're used in the road cars.. But they also can not be as loud as they might want to be because of noise regulations for example on the Nordschleife (very strict rules there). Listen to all the GT3 cars...they are not much louder then TCR. In fact I think TCR is louder then most GT3 cars but could be wrong, I haven't seen them together on a track, only seperatly.
