- The new 4C is hopefully the beginning of a new dawn for Alfa. It's rear wheel drive, light, fast and far more beautiful in the flesh than in pictures.

I have to say, Chris Harris has some of the best car control of all of the auto journalists I've seen.
Well he IS a race car driver.
" Every time an Alfa pass by, I lift my hat"
Henry Ford
❤❤❤
Alfa has the right idea. Small lightweight car with small punchy engine, much like an Elise or smart roadster. We need more of these as economy will be massively improved wth less weight
Personally if they had a version with the gulia's v6tt i'd buy it instantly.
Aiden Brantley i thought i needed more than 4 cylinders too but then i drove a 4c and then i bought a 4c hahaha i really don‘t miss more cylinders. of course it would be nice but it‘s damn nice too with the 4 cylinders🤷🏼♂️
No one needs two more cylinders around.
Welcome Back Alfa. How we have missed you.
Chris Harris, you are probably my favorite auto reviewer to watch. You are open about the positives and negatives about the cars you drive, and seem genuinely passionate about driving. Plus, drifting in any car you can is a win win in my book. Cheers.
flagged for sexual content
I came. lol
(I wish I could've watched the Porsch Cayman and Lotus Exige have sex because that's what made this beautiful baby.)
The only reason that people compare it with the Cayman is because Alfa gave them a reason for it - performance figures are very close to a Cayman - However i do think that this car is in a league where it can only be compared with the Lotus. They both have supercar looks, both sit very close to the road, both are totally focused on pure driving experience - no gadgets etc and both give you this 'go kart' feeling! What Alfa has create this time, is simply genius and in my opinion it will finally mark the return of the most exciting, coolest and sporty brand of all time! Cuore sportivo!
Shame if you compare it to a lotus it does even worse than if you compare it to a Cayman.
and both have shit build quality and ergonomics.
That return never quite materialized…
CHRIS
You are calm, informative, objektive, good driver………. Etc
Thank YOU !!!
TK
This is one of those vehicles you really have to see in person.
I don't know why but just looking at it on a computer screen it reminds me of a girly Porsche or something, in person though you can really see those beautiful curves in motion, and the overall shape better. *It's hard to explain but it just looks so damn aggressively sexy in reality, it's like the most proper sports car I've ever seen.
(Maybe not the most badass, or aggressive, but pretty in an artsy way.)
in person it looked dissapointing.
engine bay looks half assed.. and a 4 banger turbo is just lame.
@@stijnvandamme76 I disagree, it's definitely a head-turner unless you live in Dubai. I'd definitely buy one and shove 20 more PSI into it. I bet it would be an absolute weapon. 4 cylinders are super capable on light vehicles. I'm currently driving a 389HP VW golf, which is absolutely smoking anything in town below a Porsche or modified GTR. 4 cylinder with some elbow grease goes a long way if you do it right.
i dont need it.....i dont need it...........I NEED IT
+George k I don't think Methadone's gonna work for this addiction....
George k do it ! I love my Alfa 4c spider 😍
@@johnconnor9763 lol now it's probably being recycled lmao how did it break down? Did the engine blow up? Did it fall completely apart? Oh it was both? Lmao alfa romeo is TRASH
bouris b 24 years ago you‘re one salty little fucker. hahaha what do you drive? a golf? little sissy
That Spongebob face tho
Thank you, Chris. As always, great job and very entertaining.
As an owner of my 2nd 4c all I can say Harris is a master in his craft as sliding this short base, non power steering, no lsd car like he does takes carbon fiber balls to do it
An Alfa 8C bred with a Lotus, this is their child.
BAHAHA! I was thinking the SAME THING! Although the girlish charm from the 8c was definitely dominant, it kinda looks like the sister of the Elise. It's not aggressive enough, it's too bubbly, like a miata.
To me this is probably the most exciting car to come out in a long time. I love the fact that this thing made it to production, this is what Alfa should be about...no cynical badge engineering, not a nice looking shell on a random platform that happened to be laying around, just a techologically advanced uncompromised great car. Even if it has its faults it's great to be able to hope this is the direction Alfa is going in for the whole line up. Would have one over a Cayman in a heartbeat.
Cheaper than a cayman with a carbon tub
I absolutely love this new platform. Well done Alfa Romeo for taking on this market. I know where I live, people are talking about this car and wanting it very much.
Wow! I'm used to car reviews that try to be as energetic as possible to create action Car reviews where they rather focus on getting the action than to be informational. I love this review! Calm and really good! Thank you! :)
I've seen it in white color the other day and it's a must have!
Go ahead and buy one, send pictures when your back...
The wheels are one of the best part IMO
Chris used so many ( for me ) new adjectives to describe his driving experiences! Every time i watched a new episode, i have to google a new word. In this show it was "stellar" !
Great! Watching the best carreviewshow on youtube and learn a new word! ;-)
Greetings from germany!
Great test drive as usual Chris Harris! Love this car and what it means for Alfa. Hoping the best for them for other future releases.
This guy is an effortlessly, ridiculously good driver
Yeah... Cuore sportivo !
Best review i have seen in ages . Don't need to watch any more now.
10 years old and wow, this car still looks great!! It truly was the start of the come back.. now they have the Stelvio and Giulia QV, which are amazing cars! Hopefully, they will continue with this trend :)
instant classic

Great video, enjoy the enthusiasm and your the reason I bought one
Chris needs his own RUclips channel, I want to see more and more of his videos and reviews, I just cannot get enough of him, one of, if not the best reviewer/car journalist today.
Modern day ferrari dino
Best way to explain this
no its not. Other than being mid engine and italian, what else does it have in common with a dino? Nothing. No one will mistake this car for a Ferrari like someone constantly would with a Dino. Broaden your perspective, morons
Don't be such a bellend.
Alfa 4C vs Cayman vs Elise is the comparison I'd love to see.
scanspeak00 I was thinking the same thing brother, that would help me alot because these are basically my 3 FAVORITE CARS I plan on being one day soon. I'm leaning towards Lotus, my hearts been after the Exige my whole life.
cybertree Alfa is the only one with soul so you could become only it. One day.
lol
I love your videos Chris. Splendid!
One of my friends is an Alfa Romeo salesman, he got this car to test out a couple of weeks ago. We drove for a some hours. Incredibly fun! love that car!
This seems like a good second or third car. Kinda useless, but it's damn good at being useless.
Id buy it for the same reason I own a Ducati - it wont get me through winters or be good as a grocery getter - but ripping backroads on weekends or going into town, itll be fun as hell.
+TigR 5hark I have the exact same mentality
TigR 5hark Thanks XD. Though before I rent one, I'll see how much I can strap to the Alfa's roof.
+TigR 5hark Yeah, we have an Alfa dealership right by us and I went to go sit in the Spider and the coupe. They are pretty roomy.
I just love Chris and his videos ! JUST KEEP IT UP MAN
0:05 ...............that may be....THE MOST beautiful and controlled power-slide I've ever seen!
That turn at 2:52 made my jaw drop.
I know
Here in 2019. They just killed this car 😭
you can still get new ones that are sitting at dealers at the moment. but probably not long anymore
very good video chris....you are a master of reviewing cars...
Thank you,Chris.What a treat!
I think not offering the car in manual is a huge mistake
😑🤦🏽♂️
need to change the headlights.
The 4C Spider that was introduced in Geneva had different headlights, similar to the original 4C concept car. As far as I know, you will have the option to change the headlights in 4C coupe as well.
@@JustSueMe actually European 4C coupe have these headlights. The American version has more regular looking lights, akin to those on the 4C Spider.
Been looking forward to this car a long time, can't wait for Alfa to come back to the states.
Chris Harris' reviews are perfect.
i know it will probably have zero quality control and many trips back to the dealer for warranty issues, but it sure looks good!!
Well, it's made by Maserati in Modena. So, I would definitely not be worried about assembly quality
djz zzah whatever dude, that's ok.
imagine that, the 4C 3 years later ended up being EXTREMELY reliable. And Alfa topped honda in top 5 for reliability in the US with their Giulia/Stelvio/4C lineup.
no. they landed 4th, ahead of Honda in reliability just a few wks ago in the US. Time to get over the stigma. Haters gonna hate when they cant afford one.
omnifish2 if it was up to me i wouldn't even bother trying to sell one of these cars to Americans. So much effort and investments for what, for having tons of shit constantly thrown at for no reason by folks which is in absolute the least "driving oriented" and least car competent population on the entire planet?
nice & precise Harris... luv u and the Alfa's growing on me, saw it at Goodwood 2 yrs ago,
need to get the tin opener on the roof
your reviews are supreme ! awesome job !!
I drive an AP2 S2000...I want this instead...
+Assyl Yacine I've an AP1(2002)... NEVER a mechanical problem. I want this (4c) car too! Comparing the talk from S2k and Alpha forums it seems the 4c has been a lot more needy than my AP1 that's nearing 14 years of ownership without a hiccup. Alpha (Fiat) has well deserved reputations for unreliability... I don't wanna be my car's bitch.
Yeah Alfas have always been needy. I'm like a horny middle aged man who wants to swap his lovely wife for a younger high maintenance supermodel
I used to own an AP1 S2000 back in 2003. The 4C is the only car now that has gotten me so intrigued and excited since the S2000.
It's like an Exige had an affair with an 8C, cheating on the Elise, and out popped the 4C. In silhouette it totally looks Lotus Exige.
Another analogy is a Lotus Exige wearing Alfa clothes.
Seems like a great car though. I've only seen one up close, but I really want to test drive or ride in one.
I really don't see the Cayman comparison. I think the comparison is totally with an Exige.
i love the 4c(never drove it) but the lotus looks still a bit more agile and faster. imagine the 4c with 300hp
marino4691 They'll probably come out with a more powerful 4C, but not too powerful as to get close to the 8C, even with it's limited numbers. It's like the Porsche Cayman and 911 thing. Porsche knows that if they made a really powerful Cayman, that car would be the one that everyone would want because of the handling advantage from being mid-engine. But Porsche wants to keep the 911 the flagship model, so they'll never come out with a really powerful Cayman. The Cayman one can buy now can give some 911 models a run for their money, so they'll always give the Cayman less power than they easily can to keep it a sub-model like the Boxster. But that could be seen as a good thing, because the money people save by buying a Cayman can be used to make it more powerful and make it a better car than the 911.
Sandra Rios I agree lol, it looks almost like a Porsche Cayman was in that orgy too, especially the way it's built underneath.
Sandra Rios They probably will launch a 2.0 liters version with 316hp. There's no concern about 8C, which was only a limited piece of art for collectors. For a big american road, Corvette. For a Deutsch Auto Bahn, Cayman. Finally, for a sinuous road of Italy, 4C.
OMG I had been wainting for this video for months!!! :')
That video shoot of going through the wide corner looks AWESOOOMEEE ! My another favourite car !
I hope that in any way Alfa Romeo and Lancia brands will be able to reborn! In a century they've contribuited to human culture, not just car industry.
FWD sheds? The 156 is the best peoples-car Alfa has ever made. Very unreliable yes, all Alfas are, but tons of fun to drive, and a very usable car.
unreliable? god!!!! you know nothing about alfas
Diogo Cruz
Lol. They are unreliable. The second most unreliable brand in Europe. FACT.
Nakke144 lol u drive one? Because I have a 147 and I had no problems yet... Bad drivers and mechanics given alfa a bad reputation. Please buy one and then talk to me.
Diogo Cruz
I have had two 156's. Both were fun, but very unreliable. No matter how much you argue, it won't change the fact that Alfas are unreliable. As i said, the second most unreliable car in Europe. Older Alfas are nice cars, though. When they work. :D
It's useless talking with you. Tell me your 156 problems please
Lovely work. Chris Harris certainly sets the standard for car journalism. The 4C is indeed a unique vehicle. It speaks to the emotional connection some of us have with certain cars. As Jeremy Clarkson wrote: "As a car, I'd give it 2 stars out of 5. But as a Thing, I'd give it 6."
Brilliant as always Mr. Harris!
im a japanese cars fanboy but i would take the new corvette over a alfa romeo anytime. I know that corvettes are "american" but they are very reliable & has great fuel economy what it is.
Japanese car fanboys be like:
"The Nissan GTR can smoke the Corvette"
Jacky L. How can you say that a 6.2 v8 has a great fuel economy?? :D
Umberto Bizzarro if you know corvettes bro, they are quite good in terms of fuel economy. Their 6th gear is long enough for that. People gets 30+ mpg with those corvettes 1999+
Actually in the 1-3 years of first ownership the ALFA falls in 5th place for reliablity...the first 4 are japanese and one Korean. 6th place is Honda. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Jag are WAY down the list. So ALFA has resolved any reliability issues and in fact they have proved to be pretty much bullet proof. I have a 2015 LE and the only required fix was a broken knob. This is with tracking and autocrossing so not babied.
"How can you say that a 6.2 v8 has a great fuel economy?? :D"
Because my 7.0 V8 Vette returns 30+ mpg on the highway, all day long
Alfa is finally back.
Another great review from Chris!
Another great review Chris
I enjoy driving my Alfa on the twisting roads here in the south of France. FUN!
Welcome back Alfa. Great summary from IMO, the best car reviewer in the English speaking world. Keep up the great work Chris Harris.
Thanks for the excellent review!
Quality video Chris, thanks, made me smile :D
Wow, what a nice little bullet! Really cool!
Another fantastic video thanks chris, really like the 4C
Cool Clip, thanks. Just drove it vs. the Abarth 695 Biposto. Great Car!
This video was just the right amount of time. It gave most of the information you would need to know about the car. All you need to know about its performance. Chris is a drifting fool. I love those long unedited drifts.
And you guys are giving one away! I will be looking for these clues!
Another superbly written piece.
That car looks absolutely amazing
Love the styling! What a gorgeous little car!
Great way to start the week.
I love it and the 8C as well. Grazie Alfa Romeo, thx a lot! :)
My favourite car presented by my favourite car journalist! Tankyou Chris by a young italian alfista
I totally agree...i remember when my dad got his gtv...all the car magazines and tv shows talked about how well this card handles...
Alfa is Back! great design, great performance, great handling! and an Italian heart!
Great review Chris!
An Alfa that's looks good AND drives good... I'm so happy.
Ive heard so many people whinge on about it not being a Cayman...and Chris proves why that's a good thing..Bravo man!
Greaaat !! I was waiting that....
Excellent review of a rare car and what a driver👍😊
Chris Harris is my absolute favorite person to review a car
Gorgeous little car
I love this car, didn't realise it till I watched this. Even starting to love the way it looks (wasn't a big fan of the appearance of the front). Thanks Chris!!
I'm yet to drive one of these but I love it's looks!
Only car brand that really makes me cry with joy! Once Alfa Romeo Forever Alfa Romeo!
I had a 156 for 13 years. Just tyres and regular servicing. Zero problems 100% driving pleasure.
What I've been waiting for!
Good on ya Alfa, it's been nearly 20 years since I've seen a an Alfa that made me want to own it so bad. Maybe when I get older I'll buy one of these, can't imagine how special this car would be to older Alfa enthusiasts
beautiful looking car
Got one. Seat can be sorted by tilting it and removing the 1 inch polystyrene block in the base and adding some lumbar. Cover peels off the seat very easily.
Stunning
Great looking car!
gorgeous...my goodness
the moment i saw the first shot i knew this was gunna be a good video
nice vid Chris
I would love to drive one of these, they compared it a lot to the Elise and Porsche both of which I've driven on multiple occasions, the Elise is so small that I was the only person who could fit in it properly, but this car looks like it's kind of the best of both worlds.
Exquisite looking car
What a beautiful car
Looks sooooo good!
