    I had a dental implant crown with pontic installed one week ago. Today it became loose. I am more than angry. It has been a 3 month process from beginning to end and it cost me a fortune. Going to the dentist tomorrow. I hope it can be tightened.

      It might be the same issue why my got loose after 3 years,clenching and grinding teeth at night and a crown that is a bit too high. Get a nightguard.

    Helpful and informative video... thanks. One of mine is slightly loose (screwed-in type), so hopefully it's the former scenario! Will give my doc a call tomorrow.

    Have the screw replaced... not just tightened. Once it loosens... it's damaged. Make sure they use a torque driver on the replacement. Check the bite isn't too high. Get a night guard. If it keeps happening.... the abutment does not have a precise fit.

    Hello. This video is very clear and helpful. My implant crown became loose about 6 months after placement and I developed an abscess, had to go on strong antibiotics, return to the surgeon to make sure the implant itself was fine (it was), and make 2 trips to the dentist. Now, one year after that incident, the crown and screw have fallen out. I am seeing the dentist today and am frustrated by the time and inconvenience involved. I do not grind my teeth. I am starting to wonder about the competence of the dentist. Any thoughts you are willing to share? Thank you.

    The problem with that is that everyone doesn't have the money for those MORE EXPENSIVE kind! I think their should only be ONE kind for everyone! Implants are EXPENSIVE, finding out you have a 'cheaper' brand in your mouth would be DEPRESSING AND INFURIATING!

      I don't really get why you're angry - This is just what I have seen, and I have seen a lot of dental implants!
      Saying there should be one implant for all is shortsighted, its like saying there should be one motor vehicle for everyone regardless of need.
      If someone was to go to the cheapest dentist they can find, they should not be surprised if corners are cut in their treatment - its the same for cheap anything- builders, lawyers, architects.
      To do something properly is expensive, and there will always be a market for those people who don't want to pay that price. Dental implants are not a necessity for anyone, they are a completely optional treatment, which is why they are not funded by any healthcare system.

    I'm concerned about implant screws from China that look like standard wood screw thread. They are listed as titanium but look like stainless . They say FDA approved but I found out many electrical items that have a CE approval stickers are not Certified but instead China claims it stands for China export !

    I had a screw (no crown yet)put in 2 weeks ago. Now the tooth right next to the implant screw has shifted. Does this mean my implant will fail?

    Hello Doctor, I have two titanium front implants on 9 & 10 and I believe that they were cemented on to the abutment. However, I had an issue where I bumped heads with someone and It has felt different and has become infected. I had some 2d X-rays done and they couldn’t see anything and referred me to my implant surgeon that originally placed them.. I plan on getting a 3D X-ray soon and I hope that it is a simple fix.

    My Straumann BLX implant became very loose after only one month after screwing in the crown and we removed it. So, I guess I got the worst case scenario. But it wasn't from bone loss or gum disease. Dentist said my bone was good and strong. Must have just been from chewing. Maybe we should have given it more than 3.5 months for the bone to adhere to the implant? I also was missing a tooth on one side of it, so maybe it was lacking that support and that caused more pressure when chewing? So now I have to wait for the hole in my jawbone to fill in and then try again?! I better get an implant for the one next to it at the same time for added support.

    I've had to get one implant retightened several times. They actually had to replace the screw but now I have to have it tightened again. Very disheartening after spending so much money and not being able to get my teeth cared for because of the pandemic. I hope it only needs a little tightening and it's not because of bone loss.

    • @drgurssehmi
      @drgurssehmi  4 года назад

      It sounds like the tooth in top of the implant keeps coming loose, rather than the implant itself (the implant cannot be tightened). Although this is annoying, it can sometimes happen.
      It's good they replaced the screw, as this can sometimes stretch after being fully tightened.

    If the implant is not put in perfectly vertical but at an angle sometimes extreme ,would this contribute to implant failure.Thanks Larry

    • @drgurssehmi
      @drgurssehmi  4 года назад +2

      It probably would, implants (and teeth) don't like sideways forces. But saying this, we often angle implants at 30-45 degrees... But these implants are often splinted together, reducing the sideways part of the force.

    Hi doc, I have a question ok so my front molar never grew in fully I'm currently just 14 years old and yes I have to say I did pick at it for a while I stopped picking at for some time now but now I noticed that there's a part of my tooth missing like idk how this happened but some of it is missing like as if it got divided you know what I'm saying, and it does feel kinda loose and idk what to do, I keep telling my mom that I want to go see the dentist but with quarantine going on idk if that's possible and I've been looken up on it and I'm scared that the rest of my teeth are going to get infected and scared that I might have to take out my molar idk help me out I'm really scared and don't know what to do 😔

    Hi doc, I had my four front teeth crowned because of minor decay than that dentist god forgive him instead of putting veneers on the other to get the perfect smile filed my teeth and crowned 10 upper teeth I trusted him and played away high price for the poor work, I was only 23 😭😭 got scammed. now 31 I'm thinking of getting a better long lasting solution because I spent these years replacing some falling ones, but the idea of having those 6 on 1 implant make me cringe 😢 please can individuals be done?? Or other technique! Saving denture implant for later in life 😭😭
    Thanks

      Hi Kali, my first reply didn't send, so here is version 2!
      Okay, so you are in a terrible situation, I am sorry. The important thing is that your new dentist can assess each tooth for how much is left. You would be surprised at what can be saved!
      I totally agree that you should avoid dentures and full arch implant until much later in life. Everything fails at some point, and you want to keep some good options for the future.
      It may be that some teeth cannot be saved, in this case, implant in those positions can work very well, and if you have a good implant system, often, if you need all on 4 or something like that in the future, you may be able to use the same implants and change the individual teeth to a full set.
      I hope this helps (a bit)
      Gurs
