  • U.S. Marines with 2nd Marine Division, fire M38 Squad Designated Marksmanship Rifles while conducting a live fire exercise at range Hathcock. The Marines received training and were tested to become designated marksmen with the M38.
    The Marine Corps first began fielding the M38 designated marksman rifle in late 2017. Although certain M27s were employed as marksman rifles since 2016, the M38 DMR version outfits the M27 with a Leupold TS-30A2 Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36mm variable power scope, the same optic fitted on the Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle. The naming of the M38 followed a similar convention to the M27, being named after the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines unit that tested the rifle out. Full operational capability is planned for September 2018. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M27_Infantry_Automatic_Rifle)

    The fantastic filming of reality is simply outstanding. The raw video gets all the attributes we want to see. It's simply a paradox that such violent machine as the military can produce such peaceful videos. The documentation is simply FLAWLESS.
    If the military wants to get volunteers, THIS IS THE WAY to do it. It simply shows the reality, harshness and the value behind it.
    These individuals deserves respect and recognition for their service.

      Yeah I know, it's kinda idiot, but the suppressor it isn't involved in the name, because a lot of m27 have suppressors, and they are still called m27 IAR. what gives the name is just the optic.

    What I heard is, The rifle and scope combo is designated the M28 and is replacing the M249 in marine infantry Squads. But M249 will still be assigned at the company level.

      M27 will be a universal infantry weapon for the marines, it will replace the existing M4s, M249s. This thing can act as a SAW with 30+ round magazines, grenadier rifle with M320 launchers (although they prefer it to be used as a standalone launcher), and. squad DMR just like this one on this video

      The IAR was first designed as a squad LMG that could sustain high rates of fire. In the end, it's a rifle that is suitable for all the three LMG, assault rifle and DMR configurations. It's replacing the M4 in the infantry, the non infantry people gets the old M4.

    Thought it woulda at least been a 7.62x54 or something not literally the same rifle as the m27

  • @Phantom8589
    @Phantom8589 6 лет назад

    Why put these scopes on a 5.56? An Acog or Elcan will be affective out to 600 meters easy with a Designated Marksman. It would be cheaper mass acquiring acogs instead of a whole new system. I don't see the bullet being any more affective beyond that even with these scopes give the lack of terminal balistics on 5.56. It seems like an extra expenses with the same results....rifles look sexy but are they worth the cost vs an M4 considering it's the same ammo. Rate of fire doesn't seem to be a big difference especially considering every fire squad has a m249 .

    • @syndicate4417
      @syndicate4417 4 года назад

      Well, the m27 is eventually going to replace every frontline m4/m16 ideally, and they are being issued with acogs, and no suppressors, this is just the DMR variant that youre seeing in the video.... it has a much higher fire rate than the m4 and even the saw... so it is supposed to be a good all arounder.. its only a little heavier than an m4, but provides pretty much the same firepower and an m249... the m240 will remain in service though, for its caliber.

    • @jonny2954
      @jonny2954 5 лет назад +2

      M27 doesen't even have a heavier barrel than a HK416. It's a plain simple 16.5" HK416D with accessoires. M38 is exactly the same, just different accessoires.
      The german army rejected the HK416 due to 1955 AR-15 ergonomics. The G36 already had better ergonomics, so why make a huge step back? They will get the new HK433.

    • @RonJeremy514
      @RonJeremy514 5 лет назад +1

      The HK 433 uses keymod system on the side which is a cons to me, better go with m-lok. Also the charging handle is a bit protruding on the front. I kinda prefer the CZ BREN 2.

    • @billyf22

  • @bullphrogva1804
    @bullphrogva1804 6 лет назад +15

    Leaks came out a few days ago showing this platform is riddled with issues. Though it's not surprising. The M27 was design with M855 in mind, not 855a1, mk.262 or with the pressure changes that come with adding a suppressor. Allegedly these guns are having failures with in 30 rounds and the Brass wants to buy them in bulk.
    Time to go watch Pentagon Wars again because some high ranking general is trying to get his last notch on his belt before retiring and isn't giving a shit about the platform it self.

      Biddy Boy that's a sure indication you have no understanding of the protocols involved. Talking shit on the Internet is another indicator of the inadequate personality you most likely possess and can't overcome. Why bother? Like it or not the United States Marine Corps produces some of the most disciplined, most fit, aggressive, military killers in the world. Try and find another military service whose members, upon learning they are of the same service, and regardless of the generation served, will have an instant bond and friendship. No other military service in the world produces members with a similar bond that stretches across decades and generations quite like the USMC.
