- U.S. Marines with 2nd Marine Division, fire M38 Squad Designated Marksmanship Rifles while conducting a live fire exercise at range Hathcock. The Marines received training and were tested to become designated marksmen with the M38.
The Marine Corps first began fielding the M38 designated marksman rifle in late 2017. Although certain M27s were employed as marksman rifles since 2016, the M38 DMR version outfits the M27 with a Leupold TS-30A2 Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36mm variable power scope, the same optic fitted on the Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle. The naming of the M38 followed a similar convention to the M27, being named after the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines unit that tested the rifle out. Full operational capability is planned for September 2018. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M27_Infantry_Automatic_Rifle)

As soon as I retire we get new toys. Dammit man. 😆
The fantastic filming of reality is simply outstanding. The raw video gets all the attributes we want to see. It's simply a paradox that such violent machine as the military can produce such peaceful videos. The documentation is simply FLAWLESS.
If the military wants to get volunteers, THIS IS THE WAY to do it. It simply shows the reality, harshness and the value behind it.
These individuals deserves respect and recognition for their service.
1:26 guy pushes "magic sniper button"
That trigger control tho.....
Matsimus Hello
MATSIMUSSSSS
M27 with suppressor and scope.......called m38 dmr
Yeah I know, it's kinda idiot, but the suppressor it isn't involved in the name, because a lot of m27 have suppressors, and they are still called m27 IAR. what gives the name is just the optic.
Ahhmmmm OK NOW I KNOW, Thanks
So quiet
They have suppressors on them
matsta177 I know lol
whispering death ;
its loader in person
cool.
What I heard is, The rifle and scope combo is designated the M28 and is replacing the M249 in marine infantry Squads. But M249 will still be assigned at the company level.
M27 will be a universal infantry weapon for the marines, it will replace the existing M4s, M249s. This thing can act as a SAW with 30+ round magazines, grenadier rifle with M320 launchers (although they prefer it to be used as a standalone launcher), and. squad DMR just like this one on this video
@@cokemeat1294legit? Are the barrels replaceable with that of an LMG?
lmt all the way
So will this replace the M4-A1s ?
No it's a Markmans Rifle.
No, the M27 will replace the M4 in the Infantry battalions, the M38 will probably replace their current DM platform which I believe is the M39 though I could be wrong
chris mclaughlin lol exactly
You're doing it wrong...^
The IAR was first designed as a squad LMG that could sustain high rates of fire. In the end, it's a rifle that is suitable for all the three LMG, assault rifle and DMR configurations. It's replacing the M4 in the infantry, the non infantry people gets the old M4.
Thought it woulda at least been a 7.62x54 or something not literally the same rifle as the m27
Why put these scopes on a 5.56? An Acog or Elcan will be affective out to 600 meters easy with a Designated Marksman. It would be cheaper mass acquiring acogs instead of a whole new system. I don't see the bullet being any more affective beyond that even with these scopes give the lack of terminal balistics on 5.56. It seems like an extra expenses with the same results....rifles look sexy but are they worth the cost vs an M4 considering it's the same ammo. Rate of fire doesn't seem to be a big difference especially considering every fire squad has a m249 .
Well, the m27 is eventually going to replace every frontline m4/m16 ideally, and they are being issued with acogs, and no suppressors, this is just the DMR variant that youre seeing in the video.... it has a much higher fire rate than the m4 and even the saw... so it is supposed to be a good all arounder.. its only a little heavier than an m4, but provides pretty much the same firepower and an m249... the m240 will remain in service though, for its caliber.
Can´t tell the difference between the M38 and M416.but it looks sexy. Also, it´s funny how the german army has to deal with the crappy G36 while the us gets to play around with the good stuff.
The M27 is essentially a heavier barrelled 416
Dewoy1 we will get a new rifle in the next years and when you know how to shoot the g36 it is a great weapon
M27 doesen't even have a heavier barrel than a HK416. It's a plain simple 16.5" HK416D with accessoires. M38 is exactly the same, just different accessoires.
The german army rejected the HK416 due to 1955 AR-15 ergonomics. The G36 already had better ergonomics, so why make a huge step back? They will get the new HK433.
The HK 433 uses keymod system on the side which is a cons to me, better go with m-lok. Also the charging handle is a bit protruding on the front. I kinda prefer the CZ BREN 2.
It's the same weapon platform with minute differences like barrel length and attachments that's pretty much it
Leaks came out a few days ago showing this platform is riddled with issues. Though it's not surprising. The M27 was design with M855 in mind, not 855a1, mk.262 or with the pressure changes that come with adding a suppressor. Allegedly these guns are having failures with in 30 rounds and the Brass wants to buy them in bulk.
Time to go watch Pentagon Wars again because some high ranking general is trying to get his last notch on his belt before retiring and isn't giving a shit about the platform it self.
why dont they just get fucking scar. its better then all this stupid m4s. scar fixes everything they bitch about. they dont want that just get aks in 556 or ak74
Idk why pressure change is an issue, it's an HK short stroke piston rifle so it should be possible to change the settings right? Especially on piston rifles, those are supposed to work well with suppressors.
@@2000rayc the scar sucks... and its barrel is wayy too thin, it's not as modular, its heavier...
He dont need to punch it 1:30, its HK not the crappy M4
Is this guy alive?
Why the sound still loud? The supresore did not work.
5.56 is loud, even suppressed
The suppressor does work, the 5.56 would be louder
0:40 Heckler & Koch *Made in Germany* ))
MsMultifrukt WTF?! Good catch! Why are we using foreign made firearms when we have so many American rifles manufacturers that could boost our economy. H&K make good guns but I am sure we can make something just as competitive if not better.

It is based off the M16/M4 platform. In a sense essentially the same reciever
Leatherneck Aviation
AR 15 - the direct gas system
HK 416 - short-stroke piston (G 36 system)
Nope, the upper is short stroke gas piston and the BCG is different. It is basically the HK 416 with a heavy barrel.
JUST TAKE THE FUCKING SCAR!@!!!!!
The SCAR kinda suck
M27* IT SAYS M27 ON THE RIFLE
opposite side says m38 dmr. but it is an m27 variant
Read the video description.
I want doing sniper
if I am Israeli can i join the marines?
if you have a green card
Weird, video say M38 - but rifles are marked M27 WEIRD.........
same gun, diffferent scope. bam. different designation
If u equip a suppreser and a long range optic on M27 its called M38-DMR . That makes no sence but its true 😂😂
@@lawrencewilliams8234 read the video description. It tells you why the 3/8 designation.

those must suck to carry lol
Also very similar to the M16 body

Piston rifles tend to weight more on the front. I don't understand why HK doesn't replace the picatinny rails with the M-LOK instead
@@RonJeremy514 i agree, when i carried the m27,, i loved it.. but it doesnt need a full quad rail.. nothing does.. mlok or keymod is the way to go
The marine corps seriously has the shittiest ranges ever
Na stick w 338 or 50 cal
This is a DMR...
Wow horrible shooting. Look how rough the trigger pulls are !!
Ok some better then others when i re watched
i saw one terrible pull and the rest looked clean. maybe he was doing it for the camera. who knows. he is a marksmen afterall
meant his mos not his qual. Designated marksmen are in fact machinegunners rocking m27s so it would make sense that they are the guys testing the m27 IAR with a mounted scope (m38)
we are obviously talking about two different things. I am not talking about the squad's designated marksmen with the best range score and the long gun. I am talking about the guys in DM school, who recently switched from M249s to m27s, machine guns, as you well know. Good talk www.thebalancecareers.com/marine-corps-designated-marksmen-3332787
These guys are designated marksman for their Battalion. Commanders don’t just give that job out. You are hand selected based on your rifle qualification score. Top 10% of the unit. These guys know how to put rounds on target.
Load and make ready in the same sentence. Just shows how trigger happy Yanks are.
Biddy Boy you bet buddy.
Yeah see what Patton's army did in WWII.
Biddy Boy that's a sure indication you have no understanding of the protocols involved. Talking shit on the Internet is another indicator of the inadequate personality you most likely possess and can't overcome. Why bother? Like it or not the United States Marine Corps produces some of the most disciplined, most fit, aggressive, military killers in the world. Try and find another military service whose members, upon learning they are of the same service, and regardless of the generation served, will have an instant bond and friendship. No other military service in the world produces members with a similar bond that stretches across decades and generations quite like the USMC.
