When you said “I was tired of having to look around spending time finding stuff for the kids instead of actually doing it and this was just. Done.” Thats really hitting home and helping me decide!!
I’m switching our history to TGATB and I’m so excited! We have a large family so doing things as a family helps so much! We’ve been using TGATB for LA and have loved it.
Hi Denise! We are still using it! We actually didn't use it when I did this review due to some family circumstances, but we started earlier this year. We just started unit 3 last week. We are really enjoying it. It's easy to do family style, and even my 5 year old is sitting in. Some lessons take us more than a day, but they are easy to split up, or could be shortened if you need to stay of a specific schedule. I REALLY like going through all of history in one year. I'd still highly recommend it!
It has been pretty non-denominational so far. There are religious lessons, but from a historical perspective, not doctrinal. Or it tells you to discuss your specific beliefs, like discussing the church history of your religion. There is a specific LDS supplement for history that can be downloaded for free if someone is looking to add that.
We are so excited to dive in with this curriculum this year. Thanks for the printable bookmark. I can’t wait to get in there with my highlighters. Lol.
Thank you for posting this in depth explanation I was really excited to purchase this, however the price and scope seemed a bit much for us, and after watching your video it confirmed for me it probably isn't a good fit. I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into making and posting this video it was incredibly helpful!
Misty Shibley All of my printables can be found here... homeschool101.wordpress.com/printables/ The history bookmark is almost all the way at the bottom.
Haha! 😊 They are Latchmate bins. The easiest place to find them is Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Walmart carries them from time to time, but not consistently.
Do you feel the history game and big book of stories are something that can be used with any history curriculum? We do classical conversations and I thought maybe I could just get those items as an addition to our current curriculum.
Amanda Perzinski I don't know why not! The stories are great and could definitely be used in other applications. There is a pretty good sized sample on the website if you haven't checked in out yet!
Spring Kraft Ah! The question I don't have an answer to. 😊 I think I'll be putting them in magazine files so I can store everything together and then storing in our school room somewhere out of the way. Maybe. 😜
thanks for the review we are planning on using this next year and are very excited about it. i have a question kind of off subject.. can you pls tell me where you got that metal galvanized tote that’s holding markers in the video? it looks like exactly what i’ve been looking for. thanks
fdabill1 It's from Amazon.😁 It's a tiny bit bigger than I wanted, but it totally works and I looked forever! I put cups in the back to hold scissors and smaller stuff. amzn.to/2J5URSK
I recently switched the family to this curriculum as well. We started it earlier this week and we’re liking it a lot. Same with language arts, handwriting and science. So glad I found this curriculum. It matches my style of homeschooling... except I will no longer have to put so much prep time in. 😁 Great idea with the color coordinated highlighting. Thanks for sharing.
3BBMonkeys My 8 year old has willingly done LA with me this week on Spring Break! We definitely needed a change and this seems great so far! Glad it's working for you too!
Loved this walk through. Thank you for making all of the wonderful printables! We’re using TGtb for almost everything this year too and they’re a huge help in my planning.
Let us know in future how it's working out! I have 6yr old and contemplating this or story of the world. Love these videos ....really helping me decide to go with tgtb.
Maria A I definitely will! My plan is a follow-up in 2 weeks and then probably another when we wrap up at the end of May. I've seen a lot of people switching over from SOTW, but I am not super familiar with it.
Andrew Smith www.pdfclassicbooks.com/boy-of-the-pyramids-a-mystery-of-ancient-egypt.html I printed 4 pages to a sheet, cut them and spiral bound. Plenty readable for me!
No problem! I'm going to make it for myself anyway... someone else might as well use it too! Grab your bookmark here: homeschool101.wordpress.com/printables/

Hi! Thanks for the video! Did you end up liking it after you used it? Are you still using it?

I’m using TGTB LA and it’s been a really good fit for us. Is the history non-denominational? Is there history of LDS included?

Absolutely love this... very informative and lots of great ideas to go along with it. Thank you very much!

Thank you for the review!

so are you suppose to do all 4 levels of history and then go back and start the 4 levels again?
Yep! There are 4 levels in the Student Explorers, so each time you go through it, your student will have a different activity that is age appropriate.
Megan Phillips what if you start in late and only make it through once, is that ok too?

I need that bin:) Could you tell me the brand or where you go it? Thanks for this review.

Where do you put science/ history when you are done and going to save for another year? Curious what you might do?

wow you even included a link wonderful thank you.
Where did you have the boy of the pyramids book printed at?
I printed it myself. I just set it to 4 pages per page so it was small (but readable) then chopped it, laminated the covers and spiral bound.
Megan Phillips thank you!

Thank you for such a good review....would you be opposed to making one of those book marks for Level 1 LA or universal one for Science?
Little Learner and Mom Hmmm... that's a great idea... let me work on it! 😊
This awesome! Thank you! I also love the highlighter idea!
Sozo Happy You're welcome!
Can you show more of the student explorer books at each level? A sample lesson of who colored what while your older child did...?
Loved this walk through. Thank you for making all of the wonderful printables! We’re using TGtb for almost everything this year too and they’re a huge help in my planning.
