    Thank you for sharing your sweet testimony. As an LDS (Mormon) transplant from Utah to Dallas, TX, it has been hard seeing the prejudice among fellow Christians. It was really hard to find a co-op that was open to us which really floored me. Coming from Utah I was in the majority and here....I'm not! :) I love your spirit of unity. Whether we worship Christ (in whatever form that looks like), or another supreme being, or no one at all, it doesn't matter. We are all mothers doing our best. And we are all blessed for the freedom to homeschool and teach our children in the way we see fit. Sistahs Unite! :)

      I could see how that would be hard coming from Utah, where mormons are the majority. I sometimes want to move to texas because I live in Portland, where mormons certainly are not the majority, and where homeschooling in the mormon community is "odd".. but it sounds like there are challenges anywhere we live :). so I am odd all the way around, and I like it. I love being different, set apart. because the Lords choice people are just that. they are not of the world, we are set apart, different, and even hated by the world. so we can unite with those who truly KNOW Christ and have eyes to see and faith to act. Love to you my sweet sister in zion! you are doing the lords will and others will see your light and wonder where it comes from ;)

      I’m also a member but I’m in Australia it absolutely dumbfounds me the prejudice that members receive from other ‘Christian’s’. I’m so grateful for this curriculum to teach my toddlers for now because it is Christ centred.

    Watching this has been so encouraging for me. We're brand new to homeschooling. We'll be starting with my kindergartener. I NEVER anticipated being a homeschool parent. Like, I frowned upon it. But here we are! I learned a bit about TGATB and decided we'd give it a shot. You're enthusiasm for this curriculum after using it with your kids feels like a bit of weight has been lifted from me. There's so much fear entering into this education unknown!

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  5 лет назад

      Alyssa, our story sounds the same :). I totally mocked homeschool families... the Lord has a sense of humor and here I am, the homeschool family and I am the one being mocked ;) But, truth be told, this side of the fence is absolutely AMAZING! You will find yourself wanting to share homeschooling, "best kept secret" ,with everyone you know. I wish I homeschooled from the beginning!! Once you take the first courageous step the Lord will come ten fold and carry you! Best of luck to you. you will do absolutely GREAT!

      I have a question for you! Do you calculate time spent reading or do you calculate pages to read daily in the homeschool planet generator! I absolutely LOVE Homeschool Planet!! Thank you for doing this video. We have been going back and forth trying to decide to ditch the old and start new with the Good and the Beautiful. I was really struggling with that decision. Then after watching this we did just that. We are only 2 days in but this is EXACTLY what we were looking for. I love how it challenges the kids and honestly so do they. It makes them feel so accomplished. ❤ this curriculum. Thanks for posting this. PS...we just ordered the history curriculum too. It's out with the old and in with the new!!! 😊

    Your videos give me the motivation to keep homeschooling! I’ve mentioned before that I don’t have any friends that homeschool around me and I doubt myself a lot so just hearing your testimony helps tremendously.
    A few follow up questions:
    - do you have your daughter write a report or anything after she reads each book you require?
    - Do you do history and science M-Th? Do you do both at the same time or alternate between units? Ex: do a science unit, once you finish that unit do a history unit..etc.

    • @marissamamawiththeoils1245
      @marissamamawiththeoils1245 7 лет назад +1

      Emma Seymore I believe she may have answered some of the schedule related questions in one of her last videos. Not sure about the book report question. Hope that helps!

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 лет назад +1

      to answer your questions- book reports I give my kids a lot of options (art, essay, paper, oral presentation, power point)., they always pick something different each time, it is so fun to see them report the book through all different ways.
      And for history I do units. So right now we do history MTW for about 6 weeks (revolutionary war). then we will switch to science unit for about 4 weeks. then back to history. we tried to do science 2 days a week and history 2 days a week, but by vote my kids wanted to dive in deep with one thing at a time. so for now units are working for us!

    K, I just came across this and I am exactly where you were at... my kids are 11, 8 and 5 and I'm going to pull them out of public schools as soon as I figure this out. I have been all over the internet researching SO many programs. This one kept coming up but the quality was a concern of mine and I'm so glad you addressed it! I didn't know what the curriculum was actually all about and this helped SO MUCH!! Thank you!!!!

We are still using TGATB, my kids are STILL absolutely engaged and thriving academically, and I am SO excited for their new High School program!! Take a leap of faith and go with TGATB, you will wish that you pulled your children from the schools sooner!

    Yay! A video! I've been waiting for it :)
    1.) I was using My Fathers World for my 6 (now 7 year old) twin boys at the beginning of the school year. It's good, but it just wasn't feeling right for us. After watching your video on The Good and the Beautiful, I ordered it and we've been using and LOVING it!! EVERY SINGLE THING you said about it was true for us as well. Thank you so much for sharing!
    2) I can't wait to hear your review on the History curriculum. I want to get that next!
    3.) We are 'new-ish' converts (lol) and I just absolutely adore you and what you stand for. Your videos are fun to watch and I love how down to earth you are.
    4.) Did you mention what math curriculum your 9 year olds are using? Maybe I missed it?
    Thanks!

      Hi Stephanie. So happy to see you comment here ;) That is awesome you got it and it is working for you, love that!! So history is coming up soon, my next videos will be "do a lesson with us" level 4 and level 6. then I can go to history review and how we do that. My twin boys are using Teaching Textbooks math. we were using Saxon, and it is a fabulous curriculum, but I was getting overloaded with my kinder so I switched them. TT is more independent on the computer and it has been AWESOME! My olders use TT and Drew, my kinder, is doing Math U see Primer. Hope that helps!

    Instant subscribe 10 minutes in! I love your outlook on homeschooling and the public school system/grade levels. And just on life! What happened to learning about LIFE being our source of “entertainment”? Now it’s tablets. Not in my house. I didn’t grow up like that and I’m seeing my kids lives going in that direction if I don’t do something about it now. I just pulled my oldest out of public last week. My kids love the program! Level K needs to be renamed level A as is more of a last semester K or first semester 1- I lean more to the first for many students. Level 1 is a solid late 1st and 2nd grade. Level 7 teaches essays and early research skills so well. I like to use CLE KII right before using TGaTB K as it gives a solid six months of practice with CVC words of which I believe is needed for many children before going into all of the other phonograms. We are using levels K/1, 2/3, 4/5, and HS as soon as it comes out. We just finished levels 1, 3, and almost have finished 7 with our oldest. The LA is simply fabulous!

      Carrie Woods - we are still really loving the curriculum! The quality and wholesomeness of the material is amazing, and it's wonderful to open up the workbook and start a lesson with no preparation required. It continuously reviews concepts the child is learning but doesn't seem too repetitive, and the length of the lessons are very appropriate. We have been using the Language Arts, Science, and Handwriting so far, and I had the opportunity to download the next 5 grades of Language Arts for Free 😊We are really excited to continue with the curriculum. It has been a great fit for our family!

    Hi 👋🏻 I am new to the idea of homeschooling and had a few questions. What is your take on their chances of getting into good colleges after being on homeschool versus someone who went to a highly rated high school? Also, what does your day look like while homeschooling. What does it take? Thank you in advance.

    Hello :) This is my first year ever homeschooling. I am looking into the good and the beautiful and master books. I've been reading that the good and the beautiful is wonderful, but it does require parent lesson planning vs. masterbooks it's set and has a daily schedule where it tells you which and how many lessons to do per day. I work from home, but go to work in person two times a week. What do you recommend for busy moms ?

      Favored4life just my two cents- I do CC, but have not used the good and the beautiful yet but I am SERIOUSLY considering it for next year. From everything I can see, it looks it would be a great fit with CC! Especially in the grammar stage of CC (grades k-3) you can really use any curriculum you want to teach a solid foundation in reading, writing, math, because cc does not cover those things in depth. In the grammar stage cc is building a foundation on memory work and building pegs of knowledge and information that your child will come back to later. So yes, I definitely think these would work really nicely together :)

    • @favored4life
      @favored4life 6 лет назад

      Lauren Goodwin yes, thanks. I visited their open house and looks like any curriculum could be used but they pushed for saxon. How's homeschooling going for you?

    • @jodygoodwin77
      @jodygoodwin77 6 лет назад

      Great! Ya, I don't use saxon LOL! Homeschooling is overall going well, but its a mixed bag for me. I have 3 boys and a 4th on the way. My oldest is in first grade. He's super bright but is really struggling with seated work for reading/writing. So unfortunately every day feels like a battle! BUT I do love CC because he can easily pick up the memory work and I know he is learning really great things that he will use later in his education. You should check out "farmhouseschoolhouse" on IG and also just search for her blog. She has been a HUGE encouragement to me as she does CC in a Charlotte Mason style sort of way and she just shares lots of amazing tips about how to incorporate CC in a relaxed way. Blessings on your homeschool journey! Take it slow, and just try to learn little tidbits every day. I've learned so much this year already just through doing CC about what works and what doesn't work for our family.

      Lauren Goodwin thanks. We are excited to start this upcoming year. Sometimes I have to allow my 1st grader to sit in different places to read/write. He loves going in a tent, under a table or even outside. I think environment is big with their minds. I love Farmhousehomeschool; she's a rockstar with her kids. I'm looking forward to the new school year and learning more about these blessings God entrusted to me. Remain blessed and have a great weekend!

    I’m pulling my kids out of public school next year, but I have a son who has watched them come home on the bus for the last year. He will be starting kindergarten and has told me wants to go to school. I am having a hard time deciding on what to do for him. Did your son want to homeschool kinder or was he hoping to go to school?

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 лет назад +1

      My littlest went to a christian preschool, he loved it! so I had the same concern and even researched private kindergartens, and we had the means to do that too! there were many good private schools that would have been fabulous for him.... But the Spirit was SO strong to keep him home. to keep the family unified. I followed and he is home. Days have been hard with him, challenging, and sometimes I hear my olders say "just send him to school.." because he does take a lot of my attention. But I followed the Lord, I was obedient and continue to be. I will face the hard times and pray and find my way. My kinder is reading so well, and he is learning TRUTHS! He is participating in our prayers, scriptures, and testimony. He feels the spirit in our home all day everyday. There is a reason he needs to be here. It is more than just to go have fun socially and make crafts at a school. The Lord has a deeper calling for me and our family. - pray and you will be guided with what to do!

    I've been waiting for a video from you for awhile, so thanks for sharing! I am looking to switch curriculum for next year and wanted to see how you liked TG&TB after switching and so far it still sounds awesome! I think I am drawn to you first of all since we both love the Lord, same age, this is my first year homeschooling and your 2nd so we are fairly new to this, I have a 12 year old boy and a 9 year old boy so our kids are close in age and same grades and I am a twin like your boys! Can't wait to see part 2 when you dive into the curriculum! I am currently only using their science, The Human Body, and we are doing good with that, but my 6th grader has already learned that in PS, so not sure how to split them up with that! Any ideas let me know! I know that they have instruction for older kids in Middle School but that would be very hard for him because writing is a struggle. Has your daughter already learned the science you are doing with your 4th graders and is she bored or do you make her do more? Hope that makes sense. My 6th grader has a hard time comprehending so he doesn't love reading like your kiddos do! So I am working on that! Anyway, thank you for the video and blessings over your family! :D

    Hi, I'm already getting next years school curriculum figured out. The good and beautiful looks great but hoping you could answer a few questions for me. Is there grammar problems everyday, spelling problems everyday and how often is a writing lesson? Also my 4th grader hates and drags out writing so much so I need something fun and simple for writing, how does the writing lessons rate in this curriculum? Thanks so much. Ela is the only subject I am kind of at a loss to do. We are doing easy grammar this year and love it but I like how this has the rest included with it. Please let know know your thoughts, it's greatly appreciated! Shannon

      Oh one more question, next year my oldest girl is in 6th and my youngest girl in 5th. Do you think it would be okay to do same level for the two or do you think that will really hold back my 6th grader whom is fantastic in schooling?

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 лет назад +1

      Shannon, there is spelling daily and they do "grammar and geography cards" everyday. Along with the cards they do have grammar in their lessons too. I have one 4th grader that is a natural writer and his twin brother is more like yours (doesn't know how and gets stuck easily and really needs encouragement). It is interesting to see how they do with this curriculum while in the same level but at different writing stages. My struggling writer is doing well! The writing assigments are step by step. only 1 step daily. so he can handle it. and with my natural writer he tends to just run with it and complete all steps in one shot! It is really fun to see. How would I rate the lessons, 2 thumbs up! I was actually so surprised. The thing I LOVE is that it is not writing ALL THE TIME EVERYDAY. It is more like a writing "mini unit", then they will get a break and do geography or art for a bit. it helps them breath. Then back to writing again. we have loved it.... sorry this is long..... As for keeping your kiddos in the same level, you could! but that is up to you, you know them. Do they want to do their "own thing". I would say pray about it and your answer will come ;)

      What surprised you, did she score higher or lower than you expected? honestly, do not worry about it. 💙 I’m Catholic and have been researching this curriculum. It looks like all portions will be great for Catholics except the history curriculum. Their website states its written from a Protestant perspective and I’ve heard there are a couple of lessons that reflect poorly on the Catholic Church. That’s okay though. There are plenty of Catholic history curriculums we can use. I’m using TGTB for the rest because it’s awesome.

I haven't found anything bad written about the catholics in the history curriculum, I will check with my catholic friends that use it. I find it very honorable that you are researching and making sure it works for your family and faith, that is what all of us should do with everything we bring into our homes. Much love to you!
