Thank you so much for posting this video! I've been so curious about the history curriculum, but since I went to public school, I learned history from a secular perspective, and I've been trying to wrap my head around how history is taught from a Christian/religious perspective. This has really helped me to hear/see/understand. Thank you for sharing!
Love your pov on how there are people from every race who have done great things or aweful things! Also,I'm brand new to your channel and I already love it!
We went to a neat Cherokee village called Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee, NC. If you ever have a chance to go there, definitely do it! Fun stuff we learned. The Cherokee didn’t live in teepees! They built houses! Also, funny fact...if a man made the wife mad and she didn’t want him anymore, she would leave his shoes outside by the door. Then he’d have to moved back in with his mom. We thought that was kind of hilarious. It was such an informative place to learn about the Cherokee! Also, the guy that did the tour said that the Cherokee actually accepted the Christian beliefs because they already believed there was on god so Christianity aligned with their beliefs.
This looked very interactive like TGATB science. Would you say most history lessons are like that? You read some, and there are some sorts of activities interspersed?? I recently compared the Gather Round science unit to TGATB and that’s one big difference I saw there also. TGATB science is so interactive throughout EVERY lesson. My kids LOVE that!
We just started using TGATB history this year (2nd year of homeschooling). We alternate a history unit and a science unit and focus on those a few days a week with Friday being "Fun Fridays." My kids and I all love how the units vary on subject/time period. It really keeps it interesting for all of us. I've been surprised at how much the kids (even my 1st grader) have remembered from our history lessons as it has come up in other random conversations, when watching a movie/reading a book/etc. The kids also really enjoy the audio portion of the lessons. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how all people can do things that are good or bad--- that no one group is inherently either good or bad. I think that's a really important conversation to have when discussing historical events. Thanks for your video!
Thank You for this. I purchased TGATB for use starting in summer- our next year. This gives me a sneak preview of what to expect. I agree with what you said here. We used a very advanced program for 1 and 2nd. Part of the reason we switched by grade 3 was that the history was way too much and it was woven in such a way that you couldn’t really take it out. Everything was built around it. It also moved sooooo slow so I love that this isn’t one time period only!
We have loved history 1 this year and it was fun to see how things roll at your house. We alternate our read aloud as well. We did love Boy of the Pyramids and The Three Gold Doubloons that were recommended for history 1.
Thank you for doing a whole lesson in "real time". I've been bouncing back and forth with a literature based and project based history program the last 3 years, but I think after seeing all your videos over many years we might try TGTB for history this next year. Love your videos Ashlee!
I loved watching how you do history with your family. Your children sit snd listen so nicely at the table. We are using TGATB History year one this year. It is working very well for my fifth grader. But for my 1st and preschooler, they do not have the attention span to sit that long for the reading. I’ve been breaking it into 2 parts, and giving them a snack or something to occupy their hands while I read. Im learning as much from the lessons as they are and I’m loving it! I also find a lot of it to be relevant to what our country is going through at this time.
Loved this live lesson! My husband is half Creek and registered with his tribe. My girls love learning about their native side! Their registration cards have the percentage of “native blood” they have based on the records from the Dawes Roll. Interesting stuff!!
Love this! We just finished TGTB History 2 last week. We are taking a month off of history then doing Notgrass 50 states, then will continue on to TGTB History 3! I love their history curriculum and feel like I can repeat the cycle of 1 through 4 again and the kids will pull different things from it later. So, we may do that as my kids are 1st and 3rd grade currently, but we shall see.
Thank you for posting this!! I’m adding more history and was curious what it might look like with tgtb. I also wanted to commend you on your post I saw on Instagram yesterday. Keep posting and don’t listen to the haters! I’m so sick of race baiting!
I just used it for the first time with my ninth grader this year, and the explorers and the extra projects that go along with their age group are so wonderful that I will continue throughout her high school. I think you will love it!
Keep these videos coming💜 You’ve encouraged me so much with my homeschooling journey. Purchased TGTB history 1 the beginning of my homeschool and love it and will CONTINUE!
Thank you so much for the live history lesson. Love watching you teach your children, such a inspiration ❤ i cant wait to start our tgab history this fall.
Thanks for this video. We are doing a South African history curriculum called Footprints on our land. We do this the same way your history lesson is done. So this was great to see
I have my preK/kindergarten son listening in with my 7th grader. He loves listening to the audio stories and doing the little activities that come with it .... like the taste testing foods from ancient Egypt 🙂
I love this. We are doing the Year 1 History and I am loving learning along with my children. I love the audio story as much as they do. We are trying to decide if we are going to continue to homeschool next year. This first year has not been easy. If we do we will be going into year 2.
We used tgtb for language arts this year. I just ordered history year 3 and 2 science unit studies for when we finish up what we are using. We school year round so we finish things up at random times.
We plan on doing year 1 next year as a group with my 4th&2nd graders. We attempted sit this year but ended up placing it aside, digging into geography and social studies and reading the imagination station series.
I am going to switch to TGTB for our homeschool 2021/2022 year. What we are using now just isn’t working for us. Thankful for your informative videos! ❤️
hi! We LOVE TGAB for 2 years now, so it's so great to see how you use this long term. We just started History 1 and we LOVE IT! I was wondering how/when do you teach the 50 states?
Do you have different rolling crates for different subjects? Could you show us what you keep on them? Also, where did you get the pencil/sissors holder that was on your table?
Where does TGAB begin history? In the Garden of Eden or the Fertile Crescent? Are Biblical historical figures such as Abraham, Noah, or Paul discussed? Is church history - Protestant vs Catholics and the beginning of denomiations taught? What about LDS history and Joseph Smith?
Leaning not on your own understanding discussion with Landon: doesn’t God have a way of reminding you of these truths as you are teaching them to your children? Sometimes the very thing I’m struggling to trust God with is what I find myself teaching my son...
Hi! I am a new subscriber, and I have been watching so many of your videos. They’re so good! I have a 12 month old who I am wanting to homeschool, I’m sure we will be judged for choosing this route from our family and friends so it’s encouraging to see other moms homeschooling so well. I know my baby is still so young, but I am wondering if you have any resources or recommendations to start teaching a young toddler. Thanks in advance ☺️
So many questions...since the Year 1 History doesnt have a book pack (which I kinda want) is it fine to just buy Year 2 and start there? I've never considered TGTB for History but I love the LA so it's worth a look. We liked Masterbooks this year but it was way too basic. I'm guessing the audio clips relate to what you're studying? How long are those clips? My house is loud-with daycare kids so I don't want anything too long. Do you like the books that you've read so far for the Years you've used? How many pgs would you guess are in the student explorers so I can kinda figure how many sheets I'm gonna have to print to begin with? Thank you for this great video!
I know this is an old video but I’m hoping you might still be able to answer my question. I’m wondering if this curriculum would work for Canadians, or if it is just too focused on USA to really work? I think it’s important for us to learn about our neighbours so I don’t mind some US history and just supplement with Canadian history but I don’t think it would be helpful if the main focus is US, it would be too much work for me to balance that out.
I know your daughter is a little older but I'm not sure how old. Wondering if you are using this or planning to use it for high school and if so, how do you plan to get a credit that counts as each of the histories most colleges look for (world history, u.s. history, u.s. government) if it is all mixed together.
Was trying to find your video where u talked about the spring 🐝🐛unit study from ur friend... I just clicked on 1 of of ur videos since I didn't see it.Is it still available?
Starting History with The Good and The Beautiful this coming year for my 9th and 4th grader. Dumb question.... maybe.... do you think it would be okay to start them both on level one?
Has anyone else found it almost impossible to purchase a TGATB curriculum? I see so many YT videos about the product, but then it's always sold out or "for future release" Is it just me? Lol 😅
Something to help you is to buy in off season. When school starts back or when it gets closer to school time it sells out faster. If you can purchase in the off season like January and February your more likely to find what you need. ❤ just a thought to try and help.
Also try and add to cart and see what happens! I emailed about the nature journal being sold out and they said it was in stock. I emailed again saying it showed it wasn’t and it ended up being an issue with mobile browsers but you could still add to cart. It’s fixed now but it’s worth trying with others just in case! ☺️

Can you make a video of what history read alouds you’ve done and recommend

Thanks for mentioning that you don't necessarily read all the read alouds with TG&TB history! I appreciate that so much!
Also...your opinion...say we jumped into year 3 without doing year one or two...good or bad idea?! Your honest opinion having used all 3 years!
Hahah yes! Mama can only read so much!
Also thank you, I love to see people teaching their children about indigenous tribes. I am Diné! That's why my name is Shandiin! (Sunshine/ sunbeam)

Yes very important knowledge for them to learn!
You said “circle back.” 😂😂😂

Loved being a part of this lesson!! Your children are SOOOO well behaved and they all participate so well!! You are blessed!
I just used it for the first time with my ninth grader this year, and the explorers and the extra projects that go along with their age group are so wonderful that I will continue throughout her high school. I think you will love it!
Thankyou!!!
We just finished TGATB history year 1. I love the history. My daughter loved hearing about so many woman in history.
Just received ours yesterday, switching to TGTB history next school year, hope it fits all my boys well!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Keep these videos coming💜 You’ve encouraged me so much with my homeschooling journey.

I am so glad to see someone else struggle to say some of these name. 😆 thank you so much for this video and not editing that out!!
I try to be as real as possible. ❤️
Oooo I've been waiting for a video like this!! Also, love the basket wall decor. 🤗
Thankyou!

Wait??? Did I miss how lacross fits in??
This is so cool! I found myself answering your questions. Ha! 🙋
It is so helpful seeing how you teach your kids.
We used tgtb for language arts this year. I just ordered history year 3 and 2 science unit studies for when we finish up what we are using. We school year round so we finish things up at random times.
As always, thank you for inspiring us all.

hi! We LOVE TGAB for 2 years now, so it's so great to see how you use this long term. We just started History 1 and we LOVE IT! I was wondering how/when do you teach the 50 states?
I'm from east Tennessee. We live about two hours from the Cherokee village and about 20 minutes from the Davey Crockett birthplace.
Really enjoyed the full lesson! Thanks for sharing.
Do you have different rolling crates for different subjects? Could you show us what you keep on them?
Also, where did you get the pencil/sissors holder that was on your table?
Thank you for sharing. We got history 1 but I felt overwhelmed by it. This really helped.

The French names always trip me up during readings too, Fort Duquesne is pronounced “doo-cane” and I always have to look it up to double check.
Ya, I don’t stress too much over that kinda stuff.
Great video! Unrelated question- where do you find all of your cute tie-dyed shirts? I love them!
Haha thankyou! This one is from peloton
Such a great video thank you so much for sharing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great video. I'd be curious to know if using TGATB history for highschool will give the credits that the kids need. I know each state is different.

“Cheeriokee” made me chuckle 😊
hahah me too! glad it wasnt "offensive" :)
Starting History with The Good and The Beautiful this coming year for my 9th and 4th grader. Dumb question.... maybe.... do you think it would be okay to start them both on level one?
Yes, there's no reason you cant start level 1 :)
what about geography? is it all rolled in?
all together! Tons of map work, also apart of our LA
Has anyone else found it almost impossible to purchase a TGATB curriculum? I see so many YT videos about the product, but then it's always sold out or "for future release"

Things sell out quickly! They have been trying so hard to keep up with demand. Hang in there!

Sign up for texts, they informed me when history came back in stock
Helped me anyhow
