    I can’t believe I’m an RN now! 🥰🥰 thank you Sarah, you have gotten me through nursing school. I passed NCLEX in 75 questions on the first try. In one week, I will be working in the OR as a new grad nurse and I am excited and scared to death. Thank you so much!! You have been with me the WHOLE ride 🥲

    Thank you so much again Sarah! You helped me so much during school and now that it's official, I'm turning to you once again. I'm still in orientation and have been struggling. Part of it is due to having multiple preceptors and very little consistency which on one hand, like you said, is good but it's been tough, too, though I've been fortunate in that people have been very helpful and encouraging. Just hearing that my frustration/ anxiety with that (and everything else!) is normal gives me that boost of hope that I need. I took a break from looking up tips/advice/education, etc after graduating as you well know, we need that mental break. Now, here I am again and so grateful that your 'working as a new nurse' videos are here for us. I so appreciate all your (and your teams) work putting all this info together from getting through school and moving forward to the reality of nursing! Can't thank you enough!

    The feelings of not having it together is so true. I have two more days of orientation and I'm slightly terrified. My last shift had me almost in tears. I had 6 patients and 4 out of 6 were having changes. I literally felt pulled in so many directions. My handoff report was terrible ,I had an awful headache by the end, and was behind in charting. Didn't eat either. It was just a bad night lol

    I love the advice you give and all your lecture videos, I just recently graduated from nursing school as an LPN 2 weeks ago and got a job as a correctional nurse. Prior to being an LPN i was a CNA for about 4 years, i was used to reporting to the RN and being dependent on them to tell me what to do, now I share some of those delegation decisions with them and the thought of it going into the field as a brand new LPN scared me. Especially when it came to making decisions in regards to giving medications, this video helped me realized that I am not the only one experiencing these feelings. Thank you so much!

    Hello,
    I need help understanding how new nurses navagate the job market.I have a question about where new nursing grads can work. I have done research that says that working at a hospital is the best for new nurses because they can get clinical experience. Although, I also read that it is really hard for new nursing grads to get a job at a hospital. I also heard that geting a job at clinics/doctors office are hard to get. I dont even want a job at a hospital tho. I would prefer clinic jobs with a slower pace. but I do want the clinical experience. I was thinking about nursing homes, home-health care and maybe dylasis stuff. I am so confuseded please help!

    this is a really good video you have here ! I'm a new Rn myself , i hope the things to say in the video would be able to help me overcome my fear and stress at work . I'm a 3 month old new RN from Singapore . having trouble coping will taking report and passing my report . i tend to get question by the nurses on a lot of things for the patient but i don't know how to answer ,would you be able to give my some advise on what i should ask and know about a patient when taking report . I also have a preceptor that i have not been working in 1 month plus time and i have no idea who i can go to when i need help and no body were really there to guide me .

    • @RegisteredNurseRN
      @RegisteredNurseRN  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Mabel :) Thank you very much for your kind words, and I'm glad you liked the video! First of all, I just want to say that how you are feeling as a new RN is very natural. When I was a new nurse I struggled with the same things but, overtime as I gained experience, I got better. So, hang in there...all of us new nurses go through the same thing...some nurses are just brave enough to say it. Nursing report is tough at first, and I can relate with what you are saying about the questions you get asked. I actually have a video on how to give and receive nursing report that may help you out as a new nurse. The video is here: ruclips.net/video/X76iKFQhPNw/видео.html
      I go into detail on the things you are asked during report and how to start your day off good. Some tips I can give you about getting asked questions is to be prepared for the type of questions you will be asked....because they tend to be the same questions over and over. For example, what tests are they going for today? What doctor is on call for this? Or what was their potassium level? etc. Also, get very familiar with the patient's chart and know how to find that information fast. I also have a video on how to make sense of a patient's chart, if you are interested in making sense of that as well: ruclips.net/video/lNwRvKaNsGc/видео.html
      I hope helps and best wishes :) P.S. Very awesome to have a fellow nurse from Singapore watching my video :)
