Yes you called it right the little girl playing the young Natasha is Milla Jocovich's daughter I loved this film too especially Scarlet Joannson and Florence Pugh they were both great together.
I liked that Alexei has the name of his two "daughters" tatooed on his right arm. People who know the cyrillic alphabet have an advanced glimpse of what he really felt for them.
If you watch the original Avengers and pay attention to the Loki/Widow interrogation scene, Loki says, "CAN you wipe out that much red? Dreykov's daughter? Barton told me everything."
The plot of Black Widow revolves around a throwaway line from a movie from over ten years ago.
The opening credits with that song is so dark. By far the best intro in the MCU.

@@drummerboy2834 i know that scene. But her and Pietro chose to side with the Avengers and help civilians during the train scene with Cap. They even went back to Avengers tower and grabbed clothes from their storage.
Clint only gave her an encouragement speech but Wanda already sided with them long before that.

I loved Black Widow. Definitely in the top tier of MCU films for me. I've seen it a few times in the theater, and I plan on seeing it in theater at least once more

My rule for any movie is did I enjoy it, was I entertained, was it engaging. Many Marvel comic fans did not like this movie because of the change of Taskmaster but I am to the point now with the MCU is that this is a completely different story and every character has been changed to fit the movie narrative instead of the years of comics storylines. It fit here for me. The problems I had with this movie is that it was 10 years too late and this should be a sequel to a Black Widow origin story. Other than that I liked it.
@JSB Comic fans are a little more diverse than you give them credit for. One of the major faults with comics since silver age comics to modern age stories was that it was meant to push comics to one consumer group. Mostly age 8 to 20 males. Characters between 1930 to the mid 1950 were mostly one race and one sex with a few exceptions. The 60s began when Marvel and DC changed tracks and Marvel try to bring in stories that were closer to what was going on in America. It wasn't until the 90s did you start to see female and non white writers introduced into comic stories. The 80s began to see stories that were darker and making fun of the normal comic trope. The modern age has turned those original directions on their heads.
Disney and the MCU has done what any company in entertainment has done. They make money. The MCU has been slow to challenge anything but now they have shown they can make money on these non traditional stories and rules of movie making. So here we have decades of intellectual property with various storylines. To make it make a little more sense and to bring in new faces to spend money at the theater some changes are made to he story. Gender, race and sexuality roles can now be explored that were normally edited out of stories because comics could not sale otherwise. Take time to research the comic code days. Characters were rejected or changed because of race or gender because the comic code people said we don't want to show a black face or female in that position. Today we just don't care so all these old characters are now fair game to change 100%. In the end it is about new sources of revenue and a more diverse creative team.
If you don't like it then don't watch. Yes COVID is a cause of bad movie revenues. No movie in the past 2 years has come close to 500 million at the box office. In its 2nd week Black Widow is the highest grossing box office of the year. I think there is enough fandom to let the MCU and Disney do whatever the market demands. If you want to make a social experiment out of it look at how woman and men have reacted to this movie and more. You have a rant but its not based on what is good to expand the market. The movie was good. I just don't have an issue with it. Comic fans are going to have to grow up and realize there are other people in the world now.

Yeah, my only problem with it, is that they should have started sooner and made a trilogy.

Personally, I don't get why this movie has received so much hate. It's a great flick, a great marvel flick and I liked it better than Captain Marvel. My guess is that it has a very strong female lead & mostly all the main characters are female. It's in season to be all anti-SJW/woke/whatever and hate anything with strong female characters (The New Netflix He-Man Reboot for example).
I loved your commentary and I agree with you; I need to be emotionally invested an a character or characters to really enjoy a movie, and I really enjoyed this movie despite all the negative responses from other people. In fact I always enjoy re-watching it, which is why I am watching your reaction on this video. By the way, you look hot in your Natasha outfit!

I LOVE this movie for so many reasons. I am basically Yelena. People who say it’s a “solid 5 out of 10” are the lucky few who had a “normal” childhood. Also, that is actually Milla Jovovichs daughter so you are spot on.

That post-credit scene was a nice setup for the Hawkeye series. Really looking forward to seeing more of Yelena in the MCU. Wouldn't it be awesome if she created a team of former black widows? No idea if that ever happened in the comics, but I would LOVE a black widow squad movie or TV series
In the Marvel comic book continuity (1990), a young child Natasha meets Captain America and Logan (pre-Wolverine) in Madripoor during the summer of 1941, and it gives the impression that she may be closely related to the Romanov royal family.
The vest Yelena gives Natasha is what she wears in Infinity War.
Scarlett johanssen is actually sue-ing Disney over this. Her contract had an exclusive cinema release, and her pay was tied to that. She’s not happy about the Disney+ streaming release cutting into that.

Why are reactors confused about Yelena and Natasha fighting? They both don't trust each other because Widows are brainwashed. For all they know maybe Dreykov sent one of them.
i know, rite? they're both fugitive elite assassins who never know who's coming for them, so their paranoia's perfectly reasonable. also too, the fight scene establishes that they're equals -- neither sister is inferior in skill. however, the car chase demonstrates yelena's edge in sheer ruthlessness, something nat could no longer indulge in as a member of the avengers.

I saw this a few weeks ago in Screen X. They basically use the walls on either side of the auditorium as screens. It was "ok", but I'd like to see a movie like Matrix 4 or John Wick 4 really take advantage of it.

I didn't even know that until today. Disney's been doing some pretty crappy things to people. I'll have to read up on exactly what they did to her to understand why her attorneys would not have negotiated this right up front. That doesn't make any sense.
@@KazzyCreates Movies weren't being released simultaneously online and in the theatre until COVID was well underway and this movie was already done filming. The very NOTION of that kind of release would have been unheard of when they negotiated her fees. It's a safe bet that kind of clause will be in any future contracts.
I'm pretty sure that when the contract for this was signed, Disney+ hadn't even been announced and even if it had, there would have been no plans for a simultaneous release. If there had, I'm pretty sure a different contract would have been negotiated. I'm also glad to see that Kevin Feige is (reportedly) furious at Disney as well over how they've handled this. It's easy to forget that this movie was originally planned to be released (exclusively in Cinemas) back in May 2020, but was repeatedly delayed before they finally settled on the dual release.

Taskmaster is a famous character with mimicking capabilities. That's why you thought he was a doppelganger. I heard a criticism of what they did with Taskmaster in this movie and it's disturbingly accurate: That they basically did the exact same thing to him as they did with Deadpool in X-men: Origins Wolverine.
