We're already in serious danger. The overall "good cops" aren't able to perform routine stops anymore without fear of being persecuted, so many killers are slipping through because of this. Crime stats are out of control, we're screwed!

Glad to hear he was convicted, but not the mediocre charge. It is insane that our military has their own set of laws that hold them to a higher standard than civilians(UCMJ), yet nothing exist for law enforcement. They are held to a lower standard than the community they serve.
Because the local gov. knows if the laws were too change they too would be held accountable.

In some places in the Caribbean a police officer getting charged (not convicted) automatically means they're fired from the police department. If they're later found not guilty they get back their job and back pay. Imagine getting charged and still being on the job months or years later.
In civilized countries if a cop is found guilty of a crime he automatically loses his job. That's how it in Jamaica. We are a civilized society. It would be too much to expect that of the U.S!

I don't believe that chief's explanation for one second about his previous conclusion, that the officer acted in good faith when seeing his fellow officer, a Black man with a large amount of money. I believe the chief, after getting his promotion decided to speak the truth now, because he got his promotion. Speaking the truth sooner would have gotten in the way of his promotion.
