I'm a 42 year old web developer; married with 4 kids living on a farm and I love this stuff. Thanks so much for putting this online. Talk about calling... I wonder if I missed mine. At least I can come here and soak it all up.
What a great interview! I've never really been a fan of Alex's production for some reason but this gives me a newfound respect and admiration...his production discography is certainly no joke!!
Hahahaa Alex is too humble, makes it look/sound easy but when you listen to his productions you can hear there's a lot more to him than the simple answers he's giving. I don't know why but I laughed a lot in this episode ..Dave a couple of times even forgot what he wanted to ask! Anyway this was a great episode and I hope Alex doesn't end up in the business side of things too much cos then we'd miss out on great music. Excellent episode guys, keep up the good work!
Love the questions on this episode dave! Great questions.... restricting/narrowing, choosing patches, process from soccer to now, solving problems. Very helpful.
Makes me feel like Im doing something right..HA! Thanks Dave!! I use this approach on every track when i start a mix.. I tend to start out with nothing on the inserts.. as i pull up tracks to let the music tell me the balance... I use this process on every track just on the low roll off nothing else no mids no highs nothing just roll off then everything else follows.. and depending on the eq characteristics i insert it adds color just that simple.. I learn so much from you..
awesome stuff! although I dont get how people are still saying that about dance music. he must not listen to much. THere is and will always be "real songs" in dance music.. Structure is just different.
