I love the face of the car. Quite intimidating when you see those fang-lights in the rear view mirror. Also the alloy wheels. Very unique. Definitely wouldn't see that on a German car.
Another well presented and edited video Tish. I quite like the modern almost futuristic look of the car and it has most of the stuff that I would want. There are a few niggles though. My main gripe would be that lack of rear wiper. If it had a rear camera that should ideally would also have a camera washer (some of the VW group cars have this that operates as part of the rear screen wash and wipe)). Although it does not have the physical climate controls it's still a pain to go through the screen as you need to take your eyes off the road. OK it's a lot better than others but it's annoying that an increasing number of vendors are forcing us to go that route if we want a new car. As for the competition I think this car does very well.... apart from that missing rear wiper... it's not the only recent car to have neglected to keep this very useful feature though..... Thanks for sharing Tish, great work.
If you can love with a 1.2 litre base model you can have them very cheap on finance at the moment. I don't think a 1.2 in a car this size is even feasible but if you just use it for a town car. Less than 200 a month is a bargain.
I learned to drive in a Peugeot, passed my test in a 206, laughed my arse off when my mum called Peugeot cars Poogots... she honestly did bless her, a poogot!!! but never owned a French produced car, even though my favourite car (classic) is a Citroen 2CV, I was never overly enamoured by the looks of any Peugeot, they just looked so boring, with the aforementioned 206 looking extremely camp, if a car can look camp, which I think the 206 is. Thankfully the new design language is working for Peugeot now, its identity is stronger now than its ever been, it seems the company actually does have a decent focus now. Another top review Tish, keep em coming! ❤❤❤
Really like the look of this car but feel the engine is a tad underpowered -needs a 2.0Ltr petrol with the electric (be nice to see a port version with more power)
That looks incredible! All new pugs looks really good. But I still love my 308 GTi BPS which I own for nearly 6 years not a single issue 🙏 Peugeot really stepped up in game with their new cars
Peugeot has been making top cars since 2014-2015, 9 years already, it's time to catch up. On the continent, they are regarded as mid premium, and they are going full premium. On same level of quality as German car makers. I find it so utterly, utterly stupid to say "but but Peugeot in the 90's, etc..." Things change. Brands evolve. Peugeot has levelled up big time. This is 2023. No longer the 90's.
Cars seem to be changing, but nothing else seems to be as radical as a Peugeot car. I've just read the new Clio is going to start at £22,000, I can't remember the last time I saw a new Clio. I think cars will become a PCP throw away item just like a mobile phone and many of your mainstream manufacturers are going to disappear because people aren't going to pay £32,000 for a base Peugeot 408. Love your video, but Peugeot have got this massively wrong.
WOW ! The French designs are always good looking, I think I'm looking at a "Puegeot C4"😉 By the way, best looking clothing style going along with both the car style & colour.💥
Went car shopping yesterday to replace my 2020 7 seater skoda kodiaq. So off i went to kia and peugeot test drove the 408 allure premium love the looks the styling such a good looking car with all the angles. Sorry kia the pug beat ya on this one. 8 week wait needs hurry up now.
A beautiful car from Stellantis. The interior is great as always. However, the 40mile battery range is a let down. I would love the full Electric; cannot wait.
A lovely car, think this is the best looking Peugeot since the 407 coupe which I loved.....but is it good enough to make the leap from my PHEV S60 which sits too low for me....need to test drive methinks.
I do so wish Stellantis will bring Peugeots to the USA. Yes, it has had a rocky road here as far as reliability goes, but they could use the Chrysler name? 40 miles on EV mode is good and useful as a daily commuter. I agree that rear bumper is a "a bit big".
I Have the 308sw 225 hybrid and I was quoted 40 miles on the battery too. best I have ever got was 18 miles. the 40 mile claim is simply impossible to meet. it's great as a hybrid option but I wouldn't be surprised if Peugeot got into trouble for lying akin to Volkswagen with their emissions
@@AutoSocialUK I look forward to your constructive criticisms. I’m interested to know how good rear seat room is especially getting feet under front seats. Thanks
I have a Peugeot 2008 130 HP and are very happy with it. But in a year I will lease a new car and I not sure, I like the look of the 408, but I want petrol car and 130 HP to this car is not good enough. So Im looking at other options, but I would love to lease this car with more HP in a petrol version.
Great design but can’t get away with back end of it. Just too big. Perhaps better in real life?!? However , definitely like they have addressed the air con issue by having a fav temperature shortcut… that will make it less fiddly. Great review as always.👏
As sad as this sounds mg have a new mg 7 out in china its a stunning looking car its a pity there not bringing it to britain and ireland it would blow this car away
For some reason, Peugeot isn't very popular in the Caribbean. We had a Peugeot car dealership company in Trinidad way back then, but it got shut down in a hurry bcuz nobody was buying those cars. This car does look promising though. I hope it does well in terms of sales.
Because people live in the past. Still think that Peugeot is the same brand than 30 years ago. I live in western Europe, here Peugeot is regarded as mid premium, going premium.
Seen a bland fire engine red one on motorway, was a nothing car, this in obsession blue is altogether a different car, epic design for a mainstream car, reminds me when the C-HR Toyota came out, radical cool design

The 408 looks fantastic. However, there is one coupe SUV that I think we need in Europe, which is GWM’s Haval H6 GT. It comes with a 204hp 2-litre turbo engine with AWD, and will do 0-62 in 7.5 seconds. It’s 4cm longer than the Peugeot 408. The H6 GT is built in China, which isn’t necessary a bad thing, but it offers so much equipment for the equivalent of £32,000, including a 360° camera and a wireless charging pad which you have to pay for in the Peugeot 408, even if you go for the GT version.
Still not sold on the interior - the iCockpit is very marmite, and the small wheel looks odd. Peugeot have stepped up things in quality though, but so they should for the asking price. Cars are just getting stupidly expensive now - you only have to have a sniff of a battery in a car these days and the price skyrockets. You still have the same problem with the hybrid small battery - you'll run out of juice very quickly and likely be having to top it up every single day.
hi there i love the lookof the new 408 but at that price its another car i canot afford s magain when will the eally cheap cars aRRIVE THATS W\T I WANT TO KNOW THANK YOU
Hey Phillip, I know these cars are really unobtainable for so many of us. Unfortunately, many brands do not have cheap cars anymore and the cost for brands to come across from China pushes the price of even the cheapest cars up.
How do you see the speed o meter with that flat steering at the top? The dashboard looks like the one from Knight Rider,is K.I.T.T gonna say hello? The exterior design is not attractive at all, the best part of the car is the sporty seats. No it's not my cup of tea.
I am not a Peugeot fan but that new 408 is a stunning design. Peugeot has made some of the prettiest cars (205 GTI ) and some of the ugliest cars, 207, 3008 etc. Its great to see a European manufacturer being as bold as Hyundai who have been leading the edgy styling trend over the last couple of years. Its not for me, it needs a bigger engine to make it attractive.

I think the wheels look too big and them allloys are very dull. The rear bumper looks like it was an afterthought and the car itself looks too long but otherwise fair play to Peugeot.
Lamborghini has a 4.0 v8 twin turbo. Peugeot has a 1.2 3cyl. Anyone see the problem? Yes the Lamborghini is heavier but that is severely underpowered. That engine is meant for a kei car sized vehicle not a large suv. It’s going to have to rev its guts out to move the weight. Over time the engine MUST fail through overwork and sheer wear. It doesn’t need a twin turbo v8 but seriously?
@@AutoSocialUK both are “just another suv”. I’m talking about the pug being severely underpowered for it’s weight meaning the engine will not last.
