I just got honest with myself. I decided I don't care what people say I like the Klipsch sound. I bought a set of Cornwall IVs and never looked back.I am a very happy guy now. 😊
Very good video and very on point. When we're in analysis mode we've stopped absorbing the music and have begun to think more about the details of what we heard a second, two seconds or however long ago and what was there, or was NOT there, or how it may have been distorted or whatever we're thinking about. We're no longer in the moment and to fully enjoy music we have to be 'in the moment'. Right on Mikey!
Hi Mikey! Love this kinda topics. It's a reminder to just enjoy music. For me it's difficult when listening to some bad sounding rock albums. I want to like them, but it's really distracting. It's weird that my car rig sounds better with those kinda music. Maybe it's the near field experience being in the car. What would you recommend? Keep it up
Good message! AudiogoN Jay, aka: The Suncoast Shill Seller, claims to currently be suffering from what most definitely presents as Analysis Paralysis. I know he stalks your content, then attempts to mimic an audiophile who knows stuff. Let's hope this one gets through to the boy, and provides a much needed tonic!
Analysis by paralysis is one thing but the way this dude just articulated the divinity of the human creation of music n the listening experience and nuances of such as compared to art n hi end system palettes n colors n air n experience just floored me.. never heard it stated so effin well!! Well done sir.. thank you for that..
Mikey, Losing ones self in the Music is the Mind Candy of Escapism from the Doldrums of Life! That is never a drag into paralysis! Freebird on Fire! ✌️
Hello Mike...I see that last year you met Anne Bisson at a show and I saw the video you posted, WOW man that's awesome we here in Canada are extremely proud of her she is world known and a class act I hope some day I can meet her as well, Merry Christmas Mike
I really like your short morning videos, Mikey! Great topics! I like to listen to at least a whole side of an album if not the whole album. I greatly enjoy picking an album out of my discography and gently placing it on the TT and relaxing in the sweet spot. When I stream, a lot of times I start with a play list and then listen to what Audirvana selects. Many times my wife finds me asleep and wonders how I can be sleeping when the music is relatively loud? It's because I'm enjoying it so much and I want to hang on for one more song but end up falling asleep. I hope you and Jo have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Good point about playing others music. I find that many times when playing my wife’s preference of Madonna or Simple Minds, it’s in those moments of hearing unfamiliar or out-of-my-lane music when you hear just how good your system sounds.
Hi Mikey Another great video. Goes hand in hand with your video of listening like you have a $1,000,000 system. While a good or great system helps it’s engaging in the music. I remember my 1st system (Sansui amp, KLH speakers and Phillips turntable) we had so much fun listening to album after album. BTW that was in 1974 yikes lol. Take Care, Bill
I listen to music on my mid-fi rig and I take details that jump out at me as a gift. I'm actually pretty damn content with my little rig... I hope that you all have a great Christmas! 🇺🇸✌️
Morning everyone again 😁 my daughter comes to any demos she love listening to classical and pop music and sorry I'm not a classical fan yeah there are some cool stuff but not my cuppa tea, when we go to Glasgow in tropical Scotland ( a 3 legged haggis running sideways tried to steal our coats because its that warm here 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ) we stop at people playing in the street to listen and give her some idea of what a real guitar sounds like etc Caledonia is her favourite just look them up, they play drums bagpipes etc, we took her to the ballet, she liked it and the live orchestra playing, I love it because its my daughter hopefully taking on the reins, hence the my record collection and hifi will be passed down and enjoyed long after I'm gone 😁 music is what's its all about the hifi system brings us a bit closer to the real thing its a tool 😁 anyway enough of my dribbling 😁 Merry Christmas and a happy new year when it arrives everyone 🎅🤶🎅🤶
Great advice there, Mikey. I could listen to this all day. You really should just be able to turn your rig on and get lost in the music. If that's not happening, you've either got to work on your rig or work on yourself to stop analysing. Happy holidays brother take care.🎧👍🙂
Without even watching I will guess at least part of what you will say is quit looking at so many reviews on line, in magazines or elsewhere...and just let the 11stereo guy or whatever handle it all.
Music FIRST....ALWAYS :-) Couldn't agree more Mikey! Hey, once in a while I'll get off on a great song on my car's radio then . . . playing the same cut at home . . .frankly, sometimes kinda anti-climatic :-) Nice gear is nice but circumstances, place and timing can influence our likes, tastes and impressions too.
This also applies to older buyers trying to get back into hi fi. The worst for me is the endless flow of new dacs from $100 to $$$$$$. Last stereo equipment i bought the dac was part of new cd player. 🤔
Analysis paralysis is useful for deciding whether a new component is an improvement on the sound or not. Or to get speaker placement and tilt right. But indeed after that, music is there to enjoy!
@@OCDHIFiGuy Btw I use your parameters to select components by sorting them into "must haves". E,g, for me a speaker "must" have good soundstage, an amp "must" have good dynamics, a dac "must" have rich tonality and a source "must" have good detail.
Great video Micky it all makes sense what you say the biggest up grade I’ve ever made even more than buying a 4500 pound cartridge buying a 600 pound fuse (master fuse) I’m in Uk not sure you use fuses in us if you do check it out for all your followers unbelievable dose not make sense but it works all the best for new year ian 👍
Audiophiles suffer from permanent audio paralysis. They spend huge sums of money on new systems as they come out as they get bored very quickly with what they have. They sit in their couch with their smart phones, tablets and flick through songs all day. Sleeping in bed at night, their fingers keep flicking.
Always great Advice Mikey. Merry Christmas mate. People who have only seven Patricia Barber albums and insanely tweak are missing out big time. After a while you just know whether you like the sound of a system or not. Sure we have our go to tracks but the idea like you say is to keep exploring. Two artists or recent times I really like are Fanny Lumsden Australian country singer. Caroline Polachek is another. Her voice is great and her backing band and production are fantastic. I love artists I've heard in small venues live. Australian singer Robyne Dunn and Virna Sanzone are my go reference artists for voices. Have had the privilege to hear these ladies off mic....being very close to the stage etc. I remember when I went to CES in Vegas 2003 there were ten Vpi turntables playing Norah Jones....yeah I am a fan but it was overload then. Another Australian group is The Idea Of North...complex harmony etc. Love your descriptions Mikey. Top vid 5 stars out of 5.
I have. Excellent example of over the line design IMHO. Obsessive Compulsive Design.... I applaud her for being herself and doing what she wants however.
Nice haircut. My system is 15 years old, and it gives me hours and hours of listening pleasure. I rather spend my money on CD's and records rather than the latest overpriced and over hyped gear.
I set up. Then i listen. But i know Ive put together other rigs and lets face it some recordings may sound better on another rig. Gotta disagree. Not anxiety just the way I LISTEN.
Never want to hear Diana Krall again in a hifi system. Should be banned like playing stairway to heaven at a guitar store.
Diane and Tony is a really good album.

Great work, Mikey - I'll just add two things: 1) Not all music is mastered equally. 2) Don't get addicted to 'audiophile music' . Merry christmas.
There you go !
Agreed.. Even old mono can sound great. You've just got to accept what it is and see into the music.

Mikey confessing that when he closes his eyes he sees the wood, the actual wood❤
I can smell it too.
We're with you Mikey!!! All the way.

Totally agree. Analysis when new equipment is added to see what it does is necessary. After that it's time to get into the groove!
Thank you

Glad you enjoyed!

Hey Mikey, another great MAS! I’m wondering if RUclips sent you a nice monetization check. I had to scroll through 15 click ads to watch your video.
Lol. Not my idea of "monetize"..
Peppermint, blue spruce, balsm fir in a atomizing nebulizer. The atoms blend with the music. Inside my mind this is transformational.
Good Points!!!

For sure... Barry White is always best in the sack !!
@@OCDHIFiGuy LOL !! You bet !
The only way to loose paralysis is going to a unamplified concert.
Good video ❤ when you talk softer Moore people Will listennig to you mike 🙏 best regards from Sweden
Turn your volume down !!
Meery Christmas, Mikey. I think in 2024 we should start calling members of the hifi tribe "Dinks".
How does that make sense ?
@@OCDHIFiGuy It doesn't but it was a great word you coined in this video and it cracked me up 😁 It's a good in-joke for the tribe 🤙🏾🤙🏾

Morning tribe and everyone else uk time 😁 I want to take this opportunity to say Merry Christmas and a happy new year when it arrives everyone 🎅🤶🎅🤶🎅🤶
What do you mean by, bring in the kids even if they want to listen to Barney? I use Barney to set up my system.😲

😂 so wrong but funny people think this
“Thanks to you” I am listening to my system a minimum of 1.5 hours because one song/album flows into another
Master class in how to listen to your system.
Lately, I’m always changing my cables. I’m going to get out of my analysis paralysis after one more week.
Lol. It can be fun to learn.. just don't get stuck !
case in point...just enjoy the music...i haveapractical mid fi system...i still like analog better, as allways
