Nothing like a screaming AP1 S2000 on track. Get them while you still can find clean ones. Honda will never bring back a naturally aspirated S2000 again.
trackdays at smaller courses like this always seem like fun, reminds me of when i watched my friends go out to thunderhill. also that e46 at 6:01 sounds GODLY
Re: diff issues Consider an AP2 rear sway bar. My ap1 bar caused my inside wheel to lift under load, stressing the torsen and slowing eating away at the diff. Just switched to an ap2 bar and new diff and the car feels so much better.
I'm going to try disconnecting the sway bar for the next track day and see how it goes. Then maybe will go to an AP2 bar or NC Miata bar. That inside wheel lifting is the problem!
@@TheTopher this is the way. I went with the ‘04 bar because I didn’t want to turn the car into an understeer fest. In my case (square setup, -3 camber F/R, karcepts front sway, ohlins 10k/10k) the new ap2 bar feels perfect 🤩 I suspect if you were able to get front camber into the -2s, you wouldn’t lose too much neutrality
@@TheTopher wait why are you running 205 tires??? isnt that LESS than stock even an 8th gen si has like 225's if its to save money and stretch them i guess it makes sense O_O
I just bought a wavetrac to replace my OEM helical diff. Was having the same problem putting power down leaving corners. If you don't want to deal with LSD clutch pack maintenance I definitely recommend the wavetrac.
Might not be a diff issue from what you mentioned. S2k's come with Clutch type LSD's so they're really good at locking up. Might be just the driving dynamics with front mid engine + no sway bar so a lot of snap oversteer.
What do I look up or google to find out about public events where I can pay to drive on tracks like this? I got a bone stick 1998 Lexus GS300 that I want to take out on a track an time my best time an feel it out before I start lowering it an completely overhaul the suspension with Megan Racing to handle better next spring to track my time again an get a better feel for it? Eventually I’ll boost it I just want to make it handle better for now because I decided to sell my other daily an make this GS my daily bc I love driving it so much… Until I get my Land Cruiser or 4 Runner I won’t boost it…
Can you buy extended lower balljoints for these ? Did that on the Miata back in the days to get the camber where I wanted it (-3.5). Looks like a shorter final drive would definitely be a nice thing if you ever change the diff as well !
Oh and I just noticed, because of the 6.5" up front it might take a little longer to set into its grip more at the front, vs the rear. Cars needs some 8" or 9" for sure ! Squared would be fine then :)
4:10 final drive. You got to pay to play. Also a stock rear diff In an S2k should not feel like an open diff. There's definitely a problem with the rear end, if it's not locking up.
This was fun.
A nice small local raceway and an AP1, there are few better days than that.
True that!
I like those cars but can you pls record the 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum
Agreed
Wow that track looks like a blast, it’s like touge! I miss my s2000, still waiting for my differential to get rebuilt.

Balls to the wall.. fair play my brother. For the VTEC of it. Tremendous
9:08 That's a new certified Topher moment right there

Getting spoiled with videos this week!
Damn dude if life wasn’t so expensive I would definitely get an S2000. Great videos Topher, maybe in the future…
love the s2000 videos, nice to see you enjoy this car so much. great taste

Man you're a good driver, this looks like so much fun
Man, I miss my 04. Lovely car and excellent skills bro
that induction noise is orgasmic
I want one so badly, looks like the most fun you can have with a 6 speed manual up to 9K RPMS!
Man you can drive ❤

Best car of the last 2 decades.
I recommend you to install the oil baffle for track use
Wow, they let you out there with no rollbar!
I live less then 30 mins from this track!
track looks like it needs to be redone. to much patching.
I’m sure they wouldn’t mind you paying for that.
Shit! That looks REALLY fun!

hes running 205's wtf
I gotta get an AP1 to go next to my Veloster N
When are you adding NOS and a turbo?
HARRY I NEED NOS!
I'm genuinely curious how you became a car test driver I'm interested into this career field

tuah!!!!
Please brother, stop this madness please
get out of my head get out of my head get out of my HEAD
Lift off oversteer is usually not a car problem but a driver one 😅
😮 you’re at grattan. Grattan is local to me. Where are you normally based out of?

Fellow michigan guy here, i would love to take one of my preludes there. What are the prices?

Hey! Just curious, what cars do you have? What do you main?
Put some NOS in there! Lol
Your last 3 videos are all about electric vehicles. I'm scared!
Will an ap2 have better handling?
I was surprised that the S2000 doesn't really get good mileage. What is it, 16 in the city or something?

@@chriszaiser 4.10 sounds short and is on most vehicles not AP1 go 120 mph in 4th gear
V8 E46? race car?
Just curious how much oil you burned during this day, if any?
About half a quart
Where’s the co-owner?
BF stayed home 😉
He was working, was hoping we could get out together!
