I used to work at a AMC, Jeep, Renault dealership, and when the Grand Wagoneer showed up it was always a special thing. I wished I made enough money at the time to afford one. Kevin, you’ve got a great truck. Thanks for sharing the photos too.
One thing I adore about your videos is how you guys provide footage of vehicles in motion in different angles. Something nearly every other channel fails to do. Otherwise I'm digging the Wagoneer, but I wish it looked as good as the concept.
The interior and feature set are unparalleled on the new Grand Wagoneer. It is also using a very rigid truck platform with off-road ruggedness, selectable air suspension and running boards that are extremely useful and seamlessly executed. Power is old school but proven and not artificially goosed up with extra crap. The transmission is also well tested and smooth. Visibility is excellent. The stereo is world class. Rear seat passengers get massive center console, screens and connectivity beyond all others. Towing capacity is almost 10,000lbs😉 In person it has great presence and powerful stance. The grill does not look like the RAM truck…I had one (which also looks great anyway).
I happen to love the look inside and out. Also, every automaker on the planet have similar looks so you know brand association... BMW, Mercedes, Audi....so why are you ragging about it looks like the grand Cherokee L? Stop tripping 🧐
The Grand Wagoneer looks way better than Escalate on the road. I seen one the other day and I literally turned my head. The colored pillars are a plus when I thought at first it would make it look bad. This will be a Good Seller. Interior is better than the Escalate as well.
Watching from the Bay Area: I think you guys give the best car reviews on you tube. Everything is well explained filmed and you are so articulate. thanks !!!!
Beautiful interior! But with a 6.4L and PREMIUM GAS = low volume sales! In Canada I will be shocked if they can sell 500 units...oh, BTW did I mention that $2/Litre gas is not far away.
I love the interior I just think at this price point it’s gonna be hard to compete against the Escalade, Navigator and even things like the Bmw X7 and Mercedes gls
The X7 still has the nicest interior of any vehicle I have ever driven, just pure luxury and incredible build quality/materials. No American luxe SUV I have been in can match it. It's just too bad the X7 is so cramped inside for passengers in the back and has almost no cargo space behind the third row.
I’ve carefully evaluated every vehicle you mentioned, and the Grand Wagoneer has the highest quality materials out of the bunch. I believe it also has the best audio system. Grand Wagoneer is the best vehicle if you care more for interior features and quality than showing off in a German or Escalade.
Great honest review. Love how you two share your own individual opinions and sometimes very respectfully disagree. Great to get BOTH of your thoughts! Agree the new Grand Wagoneer should have some styling similar to the classic original. But then again the new all electric Mustang looks nothing like the 'pony cars' we love.
Your criticisms of this are spot on. I feel like it’s just a market segment money grab Large with wood grain and bad gas mileage those parts definitely harken back to old Chrysler lol
looks are always subjective...its not hideous..but fairly conservative as was mentioned..except the interior..holy moly..as far as fuel economy goes...if your spending 150k after taxes for somehing to drive down the road...I would think the price of gas is the least thing your concerned about.I agree some kind of shoutout to the old Grand Wagoneer like the viewers restored one...sweet...would of been nice..even a different hood with the slit and vertical taillights would of looked good..great review..have a great weekend.
Thanks for the balanced review. I’m in the process of buying a regular Wagoneer. We’ve got a family of 7, 6 adults, and will use it for road trips and camping. Although we’re not going on the Rubicon trail or to Moab we will be going off-road. The Wagoneer has more comfortable seating for that many people, and superior off-road drive systems, as well as more towing capacity, than the competitors. The exterior is nothing to write home about, but I do like the iconic 7-slot grill vs the large maw of the Escalade or Navigator. I would like the diesel option, although the fuel economy for the Wagoneer will be at least as good as my 750, and couldn’t be any worse on reliability and maintenance cost. At least I won’t have to wait for parts to be ordered from Germany…. 😀 Thanks again.
I'm actually shocked so many people don't like the way it looks. When I first saw it, I gushed. I love it. The one thing that I am disappointed to hear is that the stereo isn't good for that MSRP. I value having good sound.
I really like this. Finally, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram/FCA/Stelantus(?) is trying to recapture the luxury market and the full-size SUV market... and all in one product. The interior looks spectacular. The outside looks... quite forgettable though (I loved the wood - having owned a Briarwood). I like it. But I do not love it. I think if I were going to buy/lease a $120,000 luxury SUV (read: if I won the lottery)... I would head on down to my local Range Rover dealership. For a that kind of money... I’d prefer even an entry level (base), much less reliable, with horrible depreciation and pretentious looking icon that created this class (not a Evoque/Sport). Obviously... Under warranty. After all, as U.S. designer Bill Blass said... “Styles change. True Style never changes”. Elegance will always come at a premium. I like this Jeep. But not, enough at $125,000 dollars. Thanks for an amazing video. Cheers!
Nice video Andrea and Zach produce! The interior is a nice place to spend time. Been looking at the release of the 2022 Range Rover. It could be a game changer AND probably the best interior of ANY SUV. It won't hit dealerships until Spring. Can't waith for your review of this 5th generation iteration of this road icon. 🇺🇲❤ 🇨🇦
You're right, it's 2021 and real wood wouldn't work. But designers are creative these days and I'm with Andrea, they could have pulled off something with a wood-look, even subtly. But, agreed, styling is a missed opportunity.
If you Stellantis doesn't want you to call this a Jeep, they should've gone with a different grill, because the one on the Grand Wagoneer screams Jeep and has no visual resemblance with the original. How is that for differentiation? Fine job as always, guys.
Thanks Andrea and Zack for the review. The Jeep looks great inside... Zack are you still doing the Friday classic/survivor? Really enjoyed that segment.
I guess you are always comparing this to the standard length Escalade/Navigator/Yukon? Maybe Jeep’s oversight is that a lot of people order the ESV escalade or Yukon XL. Do you think Jeep will make an extended version or compete in that very popular segment?
Not sure who would buy this thing; those who liked the old Wagoneer will find nothing resembling that vehicle in this new version and everyone else would probably have a ton of other SUVs they'd rather buy for $100K! Great interior, but the ho-hum exterior and lack of an aspirational factor or road presence will doom this vehicle imo. Great review all the same; your reviews have become an essential part of my Saturdays, so keep them coming :)
Grand Wagoneer for me! It looks so much better than the Escalade and the Navigator, inside and out. The Escalade looks like a cereal box riding on its side. Its hood looks awkwardly tall. The Navigator looks at least one generation old.
Interior looks superb and kudos to Stellantis. But the fact is that lot of new generation vehicles, including non-luxury, are paying very good attention to interior look and feel. In regards to exterior, I am glad that finally someone came out with a not so BIG OPEN MOUTH GRILL lol. Front facia looks great and I think rest of the exterior is very much like other vehicles with some proportional differences. I never owned Jeep Wagoneer before. But, looking at the pictures, if I was to buy it, I am glad they didn't make this one look like it in any way.
You guys nailed it. The styling is really busy with the chrome trim and window graphics. Chrome is nice, but it should be like the old, OG GW. Big opportunity lost with the exterior styling. I like Andrea's idea of a bit of wood trim on the outside! It doesn't have to be a lot, but maybe a touch, like the classic Grand Craft mahogany and chrome boats. And the OG GW wheels are such a great observation! In reality, screens are cheap. I can see why they add so many for "luxury". People have a weird obsession with cheap screens, while they have lost the appreciation of really expensive, tactile, switchgear. Overpriced and I don't know why no hybrid? The only attractive thing is that it's built on a RAM truck. I didn't know that. Not enough to take any sales away from the S'lade. I see a quick refresh coming in '23...
I had a couple Chrysler vehicles including one with the 6.4 liter Hemi engines. Both seemed great in the beginning but the tech had issues over time plus I had lots of problems with the 6.4 liter/transmission mating. This vehicle seems like it could be fraught with problems.
My one gripe for such an expensive rig, is why the undercarriage and all the whole drivetrain is not at least partially covered up to for protection against the elements especially for corrosion!!
They really knocked it out of the park with this interior (minus the piano black stuff and the cheap-feeling wiper/headlight stalks). Pricing on the regular Wagoneer is a bit cray, though, it's easily $10K more than a comparably optioned Tahoe/Yukon/Expedition. You aren't the only publication to give the McIntosh stereo bad marks, most of the other reviews have said the same thing, that it is nowhere near an enthusiast-level sound system, which is disappointing for the high price.
Nice monster vehicle! Bad gas mileage! It’s funny how the camera front you both looks far apart and back window is tiny and can’t see anything at the back but the trees! Great video Andrea. They could add a full time hybrid would help the gas mileage. Cheers! ☕️☕️👊🏻👊🏻
when i herd, based on a ram pickup truck, thats all i saw in that wagoneer, a pickup truck with a bed shell and the longer i looked at the exterior the more it looked just like that. interior is nice but..... i don't consider anything in the comparison a comparion except the navigator because of its massive size,
Hands down the Jeep has one of the nicest interior in the class much better than Cadillac. Which still feels like a Chevy Tahoe which feels like a Chevy Cruze
This car must be so much fun to own outside of warranty when all those gimmicks and gadgets start to fail. So much so that I'm jealous of future owners. Hopefully reliability holds-up. I'll wait for used. Im seriously considering
I couldn't watch this review past 8 minutes.... Nobody has reviewed the Grand Wagoneer with such negative comments. The Escalade isn't even close to this vehicle. You sound like too much of a GM fanboy.
The Escalade is a very nice vehicle. However, right now they are charging 10k for the premium luxury models over msrp and 30k for the sport platinum. That brings the cost up to 140k. I think the Escalade is nicer, but not 30-40k nicer.
I always enjoy your reviews, but never quite sure of your final opinion. Maybe add a final score? I think overall you liked this vehicle…but really not sure. Too many contradictory statements IMO.
Looks a lot better inside and out than the the Escalade/Yukon IMO, those incredibly tall front ends are trying to rival that of Semi trucks and look ridiculous as a result.
Regarding the styling, the proportions are off. The greenhouse is too small/short, and the vehicle appears "tail heavy" with too much visible mass in its a$$. Always enjoy your terrific reviews. Cheers from Virginia USA.
These full sized SUV's are getting bigger and bigger and bigger..... When does it stop? This is already so big, that it's kinda hard to keep centered on an old country single lane road. You actually have to hog two full parking spots to park it. And making a right hand turn in the city and having your back wheel go up over the curb because this is so long, is not really a lot of fun. Beautiful machines! But getting on the verge of dangerous and burdensome. Maybe just my opinion?
The exterior is hideous and I guess the interior is plush and very well appointed but who is this for? I guess if you want to flaunt your wealth it makes sense. Unlike a generation ago you see very few family units with 5 to 8 children anymore . These giant SUVS make no sense as a daily driver and how many people with a lot of money go a ton of long road trips? They’ll just fly instead. With the planet on 🔥 vehicles like this make no sense. But hey another great review!
Thank you. I'm really wondering why people think vehicles like the Suburban, this one, Escalade, make any sense. They are way, and I mean way, too large. My sister used a minivan in the 1990s and it worked well. It wasn't so grossly large and it fit her family fine. This excess is really sickening and we really need to downsize all vehicles, especially in height. And that includes most crossovers. When we go electric, height is an enemy to electric range.
FCA has really done a great job with their interiors, while Ford is getting worse. Although its exterior styling is polarizing, it still looks so much better than the ugly X7, but not as stately as GLS. Also the incoming Q9 will likely look like an enlarged Q7. Both the Escalade and Navigator are the hottest items in States right now, Wagoner is a decade too late to join the profitable party.
For the cost they could've painted a faux wood look on the outside. I agree they should've gone with the classic body style of the original. That price would almost make sense had they capitalized on the nostalgia with a throwback design. Even with a best in class interior this is a Big Miss!
Spending Uber luxury money for a decent, but not best in class amenities and horrific fuel mileage is insane and, IMO as time will reveal, an exercise in futility for Jeep. Buy it and watch is depreciate quicker than the Titanic, especially when the New green deal fuel price strategies are fully rolled out.
The exterior design is disappointing. I agree with zack, it does look like a ram. Wish they could’ve gone with a more retro look instead of a boring pickup truck look. Especially since the navigator and Escalade give a more bold presence.
I see people trying to drive these huge beasts in downtown Toronto and I just shake my head. Most of these people can't even keep this thing in a lane let alone parallel park it on the street. And when I glance in, it always seems to be a tiny woman driving it with nobody else in the vehicle. 6.4L V8? Is it 1972? Burn that fuel.
@@andreaspencer9813 LOL. There’s the 2 way side streets were I have to drive up onto the sidewalk to let the beasts drive down the centre of the road because they are afraid of knocking all of the mirrors off the parked cars.
@@kevinn1158 Exactly! I had a similar comment above. I'm sure this is nice on the highway. But anywhere else, and it actually becomes a burden to drive!
Hi Zack and Andrea! I agree the GW’s interior looks great but the exterior is a missed opportunity - neither nostalgic nor innovative. Add the price and non-luxury brand...disappointed.
I used to work at a AMC, Jeep, Renault dealership, and when the Grand Wagoneer showed up it was always a special thing. I wished I made enough money at the time to afford one. Kevin, you’ve got a great truck. Thanks for sharing the photos too.
The dealership I worked at also had Eagle (Premier and Talons). It was in N. Vancouver.

There’s a Jeep logo on the windshield…
Spending Uber luxury money for a decent, but not best in class amenities and horrific fuel mileage is insane and, IMO as time will reveal, an exercise in futility for Jeep. Buy it and watch is depreciate quicker than the Titanic, especially when the New green deal fuel price strategies are fully rolled out.
Extra screens ≠ luxury.
Not a fan of this trend.
Agreed! And people have also come to equate bigger screens with better/more tech. Not exactly the same thing.
Zach front grill looks more like Hammer then Ram
For the record, “Jeep” is on the Grand Waggoner.
I care nothing about brand name. Cadillac isn't a big brand name anymore. This new wagoneer has the feel of a German luxury vehicle.
LX 600 is right around the corner.
The original Grand Wagoneer the most popular car for the wealthy.
Order this car in yellow and a "schlbus" licence plate.
Yes the fuel economy isn't that good but it's better than the Escalade and better than the Navigator.
If you are doing mostly city driving and you are not a great parallel parker, this probably isn't the SUV for you. 😜
Hey Andrea, the interior matches your beautiful blonde hair
But then I would rather buy a Cadillac Escalade model 2022 because it is the world's most beautiful SUV and it can also be ordered with V8.
Hi Zack and Andrea! I agree the GW’s interior looks great but the exterior is a missed opportunity - neither nostalgic nor innovative. Add the price and non-luxury brand...disappointed.
